  • Brand / product in title would be preferable so people don't have to click through to see whether it is diamonds on jerky.

  • why is the price so damn high on this jerky? $16 per 200g?

    • +2

have you tried it? well worth the money…

      • +1

        well worth the money…

not if it ends up costing you a root canal… :(

        • I'm no dentist, but I'd have to guess that's probably more a result of mediocre oral hygiene than jerky chewing habits?

        • or cracked teeth from continuously chewing through kilos of very hard jerky

        • +1

You could always give it a good sucking before you chew it jv! ;)

Honestly though, if your teeth were that bad you would be foolish to consider jerky as a snack…ripe bananas or avocado maybe.

I just googled Beef Jerky and the first business I looked at other then ours was $25 for 200g
the next one down from that that had pricing was $26.50 so $16 for premium beef jerky is pretty good considering we normally have it for $24.

      • That doesn't explain why the price of all beef jerky is so unreasonably high.

        • +1

ever bought a good quality cut of meat? you'll find that a lot (probably if not all) of jerky manufactures are gonna use good slabs of beef otherwise the jerky would be crap

        • +1

dog jerky doesn't sell that well….

        • +2

It is dehydrated meat, so think about that for a second, what is meat mostly made of? and what happens when you dehydrate things? You're taking the water out of something that is mostly water. So the amount of raw beef that has to go in to 200g of Jerkey is quite a lot, which explains the price.

BTW that costco jerkey which is like 20 bucks for 1 kilo, that's not real jerkey, its mostly some kind of gelatin.

        • if the op is still here, if you're keen on sharing I'm pretty interested in actually how much raw beef goes in to make 200g of jerky…

        • +1

          It's been explained before…3:1 ratio. 3kg steak = 1kg jerky! ;)

        • +1

          cheers StewBalls

approx. $15 shipping for me… I know its good stuff and it cant be cheap to ship, but when shipping fees is just shy of a third of what the product is it puts me off a little. if shipping somehow was a bit cheaper I'd definitely grab some for the xmas period…

  • +3

Best Jerky I've had by far!

  • I quite like this jerky, but it's a bit too salty to my taste… :)

    • which flavor did you have? pow wow is the damn good if you haven't had that…

      • I like the buckshot, mmm peppery! :)

      • I got the blazing saddles…

  • -3

This makes me kinda mad. I just bought 3 bags two days ago for $75…I feel shafted. Would be cool if I got a $25 coupon for my next order or something.

  • -1

Isn't beef jerky like eating salted boot leather? My apologies to the jerky afficianados out there but that was my impression of the stuff I've tried.

    • No, they have different flavours. It's nothing like I imagine salted leather would taste.

I wasted my last batch as it kept going between my teeth and damaging my gums… I'd have to space out my jerky by 4-5 days and I finally gave up :(

    • The first initial bite is like biting on brittle leather but the following chews creates this awesome flavour in your mouth. Best jerky I've tasted, even better than alligator jerky I had in the states :D.

  • +1

Hey Big Chief, any chance of some specials on larger amounts…say 500g or 1kg bags? :)

  • +2

I will never buy this jerky ever again. Bought one of the deals they had on in the past with all the samplers, and this is how my 'Flamin' Arrow' arrived: http://imgur.com/6PSxH,PJGF6#1

    Thanks, but no thanks.

    • +1

      @_@

    • +4

wow-if i bought something and it was faulty I would have contacted the business and told them!

Is it more likely you have left this for a while because you dont like hot stuff and it has gone moldy?

      Hmmmm

Sorry but I think its a bit sus.

      • +2

So instead of blaming your customer, how about getting order number and tracking?

This would be the right thing to do if you are interested in customer service, which tends to be if you feel like it or arnt to busy.

        • +2

I just dont think it was nice to bring it up in a public forum but I am more then happy to order number.

Mikinoz-It is just hard to believe as our samples come straight from the cook then out to customer-All product sent is fresh of dehydrator with one hour cooling then packed and out.

We have seen this before when we leave product in sun and then store it for 12+months

Graydoh please send your details and I will look into it

        • Why not its a public forum for the public? okay so your embarrased by the accusation.

Make good of it by proving it, or replacing the item.

From my experience you occaisonally over promise (where's my damm t shirt) and have a bit of attitude when it doesnt go your way, lets see whats changed.

