Lenovo L24m-40 23.8" 100Hz FHD IPS 75W USB-C Monitor w/ 4x USB-A Hub $199 + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C) @ Mwave (OW PB from $189.05)

160

Noticed there's a few deals for USB-C monitors with PD going atm which got me looking.

Happily paid a few bucks more for this one over others that are on offer for the following reasons:

  • 100Hz (vs 75Hz)
  • 75W PD (vs 60-65W PD)
  • 4x USB-A 3.2 hub (vs none)
  • 1300:1 contrast ratio (vs 1000:1)
  • Included USB-C to USB-C cable (vs HDMI)
  • Tilt, swivel, height, pivot to portrait (vs tilt only)

More specs below:

Panel: In-Plane Switching
Resolution: 1920x1080
Refresh Rate: 100Hz (Only for HDMI® input)
Sync Technology: AMD FreeSync™
Brightness: 250 cd/m²
Contrast Ratio: 1300:1
Speakers: 3Wx2
Stand: Tilt, Swivel, Pivot, Height Adjust Stand
Mounting: Supports VESA mount 100mm
USB Port: 4x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C® 3.2 Gen 1 (DP 1.2 Alt Mode, USB upstream)
Video Connector: 1x HDMI® 1.4, 1x USB-C® 3.2 Gen 1 (DP 1.2 Alt Mode)
Video Cables: USB Type-C® to Type-C cable
Power Adapter: Integrated
Base Warranty: 3-year

In-built power supply is great for portability, the stand provides decent cable management and a nifty phone holder slot, and it's an overall very elegant looking unit - so long as you're OK with the off-white/grey colour as opposed to the usual black trim.

Specs say 100Hz is only over HDMI, but I couldn't see max refresh for USB-C listed anywhere so I'll test and report back to confirm.

Per the title you can price beat at Officeworks to save a few bucks and C&C from your local OW store to avoid postage and save a few more. Enjoy!

Edit: pleased to report that USB-C does 100Hz, tested with:
- MBP 13" (M2, 2022) and this cable
- Lenovo Yoga 7 with included 1.8m USB-C to USB-C cable

Bonus: tested overdrive modes for ghosting with UFO Test. Nothing exciting but far from terrible for what it is. Min brightness measured at 60 nits, max at 250 as rated.

My unit has no bung pixels, no noticeable backlight bleed, and the IPS glow is perfectly acceptable. Speakers are what you'd expect, but they get plenty loud without distorting and would be perfectly fine in a pinch. The stand is nice and tall at max height, as expected given it can pivot to vertical orientation.

Absolutely stoked with this thing for the price, can't recommend it enough.

  • Whats the advantage with USB-C over Display port?

    • +1

You can plug in your Mac or USB C powered laptop to extent your monitor as well as power your laptop at the same time. No addition power cable to power your laptop. Very convenient!

      • Wait what? So the laptop can run off the Monitor power supply?

        • Yes in theory as long as the monitor can transmit 65W or above power I believe.

        • +2

Yep, USB Power Delivery spec, laptop can negotiate 20 volts from the USB on the monitor while also using it as an extra display.

This is why having manufactures (esp mobiles) still pursue other charging means annoys me, we finally have a good spec for USB power delivery that goes as far as 240w these days and is highly interchangeable with many things. Why use anything else?

        • Yes, if the laptop supports Power Delivery over USB-C (many do nowadays, but check specs for your specific model to be sure) then the laptop can be powered by the monitor. (Assuming the lappy is not super thirsty of course and that 75W is sufficient to charge it.)

If the lappy supports PD over USB-C along with data on the same port (commonly the case if PD is supported - kinda shitty and unusual if a port only does PD but not data), then a single USB-C cable from the monitor will provide your lappy with power + video + access to any USB devices attached to the monitor's 4-port USB-A hub. Super handy for things like webcams, external mics, keyboards/mice or their wireless receivers, etc as many modern lappies tend to have less USB-A ports these days.

        • Or you can buy a 20 dollar express hub to get the same result with any monitor with HDMI.

      • I have a Dell S2721DGF, does that have USB-C?

        • +1

Quick look at rtings says no.

If you do go looking for charging, you need more than just a C port, it does need to also support USP-PD.

        • If your laptop has only USB-C video, you can still connect it to your S2721DGF via USB-C to HDMI cable (or adaptor). Won't get power that way though, so you'd still need a charger. If you're limited to a single USB-C port on lappy and no HDMI, you could use something like this and plug your charger and HDMI cable from monitor into that.

          • @itscyanide: Yeh this is what im currently doing now. I was hoping my monitor supports USB-C so I can lose the laptop power brick
