720

Howdy howdy howdy!!

Ducky Miya range (expect for one for some inexplicable reason) is half price at PC Case Gear ★彡
Various models and styles at this price and apparently they are quite nice little keyboards! Can’t speak from experience as I don’t have one but from what I’ve seen, ducky keyboards are generally regarded quite well, maybe one would be nice for you or someone in your life?

Some very pretty colourways also (^ω^)

Hope this helps someone out (^o^)

  • Beautiful brand and keyboards.

Damn shame this is wired. 😞

    • +7

      Aww but wired is faster!
Well I hope you find a deal on a lovely wireless keyboard soon (^з^)-☆
I’ll make sure to post about it if I find one!

      • +7

Latency seems to be a bit high for wired keyboard at 12.2ms.

    • +2

I gotta say i changed back to a wired keyboard at my house after using 2 wireless mechanical keyboard for ages - and I would not go wireless again for home.

Logitech one the USB receiver broke on it meaning it could not be used.

Royal Kludge one latency and connection on the 2.4Ghz was always unstable and slow to wake - and the battery would die fast.

My advice would get wired, a nice cable and good cable management and it looks good and works much better.

      • +1

You could buy a replacement usb receiver for the Logitech one. From my experience they’re the same across the line. Someone correct me if I’m wrong

        • +1

Nah unfortunately, it was a light speed one which was linked to the specific keyboard.

But the normal mouse ones you can.

I ended up getting it replaced on warranty then the second one broke and it was out of warranty.

        Royal Kludge one

That's the one I'm using at the moment. I used the BT but that was unstable, so I've switch to 2.4g and so far so good.

I have one of those mini beelink that sits on my desk, so that might be why it's a little more stable than a mini tower that you have under your desk.

Can't have wire, I have a puppy that likes to sleep on my desk and if there is wire around, he'll chew on it to go to sleep. Lol.

So.. wire and no puppy sleeping.. or problematic wireless but with puppy sleeping.

        I'll go for the latter.

    • Wired = no need to charge and not as heavy. A cord doesn't matter to me at all.

  • Are the keys normal?
I had some similar, and it didn't have control alt keys for some reasons.

    • You can just look at the pictures in the listing to see the key configuration. If you left click the image it will expand it.

    • -1

Most of the time they have switches on the rear you can reconfigure the command buttons (control, alt, win, function etc)

      • +1

These Ducky don't seem to have those switches on the rear?

    • Afraid I don’t know any more than you do, but it seems some fellow OZBargainers might come in clutch here!

  • +1

Nice find! Ducky keyboards are beautiful!

    • +5

The Sakura one is especially beautiful to me but I don’t think I could go without my RGB ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ
If it doesn’t light up pink, do I really need it? Hehehe (^ー^)

  • Anyone know what the difference is between Varmilo EC Violet V2 switches and Varmilo EC Jasmine V2 switches?

  • +2

If only if had hot swap sockets. I would have immediately purchased if it had.

    • +2

It's an Vamilo EC switch, it uses slightly different technology to what Cherry MX style switches use.
Frankly I don't understand too much about the difference, outside of, they use different tech and the PCBs are not compatiable.

I think there are 4 variants of Vamilo EC switches.

    Missing some keys…

    • +7

Hope they find them 🤞 (^_-)

      • Not for $99😟

  • Is there anywhere we could try the keyboard?

    • Oh I’m not sure… maybe a local computer shop has a display model?

  • -3

I have a ducky - would not buy another one. the keycaps are garbage and keep breaking, the keyboard itself is buggy and keeps requiring firmware flashes. Keyboard nerds hate them, and I now see their point.

If you want an off the shelf mechanical keyboard just go keychron.

    • +1

interesting, I've had a couple of Ducky One's for 6 years and have had two issues in that time: occasional chattering with one spacebar, and a pgdn keycap has had the label rub off. They get fairly heavy use. Are the quality issues recent/specific to certain models or did I get lucky?

    • Oh man, that’s unfortunate (._.)
Have you had it for long? Especially with the keycaps breaking, I’d hope it would be quite old before that happens 😬

    • +1

I think this one is more varmilo than ducky, varmilo have always been pretty good except they’re expensive for minimal functions offered. They sell key caps designs more than the keyboard itself.

    • Beg to differ. I've had my Ducky Shine since 2012 and the only faulty thing about them is the LED flashing intermittently, which you can turn off anyway. It's been trashed over the years through work and gaming and still works perfectly. Would buy again.

    • Not been my experience. Have 4 Duckys, 1 is 5-6 years and they are all amazing still.

      • +4

You’ve basically got a whole pond worth of em! (≧∀≦)

  • Sakura one good as a gift for a casual? I assume get the Red for a less clicky keys?

    • +1

I suppose that would depend on their setup and if they are particularly bothered with the faster response rate from it being wired and mechanical.

I expect it’s broadly going to be excess for most casuals but given the discount price point, it’s hard to see it’s going to be a bad call over any membrane keyboard.

Oh and the aesthetics are quite unique, for the sakura one especially, if that is of value to your gift recipient then I would say: yes! (^ω^)

      GL either way!

      • +1

It's for the aesthetics for sure, haha.

        • In that case, go for it! I’m sure they will love it (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

  • +1

    its so pretty !!

  • I dropped some tea on to one my my key, I cleaned the key cap, is there a way to remove the switch and clean it? Cherry brown switch if it matters.

    • Try reddit for this question, I’m sure there’s a tech support sub that would be happy to help out and more qualified than most anyone here
      All the best! (^з^)-☆

    • How are you with a soldering iron?

    • What keyboard is it? It might be easy to remove the switch (since most of the keyboards nowadays are hotswappable) or otherwise, desoldering might be needed.

If it is causing issues with input and you don't have a desoldering machine, you can potentially try to clean it using isopropyl alcohol. That shouldn't cause issues, but do it at your own risk.

      • Shine 7

        • Looks like you'd need to desolder the thing. You might be able to ask someone to just desolder that switch, open it up and clean it.

Otherwise, contact cleaners and spray the inside of the affected switch with it, press it several times to get rid of the gunk and lay it upside down while it is pressed so that things can drip out? Again, do it at your own risk.

  • No cherry brown, no deal.

    • +1

      No woman, no cry

  • Howdy! :3

    • +1

Howdy! I’ve been playing RDR2 so I’m saying it a lot hehehe (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)
