  • Does this mean in NSW you can get $100 digital mastercard AND $250 signup credit?

    • for gas and electricity both

  • How long do you need to be with them for to get the card?

    • supposed to be 30 days, but I have applied for my card and been approved but not received it yet

    • +1

Literally in the terms of the deal.

"Customers must provide a valid email address and mobile number and must remain on their chosen AGL energy plan for at least 30 days from sign up."

      • Yeah but when you sign up, it says 12 month contract.

        • +3

But it is also a no lock-in contract and no exit fees.

  • -6

I got this offer last year but it was a Analogue Mastercard.

    • +1

Ive never heard that term is it coined by yourself? Do you go out a do anaglogue excercise?

  • +1

Do you have to prove you are a Westpac customer?

  • Signed up last time this deal was on I think in early
Jan. Still waiting on the gift card

    • Have you called agl? Any reason offered as to why the delay?

    • Same here. Chased them and they claim email was sent but we didn't click link within 30-day window, thus we forfeit. Fighting with them about this now.

Contact to chase is either 1300 001 017 or email [email protected]

      • +1

You are kiddng. I am still waiting too, I was told it was coming when I clicked link. Havent received it.

        • I followed them up from the last one via chat, who advised to email them at [email protected]

Then the following day I got the email for the gift card, and completed everything, but still haven't received the gift card…

    • Same

      • +2

Finally, after repeatedly emailing, asking for a formal complaint number etc and always getting a 'It has been escalated', response, I told them that I would be raising an Ombudsman complaint irrespective of whether they supplied a complaint number and surprise, next day received email and then SMS to download virtual card.
Don't give up, and if need be lodge a complaint

        • How long did you have to wait for SMS? I'm bit worried as I waited like one day, still no news :(

          • @Bankster: @Bankster I sent the email in the evening and received the email about midday. Received the SMS to download the virtual card using the Vault app a couple of hours later.

            • @mattmel96: Thanks a lot for your advice. Sounds like I have to contact the customer support.

  • Can you use any Westpac entity? e.g. St George?

  • Signed up as Westpac Customer to receive extra $100 on top of $150 credit? Vic based. Can anyone confirm this?

  • +1

This is a scam. I never got it despite following everything down to the dot

    • Did they email you a card link? Mine doesn't work

  • Do you need to enter code anywhere? I just signed up using the link but didn't ask for any code/validation that I'm a Westpac customer..

    • +5

According to the terms you only need the code if you call them to sign up. Using the link is fine without the code.

  • I applied but not a Westpac customer. Let's see how it goes.

    • so how did it go?

      • +2

        Got a $100 gift card!

        • How long did it take you to get the card? I've been waiting for nearly 3 months now and not had any correspondence about it at all. Did you have to contact them about it?

          • +1

@Rodo: I just asked them and then it came

  • signed up, didn't mention the 100 gift card at the end of checkout, so hopefully it worked >_<

    • Any news? I signed up later, still waiting.

  • Signed up online nearly two weeks ago, and they just texted me today they need some further information and asked me to call them

Called them, turned out they just needed my MIRN number, but then he went through the whole process again (T&C and promoting me to also sign up for electricity, mobile and internet) for close to half an hour 🙃

  • Seems like this offer is extended to SA properties now? I just clicked through and entered my Adelaide Address and still showed the $100 Gift Card + $150 Credit on first electricity bill.

  • Checking the link now for NSW, I'm seeing $150 credit for Electricity.

Sign up to AGL energy for a bonus Prepaid Digital Mastercard up to $100
Plus, get a $150 credit for electricity on your first bill when you join AGL electricity. Credit offer for new and moving residential customers in NSW. See full conditions.

  • Is this link taken down? I'm a returning AGL customer. Unable to sign up for Electricity/

    • I just clicked on the link now and see

Enjoy a $150 sign-up credit when you join AGL electricity
Get $150 for electricity on your first bill with our Westpac energy offer. Credit offer for new and moving NSW residential customers. Plus, receive a bonus Prepaid Digital Mastercard worth up to $100¹.

      • Did you sign up? Mine is showing "Check address" always.
Edit: Working in incognito mode :)

      • No mention of the prepaid digital MasterCard when I clicked on it.

        • Looks like it's gone now… Was there 2 days ago when I looked.
Gone from the Westpac app too (was visible before)

  • Just received an email

Congratulations, your claim has been approved!

    Thanks for choosing AGL
    Hi ,
You’re now an AGL energy customer. To redeem your Prepaid Digital Mastercard(s) to the value of $100, you must remain on the AGL Electricity plan for a minimum of 30 days*.
To redeem your Prepaid Digital Mastercard, you must:
Click on the link we will send you in the coming weeks and simply choose your preferred mobile number for delivery and we will organise the rest!

    • Are you receive your Prepaid Digital Mastercard?

      • Yes on 24/4.

    • Do I have to have an account with westpac? I'm only with com bank at the moment

    • if you remember can you please confirm if you logged in from your westpac offers page in the app and also if your cart had any of these details while signing up for the AGL plan ?

      • I didn't sign up via Westpac.
I only incidentally have an account

  • The sign up button doesn't seem to work for me…

  • I didn’t see the prepaid card offer being mentioned and there was nowhere to put in the promo code. What have I done wrong?

  • I think they have withdrawn this offer early

  • This appears to be a scam. I've been emailing them for about a month to and fro, TLDR: email received 1 month ago, form filled immediately, but no SMS received with gift card to-date.

