353
FEB15FEB17

Original Coupon Deal

Cheapest it's been so far and at $1617 $1649 it seems like a pretty good price considering the recent sales of the 4080 was only $117 less than this. Also other cards on here with discount such as 4070 super for $970~ w/ eBay plus.

Edit: Didn't know about the $300 max discount so not as good value as the $1499 4080 but close.

Price has gone up? Best price I can see is 1649 with the FEB17 coupon.

    • Updated.

eBay Plus code 'FEB17' has a max discount of $300.

    • +1

My bad I don't have eBay plus so manually calculated it didn't know about the $300 cap, bit dissapointing

      • How long does the discount code last?

        • i'm guessing until end of Feb but they do the same promo every month

  • +7

Stop posting these, I'm gonna cave soon lol

    • +9

Don't do it (as I continue to post more)

      • Any MSI trio on special?

      • u damned wallet-tease! u silly little wallet teaser nnghh

    • Isn't this pricing similar to the original 4080 launch pricing? I.e. Not really that much of a deal?

    • +5

Don't do it man, it will be around $1500 soon.

    • +1

I caved… bought the PLE one. Can't wait any longer waited through the 30 series and halfway through the 40 series.

      • Weak…. :) …nah, enjoy the upgrade mate.

        • Thanks mate… saved for enough time. Was going to jump in during the 30 series.

Now the hard part… making it fit my case!!! My tape measure measurements say it can.

      • +1

Exactly you can never actually win, every 3 months a new deal will come up. Yeah it might drop to $1500 soon but if it's not within the next month or two is it really worth it? 4080 was $1500 with a game mid last year and people said HODL. Only has been seen at that price once since and without a game.

        • That was for Diablo 4 right?

        • My strategy has become buy a good prebuilt here, play all the games I want for a couple months as I only play triple A single player immersive type games as they come out, then sell for not much less before market changes too much. Wait for next deal and pay same price as I did for the PC before but now with upgraded components, rinse and repeat.

          • @lookingforadeal7: How long does it take to flip the PC?

            • @jlogic: Last one took me about a week or so but also put a monitor in I got for a good price and peripherals so probably helped with sale a bit. In total I lost about $150 the last time I did it. It leaves me without a PC for a while but I use that time to then actually go outside lol. I'll be a hermit for the months I use it because I get really immersed in games like Cyberpunk or Metro Exodus and that's all I'll do outside of work whilst I have a PC.

              • +2

@lookingforadeal7: Nice… sorta like a hibernation. Like renting the PC but cheaper.

                • @jlogic: Yeah that's how i see it, I need to look into GeForce now might be a better option for me but i've heard the Australian service isn't that great and the max package is a 3080. I also just dislike subscription services and never sign up for them out of principle. Hibernation is exactly what my friends and myself call it, i'll black out my room for those months too. It also kind of resets the enjoyment out of both gaming and my usual outside activities because i'll have missed it for so long it becomes a refreshing experience again.

    • 1000 USD RRP
      * 1.539 = 1539 AUD
      + GST = 1692 AUD

its almost at a GOOD price.

      I bought a used 3080 with a water block for $620.
but some people have to buy new or us peasants wont be able to upgrade.

    • If your having these doubts, then you probably don't need to the extra few frames. If you struggling with a very old card, then stop holding.

  • The pny non support verto deal was better tbh

  • +7

    HODL!!!!

  • +9

    Oh god it's happened.
Nvidia managed to trick me into thinking this is an acceptable price to pay for a second tier card

    • +3

      HODL!! 😭

    • Well, the more people get tricked this way, the more they'll think their pricing is acceptable.

  • +9

terrible card - 4080s is only 15% max better then 4070ti s (fk you nvidia with all the card release names yes) and it costs $300 more
its a $1500 card any day of the week - you pay more your dumb - neg all you want, its a fact

    • +6

      *you're

    • Not much option if you want good frame rates of 1440p on AAA games…

      • +2

        AMD

      • +1

for 2k 4070tis is good enough, or for less $ XTX
I still run 6800XT and have no issues at 2k

        • +1

7800XT would probably best the value buy.

          • @congo: yeah, they are insane value but ppl want RT and DLSS

      • +1

What are all these games I've never heard about that require a 4080S to run at 1440p?

    • jebus.

an **80 card is worth $1500?

      NVIDIA has us all duped.

  • When are the 5x series coming? I'm on a 6700xt right now which is fine for the moment, though some of that CP2077 path-tracing looks pretty nice…

    • +1

Even a 4090 struggles with Cyberpunk overdrive path tracing, it's nice to look at but I don't think anyone is realistically playing like this all the time and if they are i feel bad for their GPU. 5x series might not be until next year but if that's what you're looking for worth the wait, just be prepared to pay 3k+ for the 5090 to run it.

      • Will be worth it once Nvidia announce DLSS 6.9 exclusively on muh 5090tisooper AI cores, should be able to run GTA6 at a rock solid 24fps when path tracing is switched on.

        • Sad but likely true, although path tracing realistically is a shiny bonus. I've played Cyberpunk for over 200 hours with a mix of RT on and RT off and I never missed not having RT, depending on where you are even when focusing its very hard to see the minimal changes but I'm not someone who notices small details.

          • @lookingforadeal7: There's not much to miss about Cyberpunk in general.

