FLASHFORGE 3D Printer Adventurer 5M $499 Delivered @ Flashforge | [eBay Plus] $451.51 Delivered @ Flashforge 3D Direct eBay

130
MAR17

Great price on what seems to be a good plug and play 3d printer. Not quite a Bambu lab, but for this price, it's a winner. Prints at similar speeds and similar ease of use, but a small step down overall. No AMS functionality/options. It's a CoreXY printer

Good reviews overall, with the biggest negative being that the firmware is based on a locked down version of klipper. However very recently it seems like this might change, with a klipper version of firmware appearing on their website - however no instructions on how to install it as yet.

The nozzles are also criminally expensive due to including the heater and thermostat in a quick release fitting. ($50-$60AUD).

Is also on sale on their ebay store, coupled with the MAR17 code, bringing it down to $451.51

  • researched them all. nearly went for this but glad i got the a1 even though its got a worldwide recall haha. these still seem quite fiddly and there app/interface is lacking.

    • Interface/Menu seems fine based on the video below, and wasn't raised as an issue on any of the reviews I watched.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO2FZ2MBw7I

I considered the A1, but there was reports on taller prints having issues with quality when printed at speed. It was also at least $350 more. I really wanted to get a core xy printer, i've had cartesian ones in the past and they've been pretty good, but time to upgrade.

  • Thus began the age of the Bambu clones.

    • +3

Not sure how flashforge is a clone. These printers have been around for ages

      • +2

The brand has been , but the model is a straight clone..

    • -1

P1p clone, customisable enclosures idea also copied.

      • There is a P1s copied version as well which is fully covered. And spool holder is exactly as same as bambu lab's.

  • At this price the Qidi X_smart 3 seems like a better deal at $399 on ebay with Free delivery. At least you can get full root access to Klipper

    • Did consider that, but the bed is smaller.

    • Can get it cheaper directly from Qidi's website with a coupon code "UP01"

  • Deal link is for flashforge website?

    • The ebay link is in the post - ozbargain won't allow you to post ebay links to a store unless they're a "top seller"

The $499 is still a good price.

  • What is the build volume?

    • +1

      220x220x220

      • Thanks, very keen to replace my SWX1 but that's a bit too small for me =(

  • +1

The eBay listing allows you to make an offer. If you’re looking to purchase, try making an offer of $500 and see if they accept. Then the eBay code stacks on top of the price they accept.

    • I tried $500 yesterday, was rejected within minutes. Tried $525 but got no response after a few hours, and I was pretty keen on getting it shipped prior to the w/e so just bought it at the listed price.

      • Looks like the eBay price has gone up unless I'm missing something? Did you get a response for the $525 offer?

        • No, but I did get an offer from them to me for $500 (after I'd already paid and received my printer so had to reject)

Glad you posted a review from Fedor. He's legit and seems very honest in his recommendations. Unlike some in the 3d printing YouTube community.

And is a genuinely nice guy to deal with.

Great deal! Although the Bambu fanbois are even present on OzBargain!

I have a P1P at home, excellent printer and this is indeed a clone but at half the price and from a long-established company Flashforge the 5M also gets excellent reviews. The build volume of 220 x 220 is slightly smaller (256 x 256 mm on P1P) but is a pretty decent size for printing most things short of one-piece helmets.

What you won't get is the tightly integrated Bambu ecosystem and it also sounds like Flashforge has no plans to allow root access to their Klipper based firmware.

There really are some excellent Core XY 3D printers coming out in response to Bambu disrupting the market with X1C and p1 series.

  • Not a huge fan of Flashforge, flashprint sucks

    • +1

I have never used either of the in house slicers for my printers. By all regards they all suck. Even bambu slicer which is one of the best, orca slicer is still a better alternative.

Point being, don't judge a printer by it's company's slicer.

      • Yup, I'm using Orca slicer on it, works fine.

      • That's mostly true, except for most of flashforge's printers, you can only use flashprint.
Flashforge uses some sort of non standard format for printing, not your regular gcode.

I've had a fair bit of experience in 3d printing. Starting from building an Anet A8, converting it to an AM8 and getting it working absolutely brilliantly. Then sold it at some point when I didn't have time for it.

Back on deck many years later with an Anycubic Mega S, and have upgraded that to klipper, new stepper motors, input shaping etc etc. Also dipped my toes into Resin printing and have an Mono SE resin printer.

Got my 5M yesterday and it has blown me away more than any other printer has. So easy, so simple, quality and speeds are insane. Absolutely chuffed with this purchase.
