Case could be a bit bigger imo
The external part looks enormous in those photos!
I suppose that helps block unwanted noise though.
I'm at a loss with earbuds - I recently spent $70 on SkullCandy Dime 3 that get good reviews. But they sound really thin, tinny and high to me - ear-piercingly unpleasant. No bass at all, and I couldn't tell any difference between the three presets.
Admittedly I have significant hearing loss, but I wonder if the issue is that they fit my ears properly, so they sound as though I'm listening to someone else's headphones next to me, really loud.
So I'm not sure where I go from there with earbuds. Any thoughts appreciated (and my apologies this is a bit tangential to the OP).
At that price, probably could have gone the Soundcore Mini Pro HS's, or if you could spend a little more, the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro's were awesome for me. I keep mine tucked away for special occasion because of this.. 😅
Appreciate the reply. I have been keeping an eye on what Ozbargain for the past few months, but I ended up buying at an airport as a 26-hour flight seemed a good excuse to stop procrastinating.
Is there much variance in how well different brands of earbuds fit, or are they fairly standard?
They might all have a weird fitment for some ears. But in that case, I'd suggest looking into premium eartips. Thing to note is though, if you're using them on earbuds, the case may not close after..
I've been through the Comply Foam tips and the Spinfit silicone tips and find the silicone ones to fit better and last longer (don't need to be replaced every so often like the foam ones that eventually disintegrate after a few months) but can make the earbud stick out a little bit more.
@WasBargain: Cheers @WasBargain , I'll look into those then. Thanks again.
@sam buster: No worries mate.
Just a sidenote aswell, realised Spinfit brought out a new model that has like, an inner articulating section that might help you get that perfect fit, especially with the Dime 3's you have. They have a funky shape that the spinfits might really utilise. Just keep in mind again, it might not fit back in the case soo well, especially with that cool case design Skullcandy has for these with the protruding earbuds.
My Spinfit 360's didn't let my Sammy Buds Plus case close properly without having to actually push it closed (it should snap shut). And only a certain size would fit on my Mini Pro HS's if I remember correctly but the Liberty 3 Pros fit anything. One of the best looking cases too I reckon with the glow and how it slides. 😅
@WasBargain: Is it trial and error finding the right size?

I meant to say "Don't fit properly."
Can I answer VoIP calls such as Messenger or WhatsApp on my Pixel 6 with these earbuds?
Yes
I have some of the Creative Outlier (non pro) and ehh they ain't great from a usability perspective. Quite bulky, you have to open the case drawer the whole way to get them out (especially if you only want the right one, which is the deeper one in the drawer). I find it oddly annoying to figure out which is the left and right as without a hinge at the back you can look at it from the back and there's no visual indicator on the top of the headphone for which is L and R.
Another annoying thing which is quite common across a lot of true wireless headphones - if the charging case battery goes empty, the headphone thinks it has been removed from the case. It then connects to your bluetooth, so your phone won't play audio through it's external speaker. It will also then run down the battery for the headphones as they are on and connected, so you'll find that both the charging case and the headphone are at 0% battery. The case is advertised as being able to have 4 full charges, but in reality, the last one is unusable as you risk triggering this scenario. To top it off I think the LED for low charging case battery only turns on when the drawer is open - yup, when you're least likely to look at it as you're looking inside the drawer. As soon as you close the drawer it turns off, so you'd be surprised how easy it is to miss.
Hopefully they improved the button force - on the non pro I feel like I have to press it so hard to actuate that it physically hurts my ear. Oh, and it has LEDs on the outside of the case to show the headphone is charging inside the case. Incredibly annoying if they're on the bedside table or something as that LED will be on for like a good hour and is remarkably bright.
On the plus side, the case makes for a fun fidget toy. On the downside, every time you open and close it those L and R charging LEDs will stay on for a few minutes even if you haven't removed the headphones.
I much much prefer my set of Jabras, and at this price point you can get the Elite 3 on special.
After owning Outlier Air V3s I would not be rushing to buy another Outlier product.
Whats the issue with them? I thought they are great?
No specific issue, just mediocre. Got a pair for the gym, so not my EDC. Not sure how they compare to others in the price range.
I have the older Outliers and these newer Outlier Pro. Personally love the sound and usability - the size of case doesn't bother me. Noise cancelling is great in them. I paid $100 or so. For $79.95 I would purchase again
Just purchased these
Very average sound quality - exactly what you would expect from $80 earbuds
I also notice little to no change when I turn on ANC and ambient mode.
I am confident there are better options for sub $100 earphones, so I would not recommend but they are not AWFUL per se
