Would Microsoft Laptop Go 2 Be Sufficient for Uni Assignments

Hi All,

I would like to purchase a laptop for mrs to do university assignments mainly using Word documents, PowerPoint and PDFs as well as some web browsing.

I came across Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 which is compact and lightweight as well.

Would like to know if it's good enough or not.

I would also like to know if there are other alternatives.

My budget is 1000 to 1200 AUD.

Thanks

  • Pretty much anything is sufficient for light usage.

    • there are also laptops posted here that would be ok - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/830789
    • refurbs(8th gen plus) if you're on more of a budget
    • framework for longer term usage and potential upgrades

I'm not sure about the surface pro specifically, but I'd be making sure you're getting decent/up to date specs for the price.

    • It’s not a Surface Pro. Far from it

Laptop recommendations are a frequent request - also worth having a read through recent posts and making questions more specific.

  • Does she use Android or iOS?

  • I suggest getting the best device possible, to avoid any blame when its assignment time.

I'd go with an M1 MacBook Air if she's cool with MacOS. It's $1349 on Apple Education Store and Officeworks right now but it has dropped below $1200 before.

Also $240 Apple gift card on “Back to Uni” promotion.

  • Buy MacBook Air even two years old model I just recently purchased surface go laptop 3 it’s not worth it mate, slow laptop for its price.

  • I suggest getting a lenovo or dell honestly (even tho I use surface book 2 for my stuff since i got in high school)

dell and lenovo are one of the better ones that let users upgrade/repair their devices in case something goes wrong

  • This Laptop looks good for under 1k - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/830789
