Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 256GB $1459.20 Less Trade-in Value (after $250 Trade-in Bonus & $50 Code) @ Samsung Education Store

310

This deal is on the Samsung education Store. To get the price listed you MUST trade in a device.

You also have to stack it with a $50 promo code.

I believe you can also save an additional $40 from Cash rewards.( I didn't include this in the price)

If you want to get this deal without trading in a phone it is possible to not send anything to them but you will be charged either $30 or $60 for a late/non-return fee, so account that in the purchase price.

This deal is also available for the higher storage models, but not sure about what the final prices come out to be.

You also have to stack it with a $50 promo code.

    Which promo code?

    • +2

      Probably the newsletter code.

    • I got a few codes from a few weeks ago, from a Samsung survey thing. But like Viki said I think the newsletter should work.

      • Is newsletter still a thing? Is there an URL for sign up?

        • +1

Based on the previous deal for the preorders on the S24 series, there’s no way to get the $50 newsletter code anymore

Any tips on getting an edu email fast and free?

    • +2

Ask a relative or friend doing a uni course

Maybe go to the OzBargain forums and ask to borrows someones

      • +1

worth nothing (for uni at least) alumni have access to their email too and it works you dont actually need to still be in uni

        • +3

I tried to get access to my old uni email and messaged the IT department and they said it was closed.

        • +1

WSU doesn't allow alumni email access, mind you if you go to order a transcript and know their students ID number, you can order their entire transcript without any verification of ID, just a simple ([email protected]) is enough for them to say, oh yeah this must be the person!

I told them this ages ago, they couldn't care less, and never fixed the security vulnerability.

Do not send a working phone. Dealing with Asurion is a nightmare. My son and I have been charged $180 in late fees. One of the phones has disappeared the other phones now graded as non working when they were in great condition. You have no come back. Auspost tracking say phones arrive but they don't appear in their system till 5 days later if you are lucky. There is no email, no phone number to contact them, Asurion do not respond to the conversation requests. Samsung are useless as well , Asurion does not respond to Asurions request for info. Do yourself a favour and read all the reviews for Asurion you can find them on product review.com.au whirlpool forum ozbargain forum and the best one the Samsung members where disgruntled customers want to start a class action.

Asurion biggest dodgiest ripoff scumbag scammers…….. Stay away

    • +4

+1. I ended up cancelling my Samsung order after it was lost in the mail. Have been waiting 2+ months to get my security charge back from Asurion for my old device. No replies, nothing. Worst company I've ever dealt with.

      • +1

I would recommend logging in to the asurion online portal, and manually cancelling it yourself. It worked for me.

        • +1

That's no longer an option. The Trade In expired on the 9th of Jan. No response from my requests in the portal since end of Jan.

          • @naverda95: Have you thought about doing a credit card charge back? That should get their attention.

            • @bonezAU: Yes, have a dispute lodged with bank for late fees and the $290 phone valuation. Sent an email to ACA, and will be doing ACCC and Fair Trading as have countless others as well. Have read that lots of other disgruntled customers have disputed the credit card charges but it doesn't seem to changed the way they do business.

      • Did you get your charge back??

        • Put in two disputes, $60 and $290. The $60 is being persued by the bank, waiting to hear about $290. Basically Asurion by having the phone delivered by Auspost tracking and not logging in their system for a week and then charging a late fee shot themselves in the foot. Regrading the phone to non working after they have lost it for a week means they have no credibility because I'm no longer responsible for it.

The other $120 in late fees is supposedly being refunded to my son, we'll see how long that takes. He has also been paid out the correct amounts for the trade ins.

So its really hit and miss.

        • +1

Getting both amounts back from Bank. WooHoo Now just have to get the son to do his.

Debating whether I should do a forum post to help people lodge dispute letters

    • +2

I think it's very hit or miss depending on how busy they are. Sent 2 phones back in October half-expecting some kind of issue like you mentioned but everything went smoothly. I had taken pics and videos of the working phones being packaged and sealed in the package as well just in case.

    • It took about 1.5 months to get a refund but my phone was deemed satisfactory.

      • my recent experience was also horrid experience with Asurion as well, seems like people have the same experience over at whrilpool as well.

guess its a hit and miss cos the first time i did it with them it was smooth

    • Last trade-in contract only listed $60 for non-return fee

    • +1

I traded in with Asurion during the pre-order deals in the edu store for the S24 Ultra. ( I think I paid $550 + trade in). I kept getting warning messages for not sending the phone in on time even though Auspost tracking said it was delivered. Took close to a week for them to realise the phone was delivered, but luckily I did get the full refund within the next week.

