depends upon how it’s handled/stored/prepared :)
I'd have grabbed all of them and tossed them through a garlic cream sauce and proper linguine pasta with some green herbs
how much linguine for 2kg scallops? :)
no cream sauce for me - instead olive oil, garlic, chilli, with zucchini, cherry tomatoes, spinach leaves, continental parsley
I can smell this picture
folks… dont freeze short dated seafood…
why not?
because it will likely go off while its frozen. Freezing doesnt stop the process. Also, people really tend to forget how much time they have left on things when freezing. Im not saying it will get you sick, but the quality will be pretty average
no it won't - though not completely, proper freezing does stop spoilage sufficiently for at least a few months, especially in this case when already vacuum-sealed
@tonester: yeah thats true. But seafood starts to spoil the minute it dies.. You've already taken most of those months and weeks it would last longer in the freezer off it prior to freezing by. Spoilage is about bacteria content. Freezing in a home freezer doesnt kill it all.. it slows the growth. If the bacteria count is already high as hell, it doesnt take long to grow so high that its garbage when you defrost it.
If you want seafood to last long in a domestic freezer, it needs to be frozen as soon as possible.
Commercial freezers are different as they are snap frozen and are colder.
short dated seafood, does not sound like a good idea
"Should still be ok" when talking about seafood does not inspire confidence.
