Was shopping around for an ultrasonic cleaner and it's so hard to tell which ones are dodgy or not but came across this one which seems a pretty good price, and has a good Amazon review rating (4.3 Stars with 2,126 ratings).

Selling for $54.99 but a $30 coupon appears for a net price of $24.99.

Note: The coupon didn't appear for me everytime I loaded the page, I have already purchased one with the coupon but only appears now in private browsing mode.

I have no idea if this one is any good - I'll let y'all know how I get on.

    I don’t have any jewellery

    Purchased one anyway

    Thanks OP

good for sunglasses/glasses and electric toothbrush heads too

      • -2

I bought similiar one many years ago, be careful with sunglasses don't clean for it too long, it will damage the colour on the glass.

        • +1

Haven't had any issue with my glasses or sunglasses and been cleaning them for past 2-3 years using one.

I use a drop of dishwashing detergent to get rid of the oil

Do your sunglasses have a type of coating/plating on the lens?

          • -3

@bdl: Just normal sunglasses coating on glass len, after the first clean seems good, so I did it second time immediately after the first clean but this time the bottom of the coating started to peel off.

I shouldn't do it immediately after the first clean.

            • +1

@superforever: Why did you do it twice?

              • @Munki:

Why did you do it twice?

Not sure, many many years ago, may be just testing new stuff XD

            • @superforever: Coating of lens or frame? I usually do two "cycles" when cleaning my sun/glasses and have no problems with coating.

          • @bdl: Sounds like it just doesn't work at all lmao

            • @OfTheOverflow:

Sounds like it just doesn't work at all lmao

It did clean OK, just don't set it to clean too long.

            • @OfTheOverflow: Well it's doing a great job cleaning @superforever's sunglasses - so powerful it takes off the coating :D

        • +2

Can confirm - put an old pair of polarized tinted sunnies in mine this morning and it bubbled off the tinting/polarisation.
No biggie but good to know.
Also I should have just popped out the lenses to be safe.

      • Thanks. Just got one purely in the hope it's useful for toothbrush heads. Here's hoping it will eventually pay for itself in not needing to junk the heads so soon.

        • Mine has arrived and I can report it does a great job at removing the black mould/biofilm from the insides of electric toothbrush heads. At this price, for a family, worth it I feel.

          • +1

@Horacio: Got an Aldi one maybe 5 years ago and its main duty is cleaning toothbrush heads.

Does a decent job, not everything comes out but definitely loosens it. Tap em out after and you'll probably find more stuff comes out.

      • +1

I have been tempted to use mine to clean glasses / sunglasses but read somewhere that if they have a coating like the anti glare specsavers does and also polarising on sunglasses could be affected so I've been too scared to try.

        • +3

Same after what happened to my Rayban

    • I have jewels and I’m not putting them in this machine unless you buy me drinks first

  • +1

I'll buy. My Milanese loop Apple Watch bands get filthy after a few years. Spend hours scrubbing at them.

    • Good idea. I have Apple Link Bracelet

  • +1

It depends on what you plan to do with it of course. But this one is very small and not powerful at all. It may not do much. I like this one, according to many reviews it does work. The lowest I have seen it at was $80 https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C2V41Z7Y/?coliid=I2S24G26192Q…

    • +2

Oh why stop there, may as well buy the Mega Tank https://kleentek.com.au/product/tm-250-mega-tank/

      • +1

Bicycle cassette isn't that big, but it just fits in a 2L tank. All of the capacities are greatly exagerrated, when it says 2L realisticlly it is about 1L working volume. And 1L (or even 2L( of volume is not a lot.
Further to that, it needs some power to do something. Otherwise it just makes noise and is as good as just to put the item in a bucket.

        • +1

What about the guy below whose dad was so impressed with it that he bought two more? And I think most of us plan on putting jewellery, watch bands, and glasses in it, not our cycling mix tapes.

          • @AustriaBargain: My pockets are as tight as anyone else's, I have to admit, I have not tried those tiny ones, but I watched some reviews online where people suggested that it needs some volume and some power to work. A bit like homeopathy - people buy and use the pills and swear by them… But does it really work? Only in a sense any placebo works. I just don't want people to pay twice that's all.

            • @Musiclover: If I put my Milanese loop in it and the water turns black and I can see through all the holes in the loop, then it probably works. I'll report back if I remember. Though I did just spend hours cleaning my older loop under the steam wand on my coffee machine so it's probably not going to turn black. But there is a section of my genuine Apple Loop where I can't see through the holes so that'll be a good test.

          • @AustriaBargain: I put in some MP3s and they turned to flacs

      • +1

Wondering if it can replace my shower🤔

    • If this review is kosher then it's big enough IMHO

"You can clean more than just jewelry with it also. It even came with a watch stand. I’ve already cleaned my glasses"

      (Coupon worked, thanks OP)

    • Nice it can clean your tools too

    • Just a warning not to put your fingers in them. It also works on cartilage.

  • +1

As someone who wears glasses every day, my ultrasonic cleaner is amazing for cleaning my glasses and getting into those nooks and crannies to dislodge oil and gunk!

    • +3

Do tell moar! What brand ultrasonic cleaner do you use?

