  • Any good shampoo to stop hair fall?

      • +1

Can cause ED in some. Bad side effects for many people.

        • +1

For less than 1%, I've been on it for 15 years and no problems here.

          • @starry001: Less than 1% is still many ;) Unfortunatey bad Sides for me. Trying different stuff now. Do you buy propecia or generic Fin? Research shows that even 0.2 mg is almost as effective as 1 mg. So 1 tablet can be taken for 4 days and almost have the same hair saving effects.

            • @[Deactivated]: I've bought it all. Currently using some I bought while in India. It was $10 for 4 months worth.
I feel like bad sides can be just associated with the age ar which people start using it, I'm certainly not saying that's the case for everyone.

              • @starry001: I dint get ED tho, but other nasty sides. and i tried it when i was 28YO and even now get the sides. Evven saw palmetto causses the same sides but at 80% less intense. Ya buying stuff in India is cheap and hassle free. I know.

        • The side effects I've heard from my own and friends' experience is less libido and more feeling bad/suicidal

          • @SpainKing: That is manageble. My Prostate is literally on fire when I jerk off. Which is extremely bad sides.

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: Gotta stop pleasuring yourself on the stovetop my man. Surprisingly never heard of that side effect. My scalp also gets itchy but I'll take that over a fiery prostate any day

              • @SpainKing: Even SSRIs have the same side effects for me. Even saw palmetto caused it to a small degree. I guess everybody is simply different.

              • @SpainKing: BTW i am not on oral fin anymore. I was on it for 2 days only many years ago and recently gave it a chance for 2 more days. Like you said, anything over fiery prostate ;)

        • ED?

    • Minoxidil works pretty well for male & female pattern baldness.
You can get the Regaine topical application from a chemist, either male or female version. There's also a capsule form, which I used for 5 months before losing my last refill slip. But I think only dermatologists can prescribe it. Or at least, I had it prescribed by a dermatologist, and when I saw a GP, she said she couldn't see find it to prescribe it to me again. Saw a massive reduction in hair thinning and plant of regrowth while on the capsule, but the rate at which my hair fell out increased quickly as soon as I stopped taking it.
Personally, I preferred the capsule, but it is expensive ($30 per month & only compacting pharmacists can dispense it), as are the dermatologist appointments. Which is why I'm using the female foam version now, no prescription required. It's still not cheap, but it's cheaper than the capsule. Only started it 2 months ago so still not sure as to how well it's working as it can take 4-6 months to see improvement.

        • haha. I wish it worked that well or that quickly.

Get you GP to prescribe you Minoxidil 7% Finesteride 0.1% solution from a compounding pharmacy and you can claim in on Private health insurance. If they add tretinoin then you only need to use it once daily at night as tretinoin seems to enhance/ extend activity of minoxidil for approx 24hrs.

100mls is about $85. You can $53 back from private insurance. And 100mls will last you a little over 3 months.

        • Thanks for the tip. I'll look into it.

          • +1

@DoaAn: Also regarding Propecia (Finesteride) ask GP to prescribe 5mg and cut tablet into 4. Pack will last you 4 months for about $30. If they write a repeat on script, then you can claim it under concessional rate of approx $6. Otherwise buy it with the hair solution together on samw reciept as you can claim private health insurance up to reciept value $100 (out of pocket $32)

Warning for anyone considering topical minoxidil: cats lack the enzyme required to filter it out of their bodies, an absurdly small amount can be fatal.

        • Do you know of any good compounding pharmacy in Brisbane?

        • Thanks for sharing, didn’t know that we can claim from private insurance.

          • +1

            @venusozb: Neither did i.
As long as its a prescription medicine and they give you the right reciept, it should qualify

            • @easternculture: Should you have extras in the Private Insurance for this claim? I am assuming you cant with hospital only policy?

      • You don’t need every time to see dermatologists. GP’s can also prescribe the same. Example I am using last 5 years “Minoxidil 1MG / FINESTERIDE 0.5 MG Capsule - 100 Caps” for about $65. And I buy it from
Orrong Compounding Pharmacy Prahran VIC 3181. Let me know if you need more details pm me.

    • Get a script for Minoxidil from your GP and your problem will be solved

      sebizole 2% (ketaconazole)

Ketaconazole apparently binds to hair follicles and acts as a DHT blocker.

      • Yep - too many people on finasteride or other 5ar inhibitors that absolutely mess them up. Post finasteride syndrome is frightening.

I don't know why anyone would roll the dice there for a head of hair, even if it's a relatively low risk.

      • is that good or bad ?

Any Nizral shampoo should help a bit. Else look at using Essential oils like mint and Rosemary oils.
If you are wanting shampoo only then try Pur Dor https://www.amazon.com.au/PURA-DOR-Advanced-Thinning-Increas…
      OR
      DS Revita - https://www.amazon.com.au/DS-Laboratories-High-Performance-S…

These have inflated prices in Aus as they are imported.

  • Dang ! Just bought 3 pack of 2 at Aldi over the weekend at $16.99 per pack and to my biggest wisdom, threw away the receipt !!!

    • Oh well

Have used previously - But changed to - Philip Kingsley Flaky Itchy Scalp Shampoo. So much better

    • $55 for 250ml?!

      • Yup not cheap, nothing has worked as well as this stuff.

  • Selsun even cheaper..
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Selsun-Anti-Dandruff-Shampoo-Reple…

Have previously used Selsun Gold and results were GOLD

    • Never heard of this before, could you explain how this is better/compares to T/Gel other than the price?

      • -1

Gold is effective but found TGel smells nicer and can use for longer periods. Gold starts to make my hair gunky if I use it too regularly

      • Never tried anything else.. it worked instantly within 1week.. haven't had to use it after

    • +1

Selsun doesn't work though - especially for skin conditions; whereas T-Gel absolutely does.

  • max 6?
have to pay for the delivery :(

    • Set up subscribe and save, then cancel.

      • i did mate, it will only give a further discount.
the seller sets the max number of purchase at 6 items….. so that's approx 7*6=$42, not meeting the $59 for free delivery
        not a prime account

        • buy something else and then return it.

          Big brain move.

        • Bit confused. When I do subscribe and save, it doesn't charge me delivery.

  • -4

this really smells bad btw - medicated shampoo. i wouldnt recommend for regular use

  • does that make my hair grow?
I read somewhere that for example OG shampoo has ingredients in that promote hairloss

  • Thanks @Pricebeat.

  • I miss their 2-in-1 :( was fantastic for my hair

  • How is it compared to Harrification from Coles?

  • +1

This is a coal tar shampoo, I use it for psoriasis.
