i would still prefer this deal

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/780147

    • The part of these that I didn't like, was the fly area. Just didn't sit as comfortably as my pairs of step ones that didn't have a fly.

    • The waistband stretched after 1 wash for me, never again.

Tackle undies on the other hand are great!

    • +3

Kmart ones are cheaper and better

These are just from AliBaba and mass marketed

    • +3

For this price tag, there are so many reputed brands to choose from Amazon instead of this ****.

    • Link to Kmart ones, Please

      • +4

I bought these recently and they've been great so far https://www.kmart.com.au/product/7-pack-7-day-trunks-s138308…
I can even wear them while running or cycling and they support the dong perfectly, no chance of it slipping out or chafing

      • +5

Don’t read the comments here. People always comments ‘but you can buy at the X store for cheaper’ and most times the quality there is just worse.

        • +5

I've been using Step Ones for a few years now and gotta admit the quality has gone down hill quite a bit, quite a number of holes developing quickly these days in new pairs. I've recently tried out Alpha Sports Trunks from Kmart and find the quality to be on par, material a little different. Have also just had a 10 pack of Tradie Bamboo Trunks arrive a couple weeks back. The fit on the same size Tradies is better for me personally but the material of Step One (despite it failing pretty quickly these days) I prefer marginally.

          • @MBix: Agreed about the quality. I have some 6 or 7 year old Step Ones which are still going strong. The last lot I bought about 18 months ago, the bands have stretched, material has stretched in places and threads pulling out etc.

I tried some Knobbys recently which were really comfortable but turned my balls into a tropical swamp area.

Ok stopped reading your comment after the first sentence.

When people say "Kmart ones" the only one that is comparable to step one is the anti-ride bamboo trunk. https://www.kmart.com.au/product/anti-ride-mid-length-bamboo…

I would agree that they're just as good, maybe better but sometimes you want a bit of colour variety in your jocks. That's why the occasional $17.50 pair of step ones aren't a bad deal.

I've also tried Tackle (fabric loses shape after 12 months) and Perfect Underwear for comparison. Have just ordered some Tradie as per the link here.

      • Having read this before I tried these Kmart ones. The main difference is the seam on the inner pouch. StepOnes seam is curved, which offers great walnut support. Kmart's do the usual straight down to the crotch seam, so the walnuts sag.

A shame, as they'd be great otherwise and don't have the annoying 'Alpha' - "Hey, i buy my sexy undies at Kmart!" scream out.

    • better value sure, but quality wise these are far superior. I've replaced 2 pairs of Kmart ones in the same time these are pretty much completely fine

      • According to reddit and reviews, the newest production quality is far lower than they used to be, what you said is no longer the case.

    • +1

Agreed, it blows my mind whenever I see Step One 'deals' posted and theyre $15+ for a single pair of grundies.

Tried them and they're good but no better than the Kmart Alpha range

  • $17 delivered for one pair. Not bad. Thanks

    • +25

Only because you've been marketed to that $35 for one pair of dacks is "normal".

In isolation, $17 is pretty expensive still IMO.

      • +1

True, I'm not getting regular colour tho, I just bought Edamame Balls for my beanbag cause it's cute. I'm unlikely to get a custom colour like that at Target for something that cheap for something that bold.

  • The promo code seems to just be applying a $17.50 discount to the cart regardless of purchase quantity. I bought 4 pairs for $114.50 so I could meet the AmEx deal min spend deal. Comes out to $21.13/pair after all discounts applied.

    • +6

That's not good value at all though?

      • -7

        You pay for quality.

  • +2

Good deal, can we add a referral system for step one, free pair for each referred customer as per email received

  • +2

Each to their own, but I personally think they're overrated. I have only ever bought one pair and it discoloured in the wash (despite following washing instructions). I originally paid about $16 delivered for my pair.

  • Are these low-rise? I much prefer low-rise trunks but everything these days the waistbands are bigger and bigger! These also look like high-rise undies…

  • Tried some Tackle undies recently based on some comments somewhere and find them so-so. Are these any different, seem essentially the same?

    • +1

Tackle aren't as good IMO, probably a tier below. Kmart anti ride is a good comparison

    • +2

I tried tackle, tradie, step one, bonds total package and kmart bamboo trunks (yes I wanted to test them all out).

I found tradie and step one the most comfortable. Bonds were ok. Kmart and tackle the worst.

      • When did you try StepOne? As I found that over the last few years, their quality has gone downhill. Fabric feels thinner and cheaper, and doesn't last as long.

    • Post your own deal then?

    • +1

      what? same brand?

    • -4

kmart ones are terrible. terrible cut and quality.

