Now you can cancel your WSJ subscription from WSJ website rather call customer service in US previously.
When I came cross the cancellation page, it promoted free for two months or A$10.42 for 6 months to keep me.
So I choose A$10.42 for 6 months, effectively worths $ 30 dollars.
The Wall Street Journal Subscriber Retention Offer: Free for Two Months or A$10.42 Per Month for 6 Months (Usually $15.27/M)

A digital version of the print edition of the WSJ is free (along with lots of other newspapers and magazines) if your library has access to PressReader. All NSW residents have access through the State Library: https://eresources.sl.nsw.gov.au/pressreader
A digital version of the print edition sounds interesting.
But honestly. You have to pay me to read A digital version of the print edition of any newspaper these days.
The reason that A digital version of the print edition is free is because almost no one wants to read this type of awkward version, unless perple are doing research for historically archived document (newspaper). This is what it looks like in the browser (you can click on individual articles to zoom in or reformat as plaintext): https://i.imgur.com/u2MOc7i.png
There are also iOS (iPad)/Android apps available. For newspapers, I'd probably agree with you in preferring the website version. But for magazines I much prefer the print version facsimile.
If anyone in Victoria with ConnectedLibraries library card can read WSJ free though PressReader like @TurkeyBargain mentioned for NSW.
fyi, there's actually a pretty easy way to get around all news paywalls
What about the discerning surfers who are wise enough to steer clear of Chrome?
FYI - Xmas/NY annual sale offers 6 months free or one year for $20.
