Er… No? I just got emailed this.

    • +3

Wow you neg him just cause you think he took it from your comment? That's lame.

      • -7

I neg him because it was a no deal. Got a better one with double screen size for 20 dollar.

EDIT: As pointed by mskeggs below

And you neg me for negging him for no deal? That's lame.

        • Just out of curiosity what is this infamous comment?

        • +2

Maybe what I said was lame as well, but you could've mentioned why the neg to begin with.

  • Small world lol…

  • +11

Bleh! The bargain is keep the $29 and not waste it on this!!!

  • +2

They have lots of Nintendo games in the screen shot. I can't see them actually loading these things with Nintendo ROMs, not if they want to avoid court anyway.

  • +2

"You can download 1,000s of games from the internet and load them on your device easily using a PC and the supplied USB cable." - are the legal dept asleep today? Not to mention they are using nintendo/neo geo/sony/EA trademarks in the screenshot.

Having said that, I still kind of want one. Any idea if it suffers from slowdown on SFC/SNES titles?

  • +1

Don't waste your money on this, except you're going to give it to a kid under 7 and never play computer games or tablet before.

  • +3

If you're comparing this to a modern day games console….

This is a 'retro' game emulator/player.

  • +5

Bah, you call that a portable gaming device? This is much cooler:

    $65
Dpad, Thumbstick, ABXY and shoulder buttons
    Runs Android 4.0
    HDMI output
Preinstalled game emulation software for MAME, CPSX, Neo-Geo, NES and Nintendo GameBoy (GBA advance)
    Wifi link multiplayer support
Plays Android games, N64 games and PSX games
    2500mah battery

and is a tablet that browses the internet, plays Youtube?. Go figure.

And if you want more performance there is a high resolution and Mali-400 equipped version:

    • It's also more than double the price so not really comparable. If I wanted to splash the cash, I would pick up a dingoo a320/a330.

    • +1

      wow that thing looks sweet.

  • +3

    Form Factor Taco
    Heck yeah

  • Looks just like a PSP, has Crash Bandicoot advertised on the screen. Is this a joint venture between Kogan and Sony? I thought the PSP/Vita could play PS1 classics, so seems kind of redundant for Sony.

    • crash bandicoot is no longer owned by sony

this has nothing to do with sony, crash bandicoot, or even kogan (except for the fact they are selling it)

    • -6

It's an emulator, and its painfully obvious. Are you a Sony Rep who has come here prior to a law suit being raised so Sony can say "LOOK! SOMEONE THOUGHT IT WAS A SONY PRODUCT!"

  • this is knock off from the famous dingoo handheld..

  • +2

a lot of technical mumbo jumbo…for junk

    • +2

Its not technical mumbo jumbo, it is explaining exactly what it can do. Anyone who would consider purchasing a handheld emulator would want to know these things.

Don't neg something just because you don't understand it.

      • +3

i negged it because its glorified junk

        • +3

What would you suggest for someone who likes a physical keypad, and wants to emulate SNES games for below $30 then?

        • -1

          Why is it junk?

        • -1

im not julius sumner miller… just saying

        • I'm not saying this is terrible, but I'd rather spend the money on a gamepad for a smartphone. Miles better screen, sound (and if you're taking your phone everywhere anyway about as portable)

If you don't have a smartphone or for a young kid this is alright

  • +1

If you want to run MAME or other emulators it looks OK. There is also a $50 version with bigger screen and camera:
    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/portable-video-game-media-player…

I'll get one of the cheap ones for a xmas present for my brother in-law.

    • +2

feel sorry for your brother in law

      • He likes old games from when he was a teenager. Is there a better emulator platform for under $30?

        • you cant install an emulator on a smartphone or old psp?

        • +3

I can, because I have a smart phone. A second hand PSP is $50 on ebay.
I suppose I could get him to convince his wife to jailbreak her iphone, and borrow it from her whenever he wants to play double dragon. Or I could just get him a $30 handheld.

      • haha

  • I'd rather spend $29 on a bluetooth joypad for my Android device.

I've never understood why the descriptions for items like this always go into so much detail for Nintendo systems—even going so far as to list the alternate names for the same console i.e. "SNES/SFC")—but for everything else it's just "SEGA", "NEOGEO", "ATARI", etc.

  • +2

    The wording is dubious:

NES/FC – Play games like Super Marios Bros. and Metroid
SNES/SFC – Play games like Zelda and Final Fantasy
SEGA – Play games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Earthworm Jim
GBA – Play games like Pokémon and Fire Emblem

So play games "like"!! Sonic, Pokemon etc, not play Sonic & Pokemon

  • +2

i bought this 4 bucks as i had the 25 voucher from Kogan for not delivering the iphone on launch date.

  • Get a Caanoo. Much better for emulation.

  • Almost bought this but then thought, will never play these games, I remember the 56K days we would download ROMS, 100's, yet I never played any for more than 5 minutes

  • Good if you love your retro games & want a separate unit (provided it has decent emu support) to carry around without draining your smartphone battery. Gaming on a budget.

  • Yeah the price is awesome, but it's more likely to end up unused in a drawer.
