Divemaster Titanium 45mm/50mm - NH35 or NH34/Sapphire/200m - from US$184 (~A$283) Delivered @ Aragon Watch

50

Aragon have released some special pricing for their Divemaster range with titanium cases on rubber straps. Despite them being large watches the 45mm only weighs 3.4 oz (96g), and the 50mm is 4.2 oz (120g). You also get sapphire glass and decent water resistance with a screw-down crown, and the 50mm comes with an extra long strap for large wrists.

There's a choice of NH35 movement for a basic three-hander (45mm & 50mm) or NH34 for GMT function (50mm only), both with date windows at 3 o'clock. Quite a range of colourways, too: black, blue, green, purple, yellow, pink, and teal.

Edit: I changed the link above to a single watch so it gets a better thumbnail, click here to see the whole range.

As usual, if you use a credit card with no international fees you'll avoid extra charges.

  • I prefer the 40mm Divemaster GMT for $149 with sapphire crystal AND bezel (Ti uses a ceramic bezel insert).

It weighs even less, if that matters, at 85 grams.

    • That's also a nice one, and at a more wearable size. I've found Aragon tend to lean into the 'bigger is better' ethos, but that's not a bad thing if it's your jam. I happened to find a secondhand shop in Launceston which (quite surprisingly) had a couple of brand new Aragon 50mm watches with the Millipede bracelet. They were huge! The proprietor said he'd sold another one the week before to a person who was about 6'8" and had gigantic wrists, and apparently they were stoked about finding a watch that didn't look teeny-tiny on them.

      • Is that the Buy&Sell place, the Hungarian family?

        • It was a shop in The Quadrant, but the person I spoke to was not Hungarian.

      • He needs to be introduced to the Big Daddy watch from a few days back

  • The new Hercules in white with full lume dial looks really nice, and well proportioned at 43mm, but even with the hefty discount provided by their sale code it is still around AU$600 (US$380 in shopping cart).

    • That's probably due to the Soprod movement in it; it was researching this a while back that led me to stumble upon the Aragon brand. Similar to Ronda, Sellita, and ETA, Soprod only manufactures movements but at a slightly higher price point. Having said that, even though the company is nominally based in Switzerland their products challenge the notion of 'Swiss made' when you consider where the parts are manufactured. Still, they appear to be well-respected workhorse movements in a similar vein to the NH35 from Seiko.
