i usually go to westfields and visit maybe 4 of the currency exchanges available and go with the best rate.
seeing if anyone knows a better place so i don't have to shop around.
United exchange has very good rates I find.
Depends what rate you purchased at. Are you in a position to hold until your next trip?
i was thinking about that, but i don't think i will be going back for a while.
i try to visit a new country every year, but this year i went back the the usa for a wedding and made it a holiday since i was there already.
Put it in your drawer with your passport for next time.

maybe keep it and exchange USD for the next countries currency. probably get better rates than converting back to AUD and then to next currency
i didn't think of that, great point. you're right the usd is so strong, i will just hold till next year when i figure out which country im going to visit next.
Fair enough, lots of countries are accessed cheaper if you have a layover in LA, many of those countries will accept USD or a black market trade with USD.
it will get used if your going every year.
Travel Money Oz had the best rates in Brisbane when I was searching a few years back.
They even had a 'preferred' rate which was slightly better if you are a FC employee or if you booked travel arrangements through there.
$1000 usd? The difference of shopping around will be around $10aud. Is it really worth your time?
