Melbourne Airport Parking Options

Looking to travel from Tulla. for a week and investigating my various parking options.

Have used Andrews several times in the past but you can wait 15-20 minutes for them to pick you up and take you back to the depo - a hassle.

Never tried the Tulla long term car park and are seeking input from members that have. For example, how convenient are the bus pick-up location vis-a-vis when you have parked your car, frequency of buses etc.

Any other off-airport car parking recommendations?

Input will be appreciated.

Long Term car park has a shuttle bus every 15 mins. I've used it a few times before and its okay. Depending on which section you park, it can take a few minutes to maybe around 20 minutes to get to the airport cause it does a loop to every pickup/drop off point in the long term / value carpark (e.g if you park at A it'll be the quickest to get to the airport on departure but on return it'll be the last stop in the carpark).

The annoying part about using it is that if you arrive or depart at a busy time the shuttle buses may be full and you may have to wait for a second shuttle bus or possibly even a third if it's really bad. The zoning is a bit odd where the bus goes G - H - F - E zoning then it's in alphabetical order reversed after that but I remember one time thinking I'd be the 2nd stop cause H comes after G in alphabetic order and therefore in reverse it would be G after H but no that was not the case and I missed my stop and did a full loop, back to the airport and then back to the parking to depart so maybe avoid parking in the G - H - F area to avoid confusion.

It has a few off airport car parking businesses around the airport, Andrews I think is not bad but I know guys from work like to use United Airport Parking Melbourne which is a multi level parking lot where you just drive in, park your car and walk out with your keys (No need to give them to the parking place) to the shuttle bus and then head to the airport. Also unless you park on the roof level which you shouldn't need to cause I don't think it ever gets that busy your car is undercover. Some airport parking locations charge you extra for undercover parking, some need your keys so they can move the car around as required for storage so you need to plan and arrange arrival date/time and it just ends up being a hassle with possible flight delays or changes.

The best is terminal/short term parking as it's very close, you park your car and just walk across but it's also quite pricey.

Hopefully the Melbourne Airport Rail doesn't get any more delays and we get a good rail network to the airport which I think will be much much better than the current lower cost options we have.

I use it all the time…

Buses are every 15 mins… Lots of stops around the car park…
If you don't have a lot of luggage, you can probably walk to the terminal in 5-10 mins anyway…

Haven’t used long term for a while but a mate did a few months back, parked so close to the terminals he said it was easier to walk than to walk to the bus

  • I used the google maps measuring tool and it's only 650 meters from the A shuttle bus stop (closest value/long term parking zone to airport) to Terminal 3 in a direct line. Terminal 4 is closer but Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 are a bit further, so its not too long to walk across. I haven't done it before, I'm a slow walker and it'd take me ages but it's definitely do-able.

  • The value car park is pretty good, I would say you don't have to walk more than ~100 m to get to any of the pick up points. I would personally look at getting dropped off or taking the SkyBus though.

They really should build the value car park into a multilevel parking lot… I feel like with how quickly the population is growing they're going to need a lot more parking in the next 10 years, and it's going to suck if you can't book it because it's full.

  • I recently used the Busy Beaver carpark, left my car there for 2 months and had a very good experience there.

Drop off and pick up was within 10 minutes, my car was exactly the same as I left it. As I read feedback of other carparks online, I took pictures of my car's mileage and petrol levels and were the same when I picked it up.

No issues at all and will use them again.

      Parking 'with benefits' ?

      • Hahaha 🤣