        • +7

These guys make a decent product, and they care about the quality. The point raised is true, who would receive jerky like the one pictured and not contact the company to sort it out? Who would take a photo and then wait for the company to post on ozbargain before bringing this up?

        • -5

QUALITY??? dont talk about quality if they havent got the safety right.
he didnt even seem to be surprised by the picture, calling it "faulty", seen it all before… WTF, its not like a mp3 player u bought and its not working, its a freaking health hazzard.

        • +3

Why not its a public forum for the public? okay so your embarrased by the accusation.

The problem with that line of thinking is the old idiom 'mud sticks!'

This is true in a lot of social and professional circles. Sometimes, when a person or business has their name sullied; irrespective of facts; it is difficult to get their good name back with some people. Unfortunately, I see this mentality used as a weapon at least weekly from a professional standpoint; with far more devastating consequences than a few lost customers! :(

Just look at the player above, he's already done some significant reading between the lines & pretty much written a whole screenplay based on graydoh's brief post…and it's true coz he saw a picture! Where is graydoh in all of this, nowhere to be seen and suspiciously quiet regarding any real details; just as I suspected!!! :s

        • -3

          brief? or concisely stated?
-"this is how my 'Flamin' Arrow'(moldy jerky) ARRIVED"
not like it was kept "under the sun" for year or something, as what the rep was trying to blame.
whats still unclear? may be it was just an extra furry cow?

sorry, how much of the company do u own?? lol

        • -2

Sorry I'm not on ozbargain all day mate - somehow I have to earn the money I visit this site to spend.

        • +1

          its a freaking health hazzard.

Does that have anything to do with Bo and Luke?

        • +2

LOL, damn them Duke boys… :)

@graydoh, still no dates, numbers or details mate…cowboy up champ or admit that you're full of it! ;)

      • -5

Or, consider that I was appalled at this appearing in my order and decided I didn't want anything to do with the company? Sure, I could've emailed you and complained and possibly got my $7.00 refunded, but when there are as many jerky companies out there as there are, it really wasn't worth the effort.

        • +3

I have zero time for people like you. Things go wrong, mate. If there is an issue, contact them and get it sorted out. There is no point waiting god knows how many months before bringing it up in a public forum before the retailer has a chance to defend themselves. Maybe if the company had a reputation for poor quality products/service but Geronimo doesn't. By all accounts (including my own) they are a trustworthy business that sells quality jerky.

So even your story is true (and I'm not saying it isn't), you have gone about this totally the wrong way and deserve absolutely nothing from Geronimo. I'm going to stop now before I say something that get's this comment removed. Needless to say - it really grinds my gears.

        • Well said johno! :)

    • +2

I'm with the OP on this one…what did you do at the time?

      • Chances are op is right, i would like to wait and see ;)

        • Same. Trouble that we never get to 'see' around here! Too many people simply decline to truthfully answer the questions that would exonerate the accused.

        • +1

True damm, Stewy lets start our own website based around this topic? sad but i'm interested in outcome

        • -3

wake up!! the point hes making is that the product isnt even safe, speaks alot about their production.
if he pursued further complaints or not is totally another issue.
if the jerky has been properly dehydrated and packaged, nothing like this would get into the hands of customers

        • +4

Somebody please hold up a palm so I can get a run up & slam my face into it with great velocity! 'the player' my arse…can't you see you're being played?

        • :-)

        • +1

          "THE PLAYER"

Our product is haccp approved by Safefood Qld and we have all the accredited and qualifications to make beef jerky-

We send our product in for testing every two months and pass with flying colours. Our product is safe and the only time I have had this mold issue is when we have tested it ourselves and the jerky was over a year old (we have a six month shelf life).

          Mark

        • -2

passing a test is one thing, sticking to it is another.
if the qualification is everything, we wouldnt see another case of recall or even food poisoning from any products.

as i said before, if done properly, it can be kept for years without going moldy, let alone months.
shame that a food company can only turn away from problems of their product, rather than rectifying it.

@stewballs: btw is that the best u can come up with, just personal attack? and on a username??
if u have read the comments and not as ignorant, u could have gathered that their product have a tendency to go moldy.
"straight from the cook then…… We have seen this(mold) before……"

        • The Player-I had a whole bunch of things to say but your not really worth it after those comments. You have just fabricated a whole bunch of crap to be honest.

Also I have never heard anyone call Stewballs ignorant- good luck with that one.

        • +3

What he is saying is that from their experience, which is miles ahead of your's it takes quite a while for jerky to become like that.

