Will a USB-A to USB-C Adaptor Charge My Android Phone on a Planes USB-a Charger?

I have a long flight with Jetstar and they have usb-a charging ports which arnt compatible for an android cable using usb-c.

Would a simple usb-a male to usb-c female adapter do the trick or am I missing something?
Any concerns to damaging the phones battery connecting it this way?

Example usb-a to usb-c

Thanks

I have never had luck with these cheap adaptors , why not just get a usb a to usb c cable, never had a issue with those even the cheap ones.

    • Yeah, that is a reasonable alternative. Thank you

    • Yep. best and cheapest fix !

    Source?

Been on many plans and all the USB-A ports are fine to charge phones, including androids with USB-C

      How do you connect a usb-c male, i.e. usb-c cable to a usb-a female, i.e. usb-a charging port..?

Most USB-C charging cables are USB-A on the female end, so it's pretty normal to charge a Samsung for example on one.

        By using a USB-A to USB-C cable…..

If its all too hard for you, just take a power bank with you and charge from that.

        • I get you now, you were always referring to a cable. Had something else in mind

    • jetstar's fleet of narrowbody airbus a321 neo have these

  • It won’t damage your phone. It may not work, or work but charge really slow (like, 2.5W charging versus 12W charging at home using mobile charger )

  • Of course it won't damage the battery.
You will just get whatever the highest voltage and current that both your phone and the charger supports, so maybe something like 5V 1A or 5V 2A.

For security reasons, avoid plugging your phone into public usb ports. Use a powerbank, change it on the plane when empty.

Yes, heard about this. They can install malware via a cable, better to use your own powerbank, or use the USB to charge your powerbank, then to use your powerbank to charge your phone.