            • +1

@Tbargain12: Has been my favourite game since release, fell short of expectations but story and voice acting alone is worth the praise. I didn't encounter any game breaking bugs though, only unintended mechanics that actually made the game more fun that they've since removed

      • +1

You can totally play CP path traced with a 4080 or 4090. And it looks fantastic too. Base frame rate sits around 60ish so that's what your frame time / input latency will be, but fps-wise with DLSS and Frame Gen it gets up to 120+ and it feels smooth and great to play. And the quality is fantastic, you won't see any artifacting etc unless you're looking for it, and Reflex works wonders for latency.

I played my 2nd playthrough mostly with PT and it was a fantastic experience.

        https://ibb.co/LtwMrw7

        https://ibb.co/VTZ5gMf

FPS / RTSS in top left corner

        • Nice is that at 4k? I'm just assuming most people buying a 4080/4090 will want to play at 4k but it might not be the case.

          • +1

@lookingforadeal7: 3440x1440, and with a 4080 / i5-12600k. I actually think 1440p is better suited for 4080/4090 but depends if you wanna push fidelity & frame rate or resolution I suppose

            • @jk82: I agree, moreso of an expectation thing if I was to buy a high end card I should be able to play the newest games at 4k at decent frames with all settings but Path Tracing is being used more as a tech demo atm, that statement kind of stands true if you don't include poorly optimized games/ports or path tracing features. Looks amazing at 1440p though I personally feel the costs outweigh the benefits when pushing to 4K gaming but it shouldn't be that way in 2024

      • I'd be targeting 1440p, so that probably helps. Not in any rush though, I can wait XD

        • Would be fine then but also need to take into account that a 5070 might beat the 4080 in performance and will likely cost less than this, might be a year off but i'm sure the 6700xt will do fine until then. Was able to get about 90-100 fps with my 6800 at 1440p FSR quality with a mix of high-ultra settings.

    • +1

If you've held out this long you may as well wait for the 5000 series launch, should be announced late this year or early next year I believe.

  • -1

Still only 1 sold lol. I purchased my 3080 for $1249. This would have to drop to sub $1300 for me to consider it.

    • +2

Not really a fair comparison considering you could buy a 4070 at $829 which is on par with the 3080.

  • +2

not a deal, buy the cheaper between the 4080 and 4080 Super, performance within 1-3% of each other.

  • mmm wish CA stocked some of the 2 fan 4070 ti supers

    • Wdym they have the Ventus 2x

      • 2 slot rather, the inno3d's. The ventus 2x is closer to 2.5 slot

  • +1

Think I will pull the trigger either 4070ts is around 1k or 4080 is around 1.3k.

  • Ive been holding with my 1080ti & 8700 so long I think I'll need a PSU upgrade as well, omfg the state of things!

    • +2

You'll likely need an everything upgrade

      • cant (profanity) wait! 😭😭😭

        • Just go with one of the cheap prebuilts here, the 4060 builds might be an upgrade and are $1000~ so not too bad

  • Hello, so been checking the prices and which ones here you think has good price:performance ratio?

I'm upgrading from gtx1080 and I think I can live with 4070 vanilla if recommended.
I might prefer dual fans card because I'm lazy to move my AIO cooler LOL — unless I have no choice.

    4080 Super - 1,656.65
    4070 Ti Super - 1,384.65
    4070 Ti - 1,199
    4070 Super - 1,002.15
    4070 - 879

    • +1

4070ti at $1069 or $1100 would seem to be best values (both triple fan though). Although if you can live with the 4070 definitely still a great option if it gets close to the $800 mark, was a model here for $829 recently. $200 is some decent savings if you don't need the extra juice.

      • Ok really really considering that PNY 4070ti now (also PNY because not a fan of RGB)

        Thanks for this!

        • No worries, the 4070ti is about 25% faster than the 4070 and it is 25% extra given those numbers actually so basically they are priced at what they should be against each other. 25% is a decent margin when talking raw performance though it'll be the difference of still being able to play at 1440p high frames in a year or so from now.

          • +1

@lookingforadeal7: I'm also looking at 7800XT which is valuable option although seems like it runs cooler than 4070, but it's more power hungry.

            Still leaning towards 4070ti

            • @lagur: 7800xt and 4070ti trade blows in some games but usually 4070ti comes out a bit ahead. That gap may close in future games though with the VRAM difference. If you want Ray tracing at all though definitely pick Nvidia. Hopefully there's more sales on 4070ti super soon though as it's a bit out of reach and in a weird spot for the cost imo. 16gb VRAM might make a bit of a difference down the line especially if you're considering keeping it for as long as you have the 1080.

              • @lookingforadeal7: I don't really care about RT right now, I'm more fps player / competative side hence I could even play on lowest setting and resolution scale to 75% just to make everything buttery smooth lol

Now, debate to myself does 4070ti worth extra $300? I use Nvidia for a while but I remember enjoying my HD4850 & HD6950, and both my kids use Radeons they are bang for the buck.

        • Do you do anything else other than gaming on the GPU?

Only reason is that the Ti models have an extra NVENC encoding block on the die.

          • @jlogic: Mostly workstation (coding and audio stuff) on 2 monitors and occasional gaming on 1440p/165.

Eventually I might try 4k gaming but I'm not expecting super high frames on it.

  • +1

CCPU got it for $1645 without needing code/ ebay plus account.

    https://www.ccpu.com.au/show_prod.php?class_id=video-nvidia&…

    • Nice their website never comes up for me from simple Google searches but they always seem to have best prices, guess they're passing on savings from web development

      • +1

hahahaha yeh. I usually check static ice. they don't have a comprehensive range like the bigger stores but prices for what they do stock are great.

        • +1

Static ice is good but unfortunately doesn't track the eBay coupon deals, I notice when I do use it though CPU often does have the best price and I'm assuming it's a smaller business so always good to support too.
