SMEG BCC02 Coffee Machine Modes - What's the difference ?

GF just bought the subject coffee machine. We're obviously stupid as we can't seem so work out the difference between the modes.
Espresso vs Light Espresso for example. Both seemed to put out the same volume.
Is one more diluted ?

    Basically nothing. It names the buttons but doesn't say how they differ between each mode.
    And it shows the identical cup level icons for each button between the modes so it's not a volume thing.

    Unnecessarily complicated and ugly product and unhelpful manual. A quick read shows the white and orange menus allow you to program 3x different versions of pours totalling six. See customisation of the quantity on page 7.

            @scottb721: The maintenance looks unnecessarily arduous and also seems to be the source of most of the criticism.