      • +1

Use a drop of dish detergent

        • A drop is not enough, theres too much water.

I just use my fingers and smear a drop of detergent on the 4 sides of the lens and rinse off, easy. The better the coating the easier clean.

          • @skillet: drop works for me, the oil and crap separates from the ultrasonic clean and floats to top where the dishwashing detergent breaks it down

maybe i'm using super powerful ultra max ++ dish detergent lol

    • +3

Bought the ALDI one a few weeks ago and agree about the glasses. Amazing difference

      • the aldi has a high power transducer , great for its size.

    • +2

I did that as well, just a small heads up that the coating on my glasses did start to peel/flake off from the bottom

    • Which one did you buy to clean glasses.

  • Thanx Op. looks like a cheap printer

  • -7

For this price I would assume it’s not “ultrasonic” but it just has a cheaper motor inside making water to vibrate only.

  • Ordered for my retainers hopefully works well enough for that, thanks OP.

    • +1

Same logic on my end! Fingers crossed!

    • I ordered and just started using one for mine $20 ish from Temu. I can’t tell if it works or not but looks like it does.

      • Try the test they suggest. Drop in some aluminium foil and see if it disintegrates it. I imagine if its just a vibrating motor instead of a transducer it wont have any effect on it.

only concern is with the product dying, people are saying warranty claim is difficult, no business information/warranty card.. no idea where to return apparently.. something to be mindful of

    • +5

      That's Amazon's problem as they're the retailer.

      • -4

Technically they’re not. If you look at the listing it’s actually sold by Life Basis not Amazon. So you would have to follow warranty with them.

        • +4

I've bought many things from Amazon that's sold by a 3rd party seller but fulfilled by Amazon and never had issues claiming warranty direct from amazon. Amazon just get you to return the item and refund you the costs. It's as simple as that

    • +1

who cares, just skip breakfast and you earn the money back. People always focus on what happens if shit breaks, I say use it now and worry later when it breaks

      • Woah, i can get paid $25 to skip breakfast!?

  • May be need to be careful when using metal plated items

PLEASE DON'T put plated items into the tank.

    • +1

      Is that a challenge??

    • +1

Can confirm. I had a fountain pen nib cleaned once that I suspected was only gold plated and it came out as bright, shiny stainless steel. Ink flowed beautifully through it afterwards, though.

      • +2

guess I shouldn't put my Lamy 2000 nib in one?

        • Knobs, nibs all open for testing!

      • This is why you should only buy solid gold pens.

        • Nah, they're rubbish. Solid glass pens are far better! Solid gold nibs, however, are definitely an option, especially when they're a buttery-smooth broad width.

  • +1

I'll give it a shot. There are a few youtube reviews of an identical looking lifebasis with a different model number (CDS-100 instead of CSB-113), and it seems to do a good job for $25.

  • These are also great if you own a resin 3D printer.
Far more effective than a conventional wash and cure!

  • +1

This a good size to clean a bike chain?

    • +1

no, the grease will not come off adequately, and it'll wreck the machine.

    • +1

      Dishwasher for the bike chain.
      Thank me afterwards.

    • You need commercial ultrasonic cleaner for auto garage workshop.

  • +2

Bought this for my mum June last year. She has only been happy with it and uses it to clean her glasses regularly.

  • 👍

  • Thanks. Needed one for watch bracelets so this should hopefully do the job

  • I use this to clean my iPhone and smart watch

    • +2

      Wouldn’t it destroy electronics?

      • +10

Nah - water and electronics go together like milk and vinegar

        • +1

          🤣

  • How does it do with golf balls

    • +3

      2 under par.

  • Have been circling one of these but haven’t wanted to pay full price - sold!

    • Have been circling one of these

      did you get dizzy?

  • +1

How do it compare to the Vevor cleaners?

    • +2

Well Vevor are proper ones. Plus you can put some nasty cleaning agents in the Vevor ones because they're not cheap plastic.

  • bought one of these for my wife about 2 weeks ago… was on sale then but wow good price and it does actually seem to work

    • +2

Your wife must be tiny! Did she come out nice and clean?

  • +3

How much for a larger one for lazy people, or those that realise you can't really wash in a bath?

  • -1

These work excellent, we regularly clean our favourite piece of jewellery in it, maybe a little too good, it weakened the bond on the glue for the pink heart shaped gem on it and it fell off during an onlyfans shoot.

It also polished the metal so well the thing just slipped out and fell on the floor.

A+ would clean with it again.

  • Ordered, thanks op

  • Noob here. Will this clean, gently, all kinds of metal? I have a few necklaces that are dirty, one is silver, most of rest are I think stainless steel…

  • -3

    I don’t have any jewellery

    Purchased one anyway

    Thanks OP

  • +1

What cleaner would everyone be using? Do we need a different type depending what we are washing?

I'm going to use it for retainer, watches, rings, and glasses

    • Tap water is fine, add a drop of dishwashing liquid if you like. You can also use demineralised water, but it’s unnecessary and gets costly over time.

  • Cheers OP. Grabbed one for the wife's rings / earrings

  • Is this safe for luxury watches?
