      Much cheaper. Thanks

Yep hold out for under $1500 on x90L, maybe even consider "box damage" as havent seen anyone complain that its actually box damaged. Also with box damage you still get all your consumer protections for item inside as only box should be damaged.

      • as havent seen anyone complain that its actually box damaged

i think there was a post about actually getting a damaged TV

        • I got a 2nds which had no damage to the box but just wouldn't turn on….motherboard/PSU issue.

          • @knasty: Were you able to get a exchange?

            • @nightelves: They would have sent another but given the obvious issues with QA and other bad experiences I'd read about I decided to cut my losses and get a refund. As I bought during black Friday this stuffed me around as all other specials were over and they refused to give me a better deal on other items.

I was waiting to get an X95K/X95L in a sale but actually stumbled on 65" A80J new from their normal website a few weeks back at $2200. With the 5% new customer discount and a decent cash rewards deal at the time I pulled the trigger on that and am very happy with the set.

8% cashback on sony website brings it to $1689

  • Anyone has a reconmendation for a TV thafs 35" or under

    • Only 32" I could find when looking is a shitty TCL. It has Android TV, but much nicer adding a Google TV

  • 75 X90L at this price vs 75 C845 at $2200?

    • +3

The X90L is the better TV despite the fact that the C845 has a MiniLED display and the Sony is regular LED.

Really wish Sony would hurry up and bring the X95L out. Its only available at a few select stores but is pretty much the best non-OLED tv on the market

Edit: I would pay a little extra and get the 75 X95K, it craps all over the X90L

      • I have the x95k. It’s very good already. Not sure the significant price jump is worth the marginal improvement. The 75 is currently discounted to $3k.

        • yeah the X95K is a fantastic tv but I need a 2nd one for our HT room and I cant find the 85 in stock anywhere. I think its pretty much been discontinued in that particular size.

        • +1

When I got 75" x95k for $2600 delivered it was a good value proposition, not for $3000. Good tv though not without its niggles and things that bug me (though I have learned to live with them as pros are great and I knew not being OLED was going to have drawbacks).

Honestly for actual value the 65" x90L should be $1500, 75" x90L should be $2000, and 75" x95k should be $2500 to pull the trigger. Either that or wait for OLED Sales coming up March/April

          • @Savvy shopper1111: What sales are in March/April?

I'm in the market for the best value 85" to go in our HT room but house won't be finished until June/July.

            • +1

@killabob: Well if you have the space consider buying it and keeping it in garage or other room until its complete. Only downside is the insane weight for some of the larger TVs. I know the 75" x95k was 42kgs which I thought was a bugga to wall mount even with 2 people 🤯

        • You're a legend. I didn't jump on this last time it was on sale and I've been DYING for the X95K to go on sale again!!

  • Are we thinking these will drop further when the next models come out in a few months? hoping for the 85inch for under $3K

    • +1

Pretty sure 85" model has better panel than the smaller versions of x95k if I recall correctly

Strange but not the first tv to have different panels/hardware for different sizes. Annoys me to no end as misleading to consumers. Call it a new model name/number if it has major changes to the product over others in the lineup

Do these tv have VRR and 4k 120hz for gaming?

TGG Website dies not outline this.

Cheers been waiting for a deal/Decent Price on the Sony 85" X90L , picked it up with damaged box from Sony Ebay using Febsave $100 off for $3149.

  • My x90L has a coil CPU whine when watching HDR content. Anyone else noticed this. Happens when using Chromecast and scrolling through the Netflix menu and associated content.

    • using the onboard Google TV apps or using a separate Chromecast?

      • Separate Chromecast. Will try using inbuilt but is a known issue

        • If your using a seperate Chromecast your losing the benifits of the inbuilt XR chip for processing, it's pure CPU grunt..

  • These prices aren't bad at all. I was waiting for these when my TV died early this year, but a flash sale on the x90k in April made me pull the trigger. I'm aware that the x90L makes for a superior TV. That being said, the now current display in my game room has been very very satisfying and like a salesperson once told me many years ago, the 'best' display is the one you're actually looking at.

    • +1

X90L is a big jump especially in backlight performance, way more dimming zones just for starters. Some years small incremental changes happen year to year but the jump from K to L is a big one

      • I don't doubt that at all.

Just that the viewing and gaming experience on my current 10 month old x90k has been satisfying enough that I don't have an itch to scratch.

    • like a salesperson once told me many years ago, the 'best' display is the one you're actually looking at.

      Wut.

      • The salesperson and I meant that whatever I bring home and watch in my lounge will be the 'best' display as I won't be comparing it side by side in a show room when I get home.

As an aside, I've reached the point that if I was happy with what I chose, and it continues to do what I want it to do without fail, then I'm happy. I'm not suddenly going to feel unhappy down the line just because there's a new 'better'. It's proven to be much healthier for my pocket. So far, in the last 20 years, every new TV I've bought has only been because an old one died or there is a feature that I NEED that the old one can't do.

      • It's basically another saying for Coupium.

Looking for similar model in 85 inch. do they usually have sales in this size or I should get 75?

    in dilemma.

  • Picked up a 65" damaged box from Sony eBay FEBSAVE 1650. Not as good as the last 1500 deal but oh well.

  • Just cancelled need to do more research but I can't find info on the Hisense U8KAU the Aus model isn't as good as is an IPS panel. Is the U8KAU better than this?

    • Typing this on PC connected to 65 inch U8K now. My first unit was buggy, had the main board replaced and it was still buggy. Got a replacement and the bugs are (mostly) gone now, just a network issue now where it doesn't like it if you change from LAN to wireless and certain apps (YouTube, Plex) give a network error, even though the TV is connected and other apps like Netflix have no issue.

Performance-wise, wow! This thing has excellent black levels (shadow detail is good but either missing some details or they are overbrightened by activating 'dark detail' or 'dynamic tone mapping) and the brightness and colour volume are sensational. I've measure the peak light output at 2300 nits. It's excellent for a bright room. If you are a purist and don't have a particularly bright room, get the Sony as it's better with image processing so sports and movies will look a bit better.

If you just want to brightest and most colourful gaming experience, get the U8K. I'm usually a total OLED snob (LG C1 and Panasonic GZ1000) but the Hisense has wowed me enough that I'd consider a mini-LED with quantum dot for my next gaming TV.

U8K is $100 more than this sale price for the X90L though. Either way you're getting an excellent mid-range TV.

      • Thanks man, where is it on sale?

        • +1

JB Hi-Fi and Good Guys have the 65-inch U8K for $1895 and VideoPro has it for $1788.

      • Is the Hisense 75" on sale?

        • $2388 probs be delivery charges on top.

I don't know if this is even the cheapest price, I just pumped in "U8K 75" here.

        • The TCL C845 is pretty much the same TV, just with some differences in the implementation. Seeing as the C845 75-inch is almost identical in price to the U8K atm, I'd go with the TCL for sure. Both have 3-year manufacturer warranty too.