Just excuses, replies take about 3 to 4 days.

    Lodging a EWOV case.

    • In my case, It took a few weeks to receive a SMS (with instructions to redeem a gift card). I had been chasing them back and forth.

Current offer: You get $200 sign up for electricity + $100 Digital Mastercard

  • I wasn't able to sign up as the site wasn't going past the second page so I gave up. Today I got an email from AGL Saying the following:

    Hi there,
    Left something in your cart?

Switching to AGL is simple. Finish signing up online, and we’ll let your current provider know you’re leaving.

Plus, complete your sign up online in the next 48 hours and remain on your chosen plan for 30 days and you'll be eligible to get a $40 Digital Prepaid Mastercard®*. If you’ve already signed up, please disregard this email.

Does this meail I will get $200 credit + $100 Digital Card + $40 Digital card?

  • Does this apply to gas only? Or do I have to switch both electricity and gas to get this offer?

  • This is getting ridiculous for me now. I still haven't received the SMS from them after more than a month of clicking the link in the email

Have been emailing them multiple times to chase up, and funny enough, they don't respond to my emails unless I mention EWON in my emails

I guess I'll just raise a formal complaint to EWON then

    • Did you ever get a resolution? I've been chasing them up since 03/06/24 and nothing so far. They keep escalating to other people who just ask for all the same details each time.

      • I emailed them telling them if I don't get it by X days, I'll raise a complaint to EWON

I emailed them on Saturday and got the gift card on Tuesday morning

    • I'm in the same situation. I've been following up multiple times since June 30 for my prepaid Mastercard and was just told to wait another two business days. It's really frustrating. I haven't received my first bill yet, and I'm planning to switch from AGL. Do you know if I'll still get the $200 credit on my final bill?

I'm moving to Momentum Energy, which offers a $200 welcome credit. Momentum said the credit will be applied to my first bill but not the final one. So, I need to stay with them until my first bill is issued to get the $200 credit.

      • Same situation here too. I've written countless emails to follow this up, and was told this had been 'escalated' over 3 weeks ago.
They are no longer responding to my follow up emails.
This is disgraceful behaviour from such a large company. It also blackens Westpac's credibility for being associated with this offer.
I'm in the process of raising a formal complaint with EWON. Did anyone have any success from this course of action?

Sorry, OP. I just negged the post hoping that it would trigger people to take note of the comments before signing up with AGL.

  • Anybody had luck in getting the claim email (Not the actual GC) , been waiting for a month now . Raised a complaint and they initially said 2 business days and now are saying 15 business days . Not hopeful that I will have something after this. Customer care is next to useless.

  • +1

I signed up over the phone for the Westpac deal in mid June in SA (not a westpac customer!) After 30 days signed up I got on online chat and they said it would come “soon” (I was keen to get churning again as burned through the $200 welcome credit in that 30 days) many emails and then I emailed the complaints department. They called me back
And said they would action it (had to be cleared by the “gift card department” first). 3 calls to the complaints line and they finally sent Digital Credit card link by sms. This was the number they gave me eventually to follow up 1800 775 329. Good luck people, persistence will get you there.

Finally got the card next day after threatening them that I will go to EWON.Signed up online in july first week , waited till August first week and started follow up as I never received an sms/email regarding the plan etc I signed up for. Called 131245 them and asked them to confirm if I really signed up for Westpac plan, told them the that I didn't receive the email to redeem , they initially denied to transfer to complaints team and upon insisting got transfer to Complaints team as mentioned by other ozbargainer's I got transferred. They raised complaint to the giftcards team and said someone will reach out in 48 buss hours. After 96 buss hours called them again and was told to wait for 2 weeks as they need to go email by email to confirm that they sent the email. Didn't hear anything until 2 weeks. I sent an email to [email protected] explaining that I was following up for more than 3 weeks and mentioned will formally complain to EWOQ and got the steps to redeem card next day. As mentioned by other members its painful to deal specially two level of call centre teams to raise a complaint (third level) and repeating again and again. Seems you have to call them to get the complaint raised as just emails wouldn't work.

  • Its been over one month and haven't received the $100 MasterCard. How to dispute or get it fast?

    • Same boat, I am chasing the card now ,signed up 3 months ago

    • I called up (third time) to follow up just now as per many others. The agents from first 2 calls basically kept saying "followed up, need to wait bit longer"

On my third call, i mentioned im about to lodge a complaint with EWON (I dont know if this had any impact) . She went and spoke to a few people and i believe she came to the same conclusion that there wasnt anythign she could do apart from re-escalate this but she appreciated the situation I was in (ie she agreed it was ridiculous that i've waited 3 months and called it an embarassment). She then offered me a $100 credit off my electricity bill which I was happy with. I don't know if that closes the dispute (ie now they've applied $100 credit, will they not send me a GC?). In any case, i might send a final follow up email and if i dont get it, then i dont get it (since they've applied a $100 credit to my statement …. time to church to the next provider i suppose!)

    • Okay so I emailed the email address above ([email protected]) and someone responded pretty quick . Within 48 hours I received my giftcard so i'd suggest emailing that if you havent already.

      • Admin support is closed and this mailbox is no longer monitored.

For all enquiries including flybys incentives and accounts enquiries, please visit https://www.agl.com.au/help-support; or call 131 245 to speak to an energy expert.

  • Followed up for my card yesterday, they took my number, said they have a team looking after this as it has been an issue. I'm not expecting much to happen before Christmas now.
