  If you value privacy, don't buy anything that doesn't support local-only operation eg. NVR or HomeAssistant, and configure your own remote access. At this point the list of vendors who've screwed up is way longer than those who haven't, not to mention cloud subscription costs (like Ring who just put their prices up).
