Google Pixel 7 Pro 128GB $899, 7a $499, Moto G54 $209, Samsung A13 5G $229 with 28/365-Day Plan (from $30) @ amaysim

The way I see this is that you could buy their cheapest plan first, $30 for 28 days and once you become their customer, you can buy any of their phones, no lock-in contracts. Phones are unlocked and ready to be used for any networks you currently have.

Massive saving for the Google Pixel 7 pro, it was $1299 and now $899. The popular Moto G54 $209 is not a bad price but not the lowest recently.

$229 is way too expensive for a basic phone released 2.25 years ago.
basically you'll have no more OS update and only 2 years of security update.
    Worth $150 to me.

    • It can be updated to Android 13

      • When everyone is updated to 14

        • Moto G14 is still on Android 13, lol.

        • You already said it's over 2 years old. Nobody looking for android 14+ is picking the Samsung out of this lineup.

  • Minimum service to go with these prices is $30/28 days, not $10.

    • You need to get the $10 plan first before you buy the phones. https://www.amaysim.com.au/sim-plans/28-day-sim-plans

      • N.B. The $10 plan offer ends 14th March 2024.

      • Have you done it?

I have a PAYG service ($10/365) and it says it is not enough. I realise that is different to what you suggest but it offers to change it to minimum $30/28 days.

        • Oh, my current plan is the ($119 / 365 days) one and that's why I didn't need to buy the $10 plan.

  • When Google Store on sale?I prefer buy from Google instead

It doesn't really matter where you got it from, as long as they are Australian stocks, I bought my Pixel 7 from JB hifi.

      • -1

It is a matter when you need to make warranty claim

        • +2

No, manufacturer fulfils the warranty. It does not matter which retailer you buy it from as long as it is Australian stock.

          • +1

@nahkk: Agree, last time I bought a 2nd hand Google Pixel 1 (long time ago) on eBay and Google still honours the warranty, it doesn't matter where you got it from as long as they are Australian stocks! Google will help you.

          • @nahkk: I experience differently before. I bought my Google Nexus 5 from Harvey Norman and Google directed me to deal with Harvey Norman instead.

            • +1

@aiyoyo: After Pixel, you can deal with Google directly. Google Nexus 5 was by LG, but after Google Pixel, it's purely Google only.

        • +1

While I do agree with you regarding warranty, Amaysim is now owned by Optus.
So I think it's still a trust worthy retailer.

      • *as long as it is Australian stock.

  • I'm trying to buy the pixel 7a andit keeps saying cart broken

    • It happened to me b4 as well, it's the website issue when too many people are using it at the same time or when it's under maintenance?

      • +1

The live chat guy on their website said to buy using incognito tab with just the one tab open. It worked

  • Update, I went to buy the 7a I put in my card details and clicked purchase re screen the popped up saying cart broken. But the money was taken out of my account and I haven't received an email as proof of purchase

    • Screenshot it with time stamp and wait for 5 business days and see how it goes.
It does take a while when transaction fails.

    • This was happening to me the other week trying to purchase Pixel 6a. Eventually the pending transaction disappears. Took about a week I think. Ended up buying on Kogan instead. Don't know why the cart was breaking.

  • You must buy a plan with the device.
So I suggest on the OP to remove the line of buying a plan first to be a customer.

You can buy without being a customer as you must buy at least a $30 plan with the phone.

This is from their FAQ in any device you choose.

Can I buy the phone without a SIM plan?
No, all the phones are sold with a SIM plan.

FWIW bought a 6a for my mother andcan confirm that Amaysim:
    - sells Australian stock
    - need to purchase a plan with the device
    - was simple to cancel the plan so that ONLY the first month's fee applied, no penalties etc - all done via online member account
    - didn't get hassled or chased by them to renew etc

Did allow getting the 6a at the best new price available in the market by about 15-20%, so worth the very small effort.

    • was simple to cancel the plan so that ONLY the first month's fee applied, no penalties etc - all done via online member account

By this do you mean turning off auto-renew?

  • Phone may be ok, but their coverage around melbourne city is $#%^&

  • Properly ticked off about this. Wish they would have extended the offer to customers currently on longer-term plans. Would have ordered an iPhone 12 but would have had to tear up 8 months of my 12 month plan. Hurrumph

    • If that is true, what's stopping you from taking up the offer and get an additional SIM card? Nothing to stop you using your existing SIM in the new phone and continuing with that plan. Just stop the automatic renewals on the new SIM, use up the data during the first month then let it expire.