    • +3

Yep, my suggestion for anyone looking to do this deal, is to record yourself with said phone working, then proceed to take pictures of its condition and save it somewhere. My previous trade-in with Asurion, was rejected by them, and I had to contact Samsung support with evidence of my phone's condition and evidence that it was working and AS DESCRIBED, Samsung support then agreed that my trade-in was as described, and gave me a reference for said chat with support that I could forward to Asurion, telling me that I should email them and escalate it.

A few hours after it was sent, I received an email from them saying that they would now accept my trade-in, and that my held funds would be refunded within 2 weeks (it took 3). So yea, make sure you have evidence so that they can't claim otherwise and reject to accept your trade-in.

      • I'm tempted to sign up and do this but I'm about to go on holiday, so the new phone MIGHT get delivered while I'm away and I am then not home in time to mail off the trade in.

        Argh

      • I also having issue with them, after a month, they told me my phone is not in working condition and refund me with $5. I tried to contact them via the portal but seem nothing happen, no respond from them for awhile. Thanks for your suggestion, I am contacting Samsung for now. I am sure that the phone is in working condition, they were able to upload the device photos in the portal. It is so annoying

        • Is there a discrepany between the delivery date from Auspost delivering to Asurion and Asurion logging it into their system? If there is you can say Asurion lost your phone for X days and you are not responsible for the condition it is now in because they lost it. Do a dispute through your bank's card dispute section. Take plenty of screen shots, spell it out to bank with a delivery and communication timeline as to which screen shot applies. Include links to all forums that are negging Asurion, Whirlpool, productreview, samung members, include the Asurion website link which show no phone number or email provided. Explain how you dealt with Samsung in good faith and that the Asurion website uses Samsung logo and is misleading and you thought you were dealing with Samsung etc. Should be successful in getting your $$$ back.

      • Hey GachaGamer - can you tell me who you spoke to at Samsung (or at least, phone number, chat? etc?) I want to prepare to deal with Asurion to make it smooth as I can.

Expecting them to be a problem - luckily I took HEAPS of footage.

        • Just online chat support should suffice (It's what I used) - If you aren't lucky with the first support person you speak to, wait a bit and try again (I managed to do it through the first support person). Other then that, make sure to save the chat transcript if it goes well for you, and good luck with the trade in. Just note that Samsung themselves shouldn't be the one's who will raise the issue if Asurion screws you over, so you'll have to email them yourself if it happens, in my case I sent them an email with the headline about the issue, including my trade-in ID and my IMEI.

$2200 starting rrp they really pushed it to high this year

    • +4

I just dont get what the "wow" features of this phone that make me want to buy it.

I upgraded recently from an S21+ to a s23 Ultra and the only reason I did that was because I got the Ultra for $800. I think we have reached peak phone.

Only will upgrade to a fold next time.

      • +1

agree, if you can get it max $300 out of pocked difference after trade in & promos think its ok just to reset warranty & camera/ram upgrades, but its getting more ridiculous each year the prices from apple/samsung, in samsungs defence atleast they have promos to get it cheaper, but $2200 starting price it's like they want people to keep their older phones

        • +1

        AI

      • "I just dont get what the "wow" features of this phone that make me want to buy it."

The screen isn't gross curved garbage, at least 1 huge upgrade.

    • +1

i believe they'll also start charging for the AI features next year or the year after

    • But they know what their worth really is. This price is literally 30-40% off.

  • -3

This has been cheaper in previous weeks, with free 1 year Samsung care previously included. How is this a deal when it's more expensive than previous weeks?

    • +5

Let us travel back in time and buy it.

      • +1

I didn't think it was a good deal back then when it was cheaper than this. Would've posted it if I did. Certainly don't think it's a good deal now.

Plus there's people reporting delays in delivery with Samsung and an ambiguous $50 code which many cannot get.

    • +8

Its a deal for those who want to buy now, and can’t time travel back in time to benefit from past deals.

    • +1

IINM that was the pre-order deal which yes, was cheaper than this.
Nonetheless this is still technically a deal since it's savings againsts the RRP, although obviously just not as good as said previous deal.

      • This is not the pre order deal. It was at least $100 cheaper with free 1 year Samsung care in previous weeks on the education portal.

If people want to pay this amount, fine by me.

        • I'm talking about the cheaper deal you mention, which was around 1.2-1.3k + 1yr samsung care + accessories credit. It was on edu portal and partnership portals too.

Again to address your concern, this is still a deal, don't like it keep scrolling

        • If they want to buy the phone now, what choice do they have? The whole "this isn't a deal because it was $12 cheaper six years ago" thing makes no sense. Time machines don't exist bro.

    • +3

If you really think it's a bad deal, downvote it. But unless you're going to fire up the old time machine, you ain't gonna find a better price right now.

  • When not sending in a phone, do you just get charged the late fee but maintain the value of the trade in that you didn't send?
I.e: phone trade in worth 200, don't send it, charged 60, netting 140 in your favour?

