Found this this morning while mowing.
Is this a cane toad? Pretty sure it is a juvenile. Want to make sure before I do anything.

This is in Queensland.

Thanks!

have you tried kissing it to find out?

    • Ms H. throwing a hat into the next election ring?

  • Should have mowed over it. Cane toads are a pest. I remember when I was a kid there were so many of them everywhere, we'd go out at night and spear them and kill so many but when one died seemed like 10 more took their place.

I'll freeze it to kill it as seems the consensus is it is a cane toad.

      • Cool-and-freeze is the recommended method: 12-24 hours in the fridge then a few days in the freezer. Good luck

We used to play baseball with them

Yeah, 80% sure that's a cane toad. Has the ridges above the eyes.

As for identification, I believe his name is Fred.

  • Looking at the glands, Id say yes.

However, I found a frog in Adelaide and while it looked like a cane toad it turned out to be a Marsh Frog.

You can shoot pictures through to Frog Watch in your State

    • They could also use the iNaturalist app.

  • I just took a guess, there was no option for “I don’t know”.

  • Is it a male or a female?

  • Lick the side of it's face, if your tongue goes numb it's a cane toad ;)
