Amazon Refund Delay

We bought Iphone 14 from Amazon but then decided to return after 3 days as found a better deal.

Amazon initiated the return and parcel was successfully delivered 3 weeks ago.

Amazon chat rep is not ready to help and keep on saying its within wait timelines and they can't escalate until 6 weeks have elapsed.

This is really frustrating to see big companies like Amazon sitting on refund for 6 weeks.

Is there a quick way to get the refund from Amazon? Credit card chargeback would also take its time.

    You agrred to the tnc when you used the website and purchased the item. Unfortunately, there is no delay (yet). Chargeback would probably result in account closure.

      Which tnc are you referring to?

      This is from their website so they are clearly in breach of their own process.

    Probably because it's a high value item, IIRC items over $1000 need special approval to be refunded so the chat agent cannot just issue the refund willy nilly

    Not uncommon for high value or high risk/fraud items. It’s shown clearly in the return process.

        The GPU I returned showed the same thing. It had a timeline of several steps amounting to 30 business days or such.

        Normal for high value and potential high risk fraud items. You’re claiming a change of mind return that they’re not obligated to provide in the first place and has cost them money for nothing. It’s not unreasonable to wait for their process to complete.

        In certain circumstances refund time frames may be longer.

        If you "found a better deal" for the exact same item, why not ask for a one-off Goodwill Credit for the difference?

    This is the exact reason why all the steps are in place and why others have to wait longer than necessary. You returned this basically because you changed your mind. They don't even need to entertain your request for a refund but they have. You just need to wait.

      They are offering return as per their policy so not doing a favour.

      If they don't want to do it then they should change their policy.

        There are reports of people putting the exact weight inside a box and redoing the shrinkwrap so I'm sure they want to be careful with a high value item like yours.

        I don't know exactly what they are doing for your case but you'll just have to wait while they complete their process.

    Change of mind returns should be paid in store credits only for all retailers. No cash refunds.

    I had to return a PS5 I bought as a gift over Christmas, it was about 3 weeks after Amazon received it that they initiated the refund and few more days to my cc.

    Can probably thank the scammers for the delay.

    I bought a $1400 item and returned it. Took about 27 days (after they received it). Im just happy i could return it.
