    Thanks, Prison Mike

  • Fuarrkkk all these deals man

  • Is this a good upgrade coming from a delonghi dedica arte?

    • My 2c is that the grinder mechanism seems flimsy and the portafilter is aluminium

The rest is up to what you want in your machine

      • Where does it say that the portafilter is aluminium? They're usually chrome brass, and the group head is generally fully chrome brass too unlike some of the breville ones that have a plastic insert.

        • I looked when they first came out

          • @Paudius: Don't think you'd find aluminium porta filters, they will damage too easily after every hit on the knock box.

In the past I've owned theb EM6900, 7000 and after 5 years i upgraded to the 7100. They have been absolute work horses compared to my brothers Brevilles.

            • @alwayslooking: My dad used to own an EM6910, the 7000/7100 is different to the sunbeam's they've released recently.

When you get a chance check them out, compare them for feature sets and material quality and you'll find the Sunbeam's no longer stack up as they used to

They used to buy from these guys and slap a plaque on them - https://www.wpm.hk/collections/espresso-machine Now they've branched off and manufacture a different range, which has come down in both quality and materials

I think so. Ive owned 3 Sunbeams and they dont miss a beat! Dual thermoblock so you can pour a shot and steam milk at the same time.

  • Cheaper than the Breville Dual Boiler and has a built in coffee grinder. If this deal was around when my last el cheapo was around I probably would have picked it up with no regrets. Looks like a decent machine at this price

  • Have been holding off for the Dual Boiler but the prices have jumped considerably. Thinking of getting this deal. Can I please get comment on the major differences with the dual boiler. I understand the grinder is built in and a seperate grinder is better.
    Thanks

    • Breville dual boiler has 2 boiler, this one has 2 thermoblock, so it heat as you go. This one for that price inc grinder is great value.

  • Would people recommend this one or this:
    https://www.myer.com.au/p/delonghi-la-specialista-arte-manua…

    • Definitely the Sunbeam over any Delonghi.

  • This Sunbeam

  • This is a great machine. I bought one back in October for $675 (less $200 StoreCash) from TGG.
It heats up quickly, the built in grinder is quite decent and overall it makes a good coffee.
The included tamper is all you really need to pour a decent shot, but I was given a Normcore distributor which adds a bit more consistency without too much extra fuss.

My only real knock against it is the aluminium portafilter, it just doesn't keep any heat.
If anyone has this machine and has a recommendation for a better portafilter that is compatible please let me know.

    • Hows the dosing performance? Any overdose or underdose?

      • I'm a bit of a casual, but seems to be fine with the factory settings.
The grinder has preset single and double shot doses, I use the double and don't have any complaints.
You can change what these preset amounts are, and you can also manually grind by holding down on the portafilter when it's in the grinder.

Same for pouring the shot. There's presets for single and double shots, as well as a manual button which allows more flexibility.
I use the double shot most of the time. If I've done a poor job of tamping the shot I run the double shot followed by the manual shot for 10 seconds or so.

  • Bummer. Was poised to buy but the perks deal expired while I was watching reviews.

  • The aluminium portafilter has been mentioned twice now.

  • This item has since expired, and the latest price is $749 at JBHFi.
