JAL Domestic Flight from Hiroshima to Tokyo

First time travelling to Japan. While in Japan I am trying to book a ticket through Japan Airlines(JAL) from Hiroshima to Tokyo but in one of the text field its asking for an international ticket number, I have an international ticket from Sydney to Osaka and Tokyo back to Sydney booked via China Southern. My concern is I can see alot of post around forums that they do some eligibility after booking non-refundable tickets. So just want to make sure this prior to booking.

-Shall I just enter the China southern ticket number from my Sydney-Tokyo flight?
-Do I need to print my international ticket and show at the airport? Or is there any other thing that I need to be aware of before booking a domestic flight?

I wasn't able to find the information from their official website. Any experienced travellers?

Thank you.

Apart from the occasional Godzilla attack, pretty safe.

      Of course you're a racist…

or… there is still residual radiation.

You're likely getting a bigger radiation dose in the plane compared with being on the ground in Hiroshima.

          • @sumyungguy: I might travel by boat then.

            • @jv: A little radiation is good for you, can't say the same for a norovirus and/or COVID infection.

Well, we don't exactly know what would happen to anyone in a complete radiation free environment as there is always radiation everywhere, however, we do know that too much is not good for you…
                So best to minimise risk…

What next? Theme part at Chernobyl?

                Radiologists are cowards

        • Apparently no more than normal background radiation.

@BOGOF: I'd rather get that info from a reliable source that does not have a conflict of interest…

    • Ask the Mayor…

    • Not only is it safe I've heard its a blast to visit…

I didn’t need to show any proof at any time. Flew domestically a few times with JAL just a couple of weeks ago using the old cheap tourist fares.

I would just enter your flight into Tokyo as your flight.

    • Thanks

  • I used jetstar japan for my previous japan domestic flights

    • I can't see flights from Hiroshima from Jetstar though.

      • Yeah, i see that now.

Catch a ferry to matsuyama and grab a flight from there

      That is awful.

I hope you are feeling better now…

If it gets too hard the train ride is great.

    • +1 for the train. Just as quick, great views and heaps of leg room! Plus if you never done a high speed train, you should try it at least once!

      How much does that cost?

I can catch the Flinders Street to Cranbourne express at 5pm for $5.30!!!

      • Very cheap with a JR pass.

Why stop at Cranbourne? We know you live in Frankston.

        • Why stop at Cranbourne?

          To visit the Botanic Gardens

        • JR Pass went up like 50% in price. Mostly not worth it any more now.

HIJ is 50km from Hiroshima. I think there are more HIJ/HND flights with ANA.

Definitely take the train. Hiroshima airport is an hour out of Hiroshima, Haneda a good 45 minutes from central Tokyo. By the time you account for getting through security etc, the train will be just as quick and it's a far more fun and relaxing journey.

    • Using Rome2Rio's data the train takes 22min longer. I certainly prefer the train as the bus ride to the airport takes 50min.

    • Definitely take the train.

Is there a train at the airport though?

    • I did not realize that. 😳 Its about an hour drive from where I am staying at Hiroshima. The only reason I am getting the flight was just to get to the DisneySea the same day I arrive at Tokyo early morning. Thank you very much for this comment. I will re-assess my travel plan.

      • The train is probably more expensive than a flight, unfortunately.

      • Per @dtc, on a good day you can fly with ANA for $140 (plus transit to HIJ) vs $210 via Nozomi Shinkansen

  • Is this for the explorer pass tickets (the ones only for tourists?)

    • Yep it is

I would also recommend the train.
Sometimes the journey is longer but you save a lot of time not worrying about security.
The journey is more comfortable and usually with nice views on the journey.
Grab a bento box at the station and enjoy the drinks carriages that come down the aisles throughout as well.

  • Do the bullet train!

  • I have done both a few times. The train probably costs more but by the time you take into account getting to and from the airport and the costs . Stick with the train
