Looking for Recommendations for Home Office PC Budget $600-$800

So Uni is starting up again and I'm studying remotely.

My Pa is lonely after losing his wife recently and would like me to set up an office at his place, I have my main pc I use for design work at my place so I'm looking to buy/ build a second PC to use in his office for class, note taking, study and some light illustrator, photoshop and InDesign work.

I have an extra set of ddr4 ram and an nvme, so I'm wondering should I build a budget rig or have been looking at the msi cubi 12m https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/branded-systems/nuc-&-mi…

Any recommendations on either parts or a prebuilt?

If you aren't in a rush, I have been told this deal is coming back mid-March

If you don't need a gpu, ram and ssd, you can build a decent pc for $600.
Or you can get a refurbished Dell/Lenovo mini pc, it will be small and quiet, and should be enough for office work:

The way to get the most value for your money, if you don't need gaming, is not to buy new.

But an refurbed end of lease small computer. There are plenty of small Lenovos and Dells, and HPs available. I have a couple of HP T640 thin clients with Ryzen CPUs, laptop RAM, and NVMe SSDs in them that are perfectly adequate for internet and office use, and have years of life left in them.

If you're happy to pay more, get a miniPC/NUC.

  • Case (~$100) + 5600G (~$200) + Mobo ($100) + (use your RAM) + (use your NvMe) = laughing

You won't get a refurb/cube/mini that comes close to the above CPU nor GPU performance for the same price :P

    • That's what I'm leaning towards. 5600g or 5600gt?
