The game is rigorous and works with any phonics scheme so it’s perfect for use in school and at home. It’s developed in collaboration with leading academics at the University of Roehampton and has been approved by the UK government as part of the Hungry Little Minds campaign.
This educational app is commonly used in preschool, primary school, kindergarten and first grade as an interactive teaching resource.

"Fonix"..well it should be if it was actually 'fonetic'.
Thanks! Just downloaded, seems to be a hit with my kinder aged child
Great post. It's a fantastic game for kids!
Great , thanks!
Thanks for posting, wonderful to have it on iPhone.
Did this with my 4 year old son last night, he loved it.
As an educator, this is one of the best apps for kids to use for both pre-school and first two years at school.
Cheers, any other app recommendations for other skills?
Hairy Letters is another one with similar literacy skills, Prodigy Maths is a good maths game, with RPG progression elements, however it has recently begun to focus on more avatar stuff. It still has some value though. Epic reading (getepic.com) is a good collection of books and a range of targeted texts for reading levels too. Khan Academy has a great range of maths videos, tutorials and exercises. I haven't used the app in quite some time, but I assume little has changed.
Showing as $15.99 on Play
iPad version seems to be $11.99 so only iPhone discounted?
