I got 2 x 3kg boxes of this the last time it was on sale and I think these are pretty good value.
Extra Large Green King Prawns also available for $25/kg (Was $29/kg)

Yeh you ask them if u can get a box of it and theyll give u one which is 3kg
dont they have to defrost before you can purchase though? apparently its a thing because I've been denied before because they hadn't thawed…maybe i was simply stitched up by a lazy employee
not usually they give it to u as is and they mark it as 3 kgs
They said the same to me, when they thaw them they lose some water and you get more product in a kg let's say
i second this lol…. i'd take a 3kg box
Yes, just ask them if they have the 3kg box available. From what I've read, buying them frozen (rather than thawed) is the next best option after buying them freshly caught off a trawler because they are frozen on board soon after being caught.
Only at certain stores.
Please name store u bought it at. My store still listed 29
I just searched online trying a few stores for each state and it seems to be nationwide? Maybe some stores are excluded.
Not at my local either but the frozen kurumba ?banana prawns are $22/kg (usual price) and they're nice
6kg of prawns sounds like an awful lot of prawns
I made a wonderful Prawn Bisque with this receipe. Was a bit messy as I did not have an immersion blender (I had a Bamix with the herb chopper option) but was one of the most intense and delicious bisque I can remember. Remember to strain the soup post blending to get rid of the excess shell matter.
Darn, had to do a double take - I thought that pile of prawns in the deal image was the Millennium Falcon!
Buying the still frozen 3kg box is tops…. Just use when needed
Had these at Xmas and they were a hit
Looks like it’s on sale for 2 weeks and it’s in this weeks catalogue.
How did you buy the box? Just ask the person to give you 3kg of it?
Thanks!
