This looks fine, I'll buy. I want the one with the little colour LCD screen, but probably shouldn't waste my money on something I'll likely drop in the shower anyway.

  • This or the smart 5000 for slightly more: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/834843

    • It's 2000 more in model number, but is Smart better than Pro?

    • It's closer to even when you consider the 5000 comes with 3 brush heads. I think the 3000 only comes with one though it doesn't say anywhere that I can see.

My 5-year old entry-level Oral B from Coles (purchased for like $20 in late 2018) is still going strong and holds a charge reasonably well. Any reason to consider upgrading to this?

      • Pressure sensor with LED light.
      • Lithium battery, should go longer between charges.
      • More oscillations per second.
      • The base one doesn't oscillate as much as the higher grade ones - I think from the 1000 or 2000 all have the same higher oscillations. That's all really. And pressure sensor.

I had an entry level one and then 4 years later ungraded to a 2000. The turns are noticeably faster and bigger battery.

I kept the entry level one and pack it for the annual overseas trip.

      • what grade was it before

The only feature my dentist recommended I must have is the pressure warning. A charging case would be nice but I barely leave the house as it is, let alone go on holiday for weeks at a time.

    • The exy ones have 3D vs 2D oscillation apparently 🤷🏻‍♂️

I guess you should really be asking your dentist this question. 😂

    • My partner and I had Oral B Vitality’s for years and years, same boat as you. Wife wasn’t convinced and said I was wasting money buying these. Shortly after she ate her words and said it was actually a huge difference and worth the money.

I fully agree, it does feel like a much more thorough clean and the pressure sensor comes in handy. Worth the purchase at this price.

  • I have a oralb 1000. Prob not worth it ?

According to camelcamelcamel the highest price was $147

  • same price at priceline with free delivery.

However, they do not accept their GC online (normally 10% off).

  • Is this pictured with a US plug?

If you are anything like me. You are wondering, if you should get a higher up model. So here's my experience with the top of the line model. I have the Oral B Genius 9000. The pressure sensor is the most useful feature. I don't use any of the other cleaning modes, the position tracking, bluetooth etc. The travel case (that charges with a power cord) is very useful for me, but I travel a lot. The "refill holder" is great. When I had a partner living with me. So we would share the same handle but just swap out the heads. So for those on the market for one of these electric toothbrushes. My advice, ignore the extra stuff unless you can see a use for it in your particular use case. I'm a tech geek and thought the bluetooth connection would be handy. But who wants to analyse their tooth brushing? Not to mention you need to spend time setting up the phone each time you brush. You'll do it once or twice and then never bother again. The real use of the bluetooth connection is for Oral B to remind you to replace your brush head. As for it's effectiveness. Even my dental hygenist mentioned that I have less tartar to clean. But it doesn't clean between teeth. So flossing is still necessary. And no the floss head doesn't clean all the way. You still need to floss.

Could someone please invent a toothbrush technology which also floss?

    • The green brush heads turn yellow when it's time to replace them anyway.

  • nice .. thanks op