  • +8

I have had these for about 5 years now, when they first came out material was superior than it is now. The newer step ones i have are very comfortable but after washing takes almost 2 days to dry. They do not cool you anymore and once you sweat in them you're goign to have sweaty bum all day.

    • +3

thanks for this.. have emptied the cart

    • +3

Yes noticed this with new batches 2023.
My groin area /between my legs is always moist and sweaty.

  • +1

Eighteen bucks for one pair of undies? yeah nah

    • +1

if it's good enough for 3+ consecutive days then it'd be worth 18.. worth a shot

      • +3

I wear them front, I wear them back, I turn them inside out, and wear them front and back.

  • Prefer knobby, but for a good price why not

  • +1

Cant seem to find men's sizes for the smooth thong. Help a brother out.

  • Hehe I like my underwear 100% off better

  • +4

The bamboo viscose material wicks away moisture, keeping you feeling fresh and dry all day long.

The 2023 batch i have is the opposite.
Groin is always sweaty and moist.

    • +1

New Hydration technology? Keep the liquid in Haha

  • +2

The ‘Women’s Smooth Fit Thong’ comes down from $25 to $7.50, can’t argue with that math! 😎

  • +1

There are so many underwear brands to choose from. So. Many. Step One is probably not even in the top 20 let alone recommended.

The price is a different story however. Many underwear brands are actually quite expensive, but the quality of the top brands are really good.

Aswemove, MeUndies, Underarmour, Aussiebum, Vanta, Charlie, 2xist etc there are heaps to choose from. Brands like Nike make great exercise underwear for example. Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss do as well but not all are good.

  • +1

Ex Officio are the magic undies you seek

    • They seem expensive.

      • They are. I have a pair that are ten years old so there's that.

  • Bought 1 thank you OP

  • From $26. I get 3 years out of a pair from https://obviouslyapparel.com/

And they properly separate your tackle.

Have been buying from them for 8 years now, I used to love Mundo Unico Suspensor but the prices went galactic years back.

    • These seem to ummm…make you pop lol

"Ridiculous Junk Undies" is the term

      • The alternatives feel like they crush my junk.

    • Do they have sales?

      • Sometimes. I think I unsubscribed because they last so long I just didn't need more haha.

        • $40 each for 2 pairs delivered at 10% off is just crazy

          • @teacherer: Depends on which ones you're looking at, the ones I get start around $25.

    • -1

I wonder if that man's cut or uncut

  • +2

I am not impressed with the quality of these anymore. The non-bamboo part is really thin anf gets holes or separates at the seams really quickly.
I have switched to another bamboo product.

  • +1

I used to wear these but found they don't last that long so I now order from next.com.au : https://www.next.com.au/en/style/st372703/514908#514908

  • Thank you, bought a pair for my St Patty's Day birthday. My partner LOVES his StepOnes, I'm not so much of a fan of the women's but the novelty of getting a pair of the St Patty's Day ones (at a good price) makes me happy 🍀

  • Couldn't get a good fit from either L or XL (but obviously just me as plenty of people wear them), but as an alternative I got gifted two pairs of Vanta undies (https://vanta.store/) a couple of years back and honestly these are by far and away the most comfy undies I own.

So with my refund from StepOne I picked up a bunch more Vanta.

Very expensive but I swear by them - incredibly comfortable and lightweight - 10/10 !

EDIT: Also wanted to mention that the StepOne returns process is pretty cumbersome. a) you have to pay for return shipping b) you have to take a photo of all the undies oriented in a specific way, and c) you have to deal with the overly positive and happy canned responses from customer service.

  • +1

Not sure I get the hype for these… $17 for a single pair discounted?

I buy 3-pack Calvin Klein undies from Costco for $30 ($10 a pair) and even at that price I think it’s overpriced, but they last twice as long as bonds/underworks/tradies brands

  • Coating your genitals in synthetic plastic

  • +3

i used to swear by these, had something like 15 pairs but in recent orders their quality has gone to crap. i'd say they've changed suppliers or switched to cheaper materials because several of them fell apart within months of buying. Got them swapped as a warranty and then the new ones got holes lol. would steer away from these now.

    • I remember the days undies would last years. I mean i remember up to about 2012 i would rarely shop for undies. Now its like 2 to 3 times a year.

      Those days are gone.

    • +1

As soon as I see someone wearing these, I lose all sexual interest in the person.

      Perfect. Just bought a pair.

    • soon as I see someone wearing these, I lose all sexual interest in the person.

      Can someone confirm this

  • How do these compare to the UnderArmor Boxerjocks?
The UAs have be the best boxers I have ever worn