    • +3

You will get charged the value of the phone + $60 fee.

Otherwise anyone can just say they're going to send in iphone 15 Pro Max 1tb for $1400 discount and only pay $60 lol

      • -1

they only charged me $30, maybe my phone value is too low.

      • Can your self assessment of the device still be that it has broken screen or whatever so the value of your trade in device is really low?

      • Lol I hadn't even considered that. Thank you!

    • I want to know this too.

    • +2

Nope, if phone trade in is worth $200 and you don't send it back, you will be charged $200 + potentially up to $60 non return fee (I'm not so sure about this charge).

      • That's correct

    • +1

Im not sure about this deal specifically, but last year I bought the S23 Ultra and "sent and traded in" a ear buds/Samsung watch which had a $5 value. The worst I thought they could charge me was the $5 + $60. So if I were you perhaps don't send an actual phone and sell it at CEX.

  • +1

Wanted to upgrade from S23 Ultra 512gb to S24 Ultra but I couldn't really justify forking out $900+

    • Same. I am just waiting for fold jow. Let see what they do have to offer.

    • +6

You really didnt miss out much from 23 to 24

      Source : I did it

      • ah thanks mate :)

  • Is this only available to students?..

    • Not Necessarily, you just need to link a student email to your account, so if you borrow a friends edu email you will be able to access it

      • +2

This is not an option for me, sad

        Thank you!

        • +1

Same. None of my friends have the student / edu. email address

    • +4

Samsung held my order for potential fraud, didn’t bother to contact me about it, and then cancelled my order. They won’t let me repurchase at a discounted price!!! They’re one of the worst companies to deal with

      • What?!
        That makes no sense!

      • Elaborate

        • +2

          That’s it

Purchased the s24, and my order was “waiting for approval” for 3 days. Doing the online chat, they said they’re following up and will contact me back (never did). Then on the 4th day, I checked the order and it had been cancelled. The online chat suggested I email the complaints team, and they responded that my order had been held for potential fraud and will be cancelled. I asked them how/why my order is fraud when I’ve been contacting them about it for 4 days, and everything is the same from previous orders (same card number, address, etc).. they couldn’t answer me why

  • Looks like same price via my work's portal as well :) will need to look into how the trade-in works though.

    • Same for my work portal, but it doesn't apply the extra 250 off until the very final stage.

  • Anyone know if the deal applies for multiple phone trade-ins?

  • +2

There is an Amex cashback of $100 for $500 spent at Samsung online store, which appears to be multi use. Samsung doesn't sell gift cards online. Otherwise could have purchased 3×500 gift cards for a potential $300 saving. Anyone know any other way ?

  • Do they only allow Samsung phone trade ins?

    • No, apple and google as well

      • My difficulty is leaving for a holiday very very soon so the S24 will possibly turn up while I'm away and therefore the trade in phone won't be sent in time either, I suspect anyhow.

        Oh well.

Maybe JB will somehow beat this tomorrow …….

        • +1

By all accounts Samsung wont send it at all.

          Source: My Experience

          • @3080killer: lol and :(

I've seen a few posts like yours. Not good sign really. Maybe because you opted for a certain colours and size combination?

  • Has anyone ordered an online exclusive colour recently and have actually received their phone? They've been saying they have no stock and don't know when they'll be able to send mine out…

    • I pre ordered 1TB s24 ultra in late Jan. Titanium grey nothing special. Samsung shop online. Still not delivered although they did split my order and provide a screen protector for a phone I haven't got… not sure how that helps. Avoid Samsung Shop if you can and Asurion well thats even worse. Customer service for both is non existent. Should have brought the iphone. Still hoping order arrives before s25 comes out but not holding breath as its probably been stolen along the way. Korean companies used to have a reputation for great service. Its part of their culture and dna. Very dissapointed with the worst phone purchasing experience ever. It took 1/2 a day just to order the phone with all the coupon stacking and discount hoop jumping magic. Samsung never again.

      • +1

Yet the models are still available to buy on the online store. I don't understand how this can happen to a newly released phone… having no stock for pre-orders :/

        • Yep. Not like there is a shortage. Just mismanagement by Samsung Australia. Best to vote with your feet.

  • ZIPPAY provide 4% instant cashback for samsung and you can use the app first purchase to get another 5% off. it could be stackable but the maxmium credit for Zippay now is $1500, so only 256GB version is the option. or you can select devices with high value which can make the total price under $1500 and then use the zippay to complete your order. Hope this help.

  • +2

Without the bonus trade in (like the last promotion), the s24 plus at $1100 is a better buy.

  • Yeah I think I might go an iPhone for a change.

    • yeah i got the 15 pro this year, first iphone
