What's a Good Price for MEL > PERTH Return?

I want to tick off Perth for my Aus domestic bucket list but the prices seems to be quite high.

I see a Qantas flight deal Mel > Perth for $279 which seems decent.

Is there a good price range that would be worth going for? I'm flexible on which months of the year / when to go.

    Or cut out Perth completely and fly direct to Busselton for a bit more, grab a hire car and see Busselton/Dunsborough/Yallingup/Margaret River

    This from someone born and bred in Perth

    Looks like Jetstar will get you there for around $470 $560-ish with baggage

    Sure its return?, If so grab it.

    According to Skyscanner the best return fares are generally much higher
