Why Techfast Accept Orders When They Do Not Even Have Enough Stock?

Just a rant post.

Ordered on 7th Feb, the ETA according to TechFast 5-10 business days approximately. As there was no communication or update regarding my order after the initial confirmation email, I sent an email on 12th Feb, got a reply next day.

Reply: order is currently in the queue for build. Estimated 5-10 business day.

After waiting for 10 business days, sent another email on 20th Feb, there was no reply at all.

Sent another email on 21st Feb, and finally got the reply.

Reply: Unfortunately waiting on the GPU for your order, current eta is later this week and then only my system will begin the build process as soon as we have received the required stock.

I order the GPU to be shipped separately, why do they even have to wait for the GPU and then only start building my system.

I understand, things does not goes as planned all the time. The estimated time can also change and move around but you can't keep your customers in the dark. If you cannot process the order in time, change your ETA, communicate with the customers.

You are continuously posting on OzBargain with so many deals. If you do not have stock, let everyone know.

You can offer a change in the spec, there are so many ways you can provide a better customers experience.

Every single post you have on OzBargain, there will be at least one comment, asking for the delivery date. Nobody wants to spend a huge amount of money and then keep on waiting without knowing when they will receive the order and the estimated day is only for dispatch, afterwards Australia Post will take its own time.

Thank you for reading, I hope TechFast can improve the process.

Edit 1: fixed typo because this is the important part of this whole message to someone

why do they even have to wait for the GPU and then only start building my system.

so they can test the whole PC… otherwise there'd be a piss and moan thread about it not workin properly why dont they test PC's before shipping.

    YMMV

    • +3

That doesn't make sense they could build it and slot the GFX card in as the last step, then test it.

The real answer is that it takes so little time to build there is no point building a half made one.

  • That makes sense Thanks for pointing out.

    Still no communication at all.

    • +2

the no communication thing is a bit average of them if thats really the case.

imagine in a cut-throat industry like pc builds where they always go on about margins too low - you'd think they would prioritise something like service to try and differentiate themselves.

          I beg to differ.

No need to beg, just re-read Jimothy's comment.

@jv: So you will be wiling to purchase from a place where most of the reviews are one start due to bad service. No matter how good is the deal?

You can't even post on Ozbargain if the seller must does not have a minimum of 90% feedback, based on at least 50 seller (not product) ratings over seller lifetime.

That clearly showing how important ratings are. Bad experience means, bad rating

Edit: Beg to differ means politely disagree. if you were not aware

              @faisalmukhtarch: Again, reread jimothys comment.

              • @brendanm: I am still trying to grasp on what jimothys commented. Having a low-margin business in a cut-throat industry == not letting the customer know they are out of stock and keep on accepting orders.

Does not make sense, no matter how many time I read jimothys comment.

I'm guessing that English isn't your first language then?

                    Quite obvious, Jules.
What other language can you speak/write - so that we can compare it to Faisal's English?

@faisalmukhtarch: jv is saying (in a passive-aggresive way) that Jimothy is actually agreeing with you. They agree no communication is poor and also agree that good communication is an important way a business in a competitive industry can get noticed by customers.

            • @faisalmukhtarch:

So you will be wiling to purchase from a place where most of the reviews are one start star

That has nothing to do with Jimothy's comment.

Regardless, you still chose to purchase from them… Why were you willing ???

@jv: That's the reason of this post. Ranting out.

Made a mistake once, won't make it again. Won't vouch for them, won't refer them.

              • @jv: Thanks for spending sometime to respond on few of my comments.

I am just curious to know, If they are out of stock and they did not updated the customer. Why this is not something as a customer bothers you. Are you willing to wait if they never update you? How long you will wait? Will you be a happy customer at the end of the day? Just your prospective, if you don't mind sharing.

Maybe I am wrong here, maybe I not

@faisalmukhtarch: Mate, I think Jimothy agreed with you, not contradicting you. You misinterpreted his reply.

                • @faisalmukhtarch: techfast may need be the only issue here.
Did they email you and you didn’t properly read their response?

    Why Techfarce Accept Orders

They have a reputation to maintain.
Basic due diligence would have alerted you to their service

    • Thanks for pointing out.

      Indeed, mistakes were made.

I understand your frustration. I'd feel the same way.

    To play devil's advocate here,

Techfast builds are often ~10% (or more) cheaper than the cost of the individual parts. We're now in a time where it's no longer cost effective to build your own pc. Not with companies like Techfast. But to do that they must minimise risk.

Their supplier likely provides them with a list of available parts and quantities. TF then design builds around that list. TF receive the orders, order the parts, and build.

By having the parts on hand they would risk being left with stock they can't use anymore (they don't sell individual parts), and that loss would need to be made up for by higher build prices.

This is why the 4080 system I bought last year for $3000 is around $3800 elsewhere. Minimising risk.

To put your mind at ease, my experience with TF has been pretty solid. When my PC arrived I found the right channel didn't work when I plugged in my headphones to the front IO. Upon inspection I found the wire responsible for the right channel had disconnected from the header in transit. After showing this to Caleb from TF, he sent me out a replacement without any fuss. So while I can't comment on your experience and the reasons why, I can encourage you that they don't ignore you once they have your money.

I will buy from them again.

    • Thanks for responding and sharing your experience. I hope everything will turn out well for me as well later on.

If they are operating on tighter margins (cheaper than the competition) they probably dont keep lots of stock on hand which helps keep their prices down. If you expected stock on hand they'd probably be more expensive.

    TL;DR: Re-read Jimothy's comment.

  • Moral of story: Want it now? Buy a prebuilt POS from Dell.

    • And be stuck with it forever, unless you sell or bin it. Bastards won't die.

Just wanted to chip in to say we are very much aware of the frustration that can occur when shipping times slip. Some of this arises from the Ozbargain community's desire for more transparency and exact specification of the parts being used in builds. While I completely get the reasons why it is desirable, and we're doing our best to cater to it, it is also far less flexible than where we are able to use a range of equivalent parts. There is quite a long supply chain behind PC parts leading to the completed PC - manufacturing, shipping to Aus, customs clearance, shipping to distributor, processing at distributor, shipping to us, processing at us, build and test, and shipping to customer. Any delay in those steps before it reaches us has a knock on effect. Communication wise, we go through the distributor, who then has to go to the manufacturer or shipping agent to get updates, back to disty, back to us, all of which take time, and can (and absolutely does) also create innaccuracies in information. Then, there are more factors than just this at play, each of which is just as complex as the above (and some of which people have correctly identified above), so when you stack them all up, it's not a simple thing to manage. We're not perfect but we absolutely do our best, and appreciate everyone's patience and understanding if things don't go according to plan every time.

  • I ordered on feb 24 and it even took money out of my account
i confirm the secondary credit card details and still when i email them on tuesday im told to do it again.
Provided the confirmation and the small fee taken out
still no confirmation that my order is being built #TF4881222666
