Have one of these, but i reckon I bought it for like just under $50 about 2 years ago through ebay (with vouchers etc.) and barely use it. Not saying its a waste but better to ask, is it really necessary??? I think my purchase was one of the old impulse ozbargain buys.

Ran into an issue with mine last night. These have a critical design fault.

The spring loaded pins that connect the bar to the magnetic holder base get weaker over time and eventually lose contact.

I've had to pad out the recessed contacts with aluminium foil to make it work again.

Just purchased it. So once I insert the batteries via opening the back of the product, the lid won’t lock. Very frustrating and I think it may have been broken. Disappointing as the light itself is actually ok
