Ubiquiti AP with POE switch

  Thinking of a switch so I could get the cameras plugged in as well.

  If you have a need for more POE devices, then a switch is the way to go.

      If you want to keep it all managed under Unifi, get a Unifi switch.

      I have bought 2 Flex Mini 5 port switches and have them interspaced through the house if I want to split off my network cable to different devices. Keep in mind that you do need a controller.

      Maybe look at the Ubiquiti Dream Machine special edition? That has 8 POE ports in it plus the controller.

        Controller can be a VM/container on a server/PC, such as one you're already running (laptop, gaming PC, etc), a "new" one (i.e. such as a refurbished mini desktop, or a Raspberry Pi… noting that the refurbished desktop mini will likely be a cheaper option than a new Pi!).

        Also note that (if you don't care about tracking your own statistics, traffic, analytics, etc) you don't need to run the controller 24/7. You can just boot it up and use it when making configuration changes, and the installer is available for Windows.

  Either would do the job, just check with you need POE or POE+ for your APs and that the switch supports it.

  From memory, the U6 Lite is POE Plus.

  If you wanted to, go a Dream Machine SE, has POE ports on the front. Gives you the whole controller and all in one. Plus supports cameras for recording in the future with the HDD. You can get a Dream Machine SE for under $1k generally.

  If you want to save on the switch get a Netgear unit with 8 Poe ports. Second hand if you’d prefer.
  UniFi, I’d look at either the 8 or 16 port lite switch. Both much lower por budget tho.

  Pretty much anything if you're looking for an unmanaged switch (and it sounds like are you looking for an unmanaged switch). I'd go along with the secondhand Netgear recommendation- I've got an old Prosafe which is great. Unmanaged switches are pretty much like milk though- total commodity item with little differentiation.
