It's the movie only version, no extras, other version is here

Man, on the one hand I really want those extras, on the other hand, I'm phenomenally stingy…

      • +2

Me too, guess you have to toss up whether you'd actually find the time to watch the extras too. I have to be fully in love with a movie to watch the extras and featurettes.

        • +3

I personally buy movies for the extras. Some of the documentaries have been great, obviously the LOTR extended cuts, the Batman Anthology documentaries where the director of Batman and Robin apologises for making the movie, the Alien 3 documentary where the crew talks about the issues which plagued the film.

But if it's one of those fluffy, "OMG this director is so great, so is this actor, everyone is so great la la la" it's complete crap.

Anyways the Superman series is a good collection but I prefer the version with the extras. Superman 1 is a classic. Superman 2 is ok. Superman 3 is a goofball comedy. Superman 4 is just crap. Superman Returns, I actually love that movie, but people are pretty divided on the love/hate front on it.

    • Anyone know if the extra discs are on Bluray or DVD?

      • From the first review I read.

All the extra features in the DVD collection have been transferred to the Blu Ray version

        • +2

That's not really what he asked. He wants to know if the extra features are included on a Blu-Ray disc or DVD disc.

I honestly did not think there would be anyone who would be confused by my post.
Seemed pretty straight forward to me so I quoted it.
Guess I was wrong, my bad.

        • +1

Haha because you quoted something that didn't answer the question!
          - Bluray sets often have a DVD with the extras on it.
          - Your quote just tells us that the special features that are in the DVD set, are also in the bluray set.
          - vlahka has properly answer the question below.

          So yes - your bad.

      • +2

Taken from reviews of the set

        8-Disc Box Set
        7 BD-50 Dual-Layer Discs / 1 BD-25 Single-Layer Disc
        Region Free

So yeah, luckily no DVDs in the set.

        • awesome.. now I just need to justify buying it for pretty much Superman III and IV.. I think the extras is what's pushing me to it though. Always wanted to watch the serial.

    • Having a read of this thread (http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=165619 - see the last couple of pages), the version linked to in this bargain won't have the two versions of superman 1 and superman 2 - if you want those alternate versions you need to get the slightly more expensive version linked to above by darthhasbro.

Happy to be corrected otherwise though.

      • The 8 disk set has two versions of Superman 1 and Superman 2 (Richard Donner cut) that wouldn't be in the 5 disk set.

The 8 disk set has no second disk for Superman 3 or 4, but these disks have all the Superman cartoons from the 1940's plus at least one old black and white Superman movie from the 50s. I have no idea whether the 5 disk version would have these, but it's possible.

The 8 disk set also has a second bonus feature disk for Superman Returns that it seems wouldn't be in the 5 disk set.

  • This version will have 8 disks including a 4 disk special release of Superman I with both the 1978 release and 2000 expanded edition (don't know how that relates to the longer TV version

    • It's the 5-disc version. :(

  • Remember that there's a new superman comming out soon, and they have a plans for new trilogy, just wait for the entire thing completes, last ting I bought was fast and furious box set, and 5 came out.

    • +2

except that these 5 movies represent a complete series. The new Superman movie is a reboot not related to the old series. Much like the 90's Batman movies have no relation to the Batman Begins trilogy. So you can safely buy this as a 'set' and then when the new Superman movie(s) come out buy those as a 'set'. It's unlikely you'll see a combined set much like it's unlikely to see a set with the 90's and Begins Batmans together.

  • I WANT NEW SUPERMAN MOVIES!!!!!!!!
wtf…the last one made is like in 2005 with that real tall skinny good looking dude.

There are so many other things to film about for Superman and what is taking so long?
my son is probably going to be 20 when they finish making the next one!! (he is 2 by the way and watches it every week and visit Movieworld to see him)

    • Good news pal, first teaser for Man of Steel is out, and it looks promising.

The comic con exclusive trailer has more, but it's not supposed to be "public" yet, so the quality isn't great, but I think you'll want to see it.

  • Must have been ozbargained since the checkout was timing out and doing silly things for me but got there through 1-click ordering. It's a bargain at this price alright since the US version is USD $77 on the Amazon US store. I suggest you get your order in straight away for this bargain.

  • Looks like it's currently sold out as it's now showing "Usually dispatched within 1 to 3 weeks." instead of the "In Stock" that i was earlier. Ozbargained!!!.

    • I don't think 295 clicks from this site Ozbargained Amazon.

      • +1

Then again there was not an unlimited stock. A few hundred sales could have easily helped to exhaust the current stock. You often see things like "only 15 left in stock" on Amazon.

  • Superman Complete Collection Blu-ray is back in stock and it's still £12.75 which is a ripper deal.

  • The link is not to the pictured product. Kinda misleading.
