This is good value. To buy these items off Aliexpress or similar platforms would cost about $10-30 more and probably worse quality. Although I'd have to skip this one because there's no 54mm option and it's not self levelling.

    This is very good value.

    True Ozbargain…

3D print for $2 (use a mug for milk).

    Or

    Swisse vitamin container (54mm tamp)
Ice cream bucket / Biscuit tin/ your hand as a knock box.

    • +1

      Even more true OzB…

Drink water from the tap out of your hands.

      • +6

Then you'd need to dry your hands - uses either a paper towel or you need to wash a hand towel. Too expensive.
Just stick your head under the tap and drink from the running stream of water directly.

        • +4

          Who can afford water?

          • @jackspratt: Place an old bucket under the gutter drain and drink and repeat, dont bother washing and let nature do its job.

            • @Rilakkujay: ^this. Raw green water is good for you! Just drink directly from any creek, puddle or gutter.

    • Laughing as my knock box is an ice cream container…

      • Honestly interested, how? Doesn't the ice cream container fly around? what do you knock it on?

        • It's a plastic Golden North Sorbet container. So I hold the container with one hand and knock the portafilter on top with the other. Does the job for me.
Previously I knocked it on my plastic bucket bin… Until I got a proper bin.

    • True OzBargain OzFrugal…

      Fixed.

Some ALDI's still have the Delonghi Dedica coffee machine on clearance for $99 too! These machines use a 51mm tamper.

    • Is it in store only? Any way to see which locations still have them?

  • +1

good price and harder to find a 58mm tamper. Even cobbling these items together from aliexpress would be twice as much.

    • +1

Pretty sure 58mm is like the industry standard size lol

      • there's an industry standard?
but seriously there are tamps every single mm from 50mm and some are fractional so don't ask the industry what the standard is!

    Obviously anti Breville…..

    • They're targeting Breville Oracle users.

      • I know three oracle owner and no one buy temper…..

        • Oracle is self tamping..

Breville dual boiler is 58mm, as is the Sunbeam cafe series machines.

          • @tunzafun001:

            Oracle is self tamping..

Haha I was waiting for pizzaguy to figure it out!!

BDB yes but too big for and too slow.

Sunbeam quality is really up and down.

If I am in the market for one now (which I am not), I would wait for discounted EVO or BB+ which both unlikely to go cheap. That is why my wife warns me all the time to look after our BB+…..

  • Great price! Cries in Lelit 😭

i highly recommend you get a calibrated tamper for a perfect tamp every time.

a bigger knock box would be nice, but you will change this out a lot. i actually just knock straight into my bin so i don't have to do the double the work of knocking into knock box, then dumb in trash in a few days.

froth cup - you usually get this size with your machine already, but at that point you should also just buy a bigger one. i guess the only time you need 2 is if you really don't want to mix regular milk and alternative (almond, soy, oat, etc…) milk in the same cup.

thermometer is nice, but the old fashion way (touch the side and if you can't hold it because its too hot, then you're ready) works just fine.

i just don't see the need for this set really, your machine should have already came with this stuff.

i would say a distributor would be a good addition. a vacuum sealed storage for whole beans would also be a great addition.

    • My trusty Bogav Sniper (tamper) for BDB has now been relegated to the cupboard - anyone old enough to remember these? lol

I got one of these (distributor/tamper) recently instead, really happy with the quality and once dialed in has made my shots super consistent each day - highly recommended instead of the Aldi kit.

I wouldn't opt for this deal to be honest, unless you aren't fussed about the quality of your pulls.
I'd rather a calibrated tamper. Temu offers these for about $15 each and their quality is pretty good.
    Tamping mat is useless.
Jug meh - I drink black.
Thermometer - might be useful but you can just gauge the temp with your hands if you need milk in your coffee.
Knockbox - for the size they offer, I'd rather knock straight into the bin. The hassle of continuously emptying and cleaning it outweighs the perceived convenience of having that.

Summary - for espresso drinkers, a temu $15 calibrated tamper is all you need instead of this pack.
For milk drinkers, you'll need a larger milk jug. I can't justify the extra $15 for the rest of the equipment.

What you need: calibrated tamper +/- distributor. That's it.

What you need: calibrated tamper +/- distributor. That's it.

Like you stressed multiple time - it's what YOU need :)

The jug size seems perfect for 1-2 people, and if somebody already froths milk, the thermometer might be useful to beginners who - as you pointed out - care about quality, so probably consistency as well. It's a cheap set, but might be useful and convenient to some.

      • Sure, that's my general advice actually. If you want a milk jug, get it elsewhere.
If we return to the purpose of OzB, which is to share deals of high value, this is not one. The constituents individually are not worth the total cost.

  • Decent deal if you're missing items that are unreasonably costly to source.

But yes, I get annoyed with the knock box that I've got (too small - one of my kids got the BIG Breville one from our old house and won't give it back) and this one looks no better.

Like others have said, it is easy enough to tell if your milk is hot enough using the 'ouch' test! The mat is nice to contain errant grounds - I use a small, spare wood board. It works.

    • -1

Tell you kid to give it back or you will "knock" him out.

      • Too big! And we might need his support in our dotage…

Mayve I'll just have to save up for a larger one - but of course, it'll cost more that the whole Aldi kit!

  • Wouldn’t most people have this stuff if they already have a machine? Seems like a good price, regardless

    • Tamp mat, knock box and milk jug thermometer probably not, whether you actually need them or could get better elsewhere (I personally don't like the Aldi tamp mat) is debatable.

    • You'd be surprised what's missing as included in some coffee machines.

      Or it's included but rubbish.

  • +1

Really good value. Most places sell these individually at that price.
