God i wish this were curved.

Most of the ultrawides are curved. I think it’s great there are some flat options.

    • yeah, its unfortunately none of the computer stores I went to had this on display… really want to see it in action before committing…

Anyone with experiences on this monitor?

      • +1

I bought this monitor since I didn't want OLED burn-in problem (even though warranty covers it I wouldn't be bothered to ship and exchange) and it was priced at $999 which was great as there aren't many alternatives. I used to own acer x34 slight curve and switching to this flat didn't make much difference as you eventually get used to it. It is on the thicker side and the blooming depends on your viewing angle, if you look at it front on you don't really see it but if you view at different angles then it becomes more apparent.

        • I'd love to know your experience when it comes to the brightness of this monitor. What do you use it for?

TFT Central has reviewed this monitor:
          https://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/aoc-agon-pro-ag344uxm
And the review says that the high default brightness might not be good for office/spreadsheet work. I don't really understand how that might be a thing, unless you work in a dark environment, so I'd love an alternate perspective.

          • @kingxeratul: Yes sure, it was very bright at factory settings such that the monitor gets quite warm when you touch it. It also kinda hurt my eyes at night initially however once you play around the settings it was okay. I use it for work (wfh) and also gaming and youtube.

For me personally I use HDR and turn off low dimming for gaming and HDR off for work. I do use spreadsheets a lot and didn't find it too bright but maybe that's because I use dark/grey theme on most of my office application, I can also turn down the brightness or use warm setting so the white is not too harsh on the eyes.

            Hope that helps.

            • @MrKD: It really does, thank you. It's the sort of mixed use that a lot of people will use it for, myself included.

Not having to worry about burn-in, even with a 3-year warranty that most OLED manufacturers now provide on, is much better for the old peace-of-mind. I've had the monitor I am looking at replacing for 6 years, and it was second hand already. 3 years warranty isn't enough for me.

A couple of reviews on Reddit, it doesn't look good. Mentioning of blooming mostly. Characteristic of mini LED

It doesn’t have enough dimming zones unfortunately.

      • 1152 dimming zones. Not great, not terrible. It'd be overkill if they put like the bare minimum of engineering hours into tuning the dimming zones algorithm, but they clearly didn't.

Sony's X90K range of TVs (65"-85") have some of the best (least) blooming in the industry, with only 30-60 LEDs, thanks tuning the algorithm.

        • My mistake. I thought it had half the amount, so I must've been thinking of a different display.

        • +1

It is my understand that the X90K and maybe even X90L range of TVs are VA panels, which explains the reduced blooming. This monitor is IPS, which has a harder time handling blooming.

          • @kingxeratul: Oh yeah that's a good point. Still, those Sonys stand out against competitor VA TVs, and very much doubt AOC tuned the algorithm on this monitor.

That's unfortunate, would ruin it for me personally it's a shame because I would choose miniLED over OLED due to burn in for PC monitor but seems like a lot of models have issues

    • Pretty sure that is a windows issue. They mention it happened when HDR was turned on and we all now its usually a mess.

      • +1

Blooming around dimming zones is not a windows thing. It's the monitor.

        • Well for the situation in this reddit post it does seem to be a windows issue.

          • @Gronkmaster69: In the post from /r/monitors? They don't conclude that in the post.

It's a windows issue only in that the windows cursor is small, white and can move fast against a dark background.

            • @NoshTwin: In the description he mentions it happens when he turns on HDR mode, which is known to be rubbish on windows. And when he turns it off, there are no issues.
