Is this the one made with lead?

    • +1

      sorry?

      • +1

“Our manufacturing process currently employs the use of an industry standard pellet to seal the vacuum insulation … the sealing material includes some lead. Once sealed, this area is covered with a durable stainless steel layer, making it inaccessible to consumers,”

        -Stanley

Meh. I got the COVID jab. A little lead won't hurt me.

          • @pharcyde: Arteries are protected by the fibrous clots.

      • Someone took some lead testing swabs to it and the drinking surfaces tested positive for lead.

Also tested yeti and another brand that both tested negative

I dont mean to troll but I genuinely can't see the appeal of Stanley, it's big clumsy, what is the distinguishable features compared to other stainless steel travel mugs?

    • +6

Dont worry its just American logic, all about status or something like that for having a stainless steel mug - works on their consumers, probably not ours

Those in the know use Yeti tumblers

      • +1

I personally use Yeti too. Not cheap I know but at least it's functional looks decent and easy to clean

        $10 decor from woollies.

Never had a drink that needed to be hot/cold for 12 hours

      • my other half wanted one of these Stanley's, i came home with a Yeti 36oz with a Straw Bottle Cap and said 'dont be that person, use a Yeti' lol….it was an absolute fortune though. The only Stanley we have in the home is the Stanley Cup when the San Jose Sharks win the NHL…never.

        • I just want a yeti tumbler with a flip straw lid so it won't spill everywhere if it gets knocked over. Haven't found something like it.

    • +1

      i dont get it too.
Its all marketing. Make a few people say its amazing and everyone wants one and be apart of owning something and showing it off.

I like the Amazon review from jovana

I didn’t think it would be so heavy but it does hold ice for a long time. Also if I am walking at night alone it can double as a weapon.

Project Farm ran a series of interesting tests on different brand of tumblers recently

  • I love how on Amazon it doesn't show one picture of anyone drinking out of it…. Because it's massive and hard to drink out of

  • As someone who sometimes likes warm or hot drinks in the car (hence I like a straw), I'm always surprised the Camelbak Eddy+ Insulated (which you can get at Woolies) is left out of most of these review comparisons. Maybe people hate the bite valve? I like that you can dishwasher the whole thing (although I usually just do the lid and straw, as I've read some reviews saying the body can get streaks if chucked in the dishwasher).

Obviously it's a different use case, but as a thermos, we love our Zojirushi. Can also do double hot and cold duty (with reviews showing it beats almost all competing thermoses for both), doesn't leak, and being thin it's great for those with smaller hands or just after something more space efficient.
