ACT peeps - hit up Dickson DMs

  • +7

Very low-end beers, $20 is about what the retail should be. $40 RRP is a joke.

    No stock anywhere

    • +1

      Yes there is.

      Prahran has 10+

      • +1

Yep still at Prahran just got some

      • What's a Prahran?

      • Fishermans Bend and Forest Hill have stock too.

    • Not true. I've just got some from Malvern.

  • Got some in VIC though was also a pop up for a craft set for $15 which was cancelled after I ordered as they didn’t actually have any.

  • Shit beers. Some are sold under 1 EUR overseas.

No cheap $40 slab for me :(

If that's world class beer, I'm an Olympic gymnast.

    Sol, really?

    • +3

Hollandia is literally the cheapest case at BWS. I don't mind it but 'world class' give me a break

      • +1

Used to be known as Bavaria, despite it's Dutch origins. Rebranded so the ignorami stop thinking it's German.

It's OK for the price given it's 4.7%, but I prefer to pay a dollar or two more and get VB 500ml cans, they're 4.9%.

        • Sol is Dutch, so who knows

          • @Stewardo: No, it's definitely Mexican and brewed in Mexico for that market, but the parent company is Heineken, who brew it offshore for export ie what we get. I prefer Sol to Corona…used to get 3x tallies for $11 from my local BWS as it was overlooked in favour of Corona by most customers.

            • @Ham Dragon: The brand name and original brewery definitely is Mexican. But if Heineken owns it and makes it in the Netherlands what part of it is Mexican? The graphics on the logo? It’s like saying MG is a British car company, or Arnotts Monte Carlo biscuits are Monegasque.

              • @Stewardo: That's like saying Guinness or Heineken are Australian beers because they're brewed locally. I agree the Sol we get is not authentic, but it's still a "Mexican beer" per se.

      • +2

Was good value when under $30 for a slab of 330ml bottles. Bavaria is a different beer, still around. Same brewer iirc.

        • Yeah my recycle bin used to be full of the stuff 5-6 years ago

Sol and John Boston? trash tier

  • Monsuta is a nice drop, prefer it to Yebisu. Not sure about some of the others

  • Thanks, bought 2 in Warrnambool.

  • +5

HAHAHAHA World Class and it has John Boston in it. That is literally Woolies' home brand, designed as a rip-off of James Squire. Don't buy this. It's cheap and often extremely average stuff sold at normal price.

    • +1

1000% never ever buy John Boston

    • Agree to disagree.

Most of the John Boston Ale's receive a 3+ rating on Untapped. Stone and Wood Pacific Ale is only 3.6

Do have consistency issues. My Pale Ale Carton in 2021 was amazing. Can buy this stuff at $27 a slab if you keep your eye out.

In Fairness, none of these beers are World Class… but what is World Class? Fosters (vom)

      • +1

A 3 on untappd is hardly something to write home about

        • +1

This is true… Sort of / all relative.

The highest rated Pale Ale is 3.8

To get to 4 and above…it's probably a stout.

Anyway, out of these the John Boston won't be the worst.

In what world is this world class?

    • The world of marketing.

    • They didn’t say high class, could just be beer sold around the world, that’s low class.

      • Presume that's a joke Stewardo? Or has World Class changed it's meaning overnight?

Just to add to the hyperbole/intentional misrepresentation they've also claimed that there are "12 of the finest beer brands from around the world " included. Iirc from years ago when I searched, Hollandia wasn't even sold in its country of origin, it was export (to very few countries) only. Just one example. That brand is so fine it doesn't even get mentioned on the brewer's website.

  • +1

Bought. Will drink the good ones and offer the bad ones to mates who are cheap and don’t buy rounds.

  • What makes a beer world class?

Isn't it just fermented sugar and barley?

    • +1

Isn't it just fermented sugar and barley?

      No.

Is there anything else we can help with or do you reckon you could manage a Google search

      • HAHA nice one.

  • Dan's must've had 1 case. lol. But, as mentioned by others, the beers in the pack are low end.

  • Oos

  • +1

BWS have it for $20 also. 5 packs left at Warner Drive

  • Oh spew, YUCK!