Which is suspicious because any normal customer would call/email straight away if something like that turned up.

These guys produce high quality jerky and I have purchased KG's of the stuff and can attest for the safety.

What problem is there to rectify? Who's to know that "graydoh" didn't consume part of the jerky then left the rest to rot?

"Or, consider that I was appalled at this appearing in my order and decided I didn't want anything to do with the company? "

Why bring it up now if you don't want to do anything with the company? Smells suss.

        • +2

I couldn't have put it better than fatal; graydoh has said nothing about dates, times or order numbers; and by his own admission simply did nothing when he allegedly received a mouldy product. If he was being honest, that would be the first thing he would have done to corroborate the story!

The whole story smells like BS to me! We have a product that is, by nature, designed for longevity; surely no reasonable person would decline to contact the supplier; if not to gain recompense or replacement, but simply to alert them to a potential issue should that expectation not be met. He had enough time to take photos & get on here pissing & moaning; but not 2mins to shoot off a quick email to Geronimo! I've seen nothing from graydoh to revoke my call of shenanigans!

Then you've got the player jumping up & down like a toddler that's had his lollypop stolen…only problem is that he's got nothing whatsoever to do with it! He hasn't said that he's a disgruntled current or former Geronimo customer. His only issue is that he's just upset coz he saw a picture, and that instantly makes graydoh's story true! Holy shit, he must believe every fake video on Youtube & most urban myths as well…I hope he doesn't go near the drains coz there be alligators in them there sewers!

So, never mind that we still haven't seen an order number & date with corroborating photo date; so we don't have any way of knowing whether the product was ordered back in 2009 when Geronimo kicked off here! Surely nobody is that dense…one has to ask, what is the player's agenda here???

@the player, if you are genuinely…well, ignorant in all of this, I would suggest a nickname change…I believe 'the chump' could still be available… :p

          chump/CHəmp/
          Noun:
          A foolish person.
An easily deceived person; a sucker.

        • why does graydoh have to provide anything at your interest, he doesnt care about their business.
hes just pointing out to everyone how their order could turn up.
do u actually know the potential problems of dehydrating jerky properly? and how it can lead to mold?
if u did, u would have kept your mouth shut.

          "Then you've got the player……
          ……
          @the player……"

whos the child here? whos fabricating sh!t up?
go back to kindergarten where u belong
btw i also got a suggestion for u, "suckmyballs"

        • +2

why does graydoh have to provide anything at your interest

Because he has made an allegation…c'mon champ, use your head, that's just commonsense! I may be old fashioned, but I kind of expect real evidence to support any claim. But then, you've seen a picture…I suppose you also believe in Bigfoot & the Loch Ness Monster, right? :o

Pottymouth eh, why not; when you've already made a fool of yourself, that's one of the best ways to make yourself look even more stupid…congrats! UMAD BRO??? :D

        • +1

Funny that both 'the player' and StewBalls have been registered users of Ozbargain for almost exactly the same amount of time, yet one is an intelligent, respected member of the comunity and the other… is not.

  • With an attitude like that Mikanoz, I'm surprised why you didn't get a bag like grahdoh.

    • Hahaha attitude, you mean someone who questions and stands up for themselves.

Yeah its terrible i know :) who says i didnt? you ever been a customer of Geronimo?

      • +2

        Yeah, good point.

I'm quite a big fan of this jerky - I like to protect the things I love :-) I have and will continue to be a loyal customer :) If only I could afford the 1kg amount…

  • +2

This jerky is gold, i might get it as a birthday present :)

  • +3

Shipping kills this deal for me….

    $16.15? Really?

  • Just made an order :) Only $11.15 for postage to me.

  • ahh the comments have bought a smile to my face…nothing like a couple num-nuts making posts to get a laugh!

  • +1

Has anyone else had their order shipped? I ordered on the 31st and nothing yet. Only an order confirmation.

    • I ordered on the 3rd and received mine today :)

      • +1

I ordered mine on the 8th and apart from an order confirmation that day nothing.

Its unusual to purchase something online and it take over a week to ship with no contact.

        • +1

Geronimo Jerky aren't known for stellar customer service. It's a good thing they have good product or I'd never buy from them.

        • Just an updtae. Mine arrived safely on the 19th and tastes great. Would have been nice to receive a shipping confirmation to remove the uncertainty but overall a good experience.

  • Don't worry.
