[PS Plus, PS4] Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-Tered $3.99 @ PlayStation Store

230

Though the remaster—or re-Mars-ter, if you can stomach the title pun—doesn't fix the grave injustice that the game never had a true sequel, it's a compelling reminder of what made it a minor classic.

The first 3 were amazing. RF2 is easily my favourite. Despite the hate it had a lot of funny moments and you can't beat Sopot's speech.

I could never forget so many of the aspects of the series as well as a handful of maps(shoutout to the one in space on RF2 and one where you could tunnel through the roof with explosives on RF1), but this speech, oh my, as soon as I heard that voice, I got a semi-chill down my back.

  • This was such a fun game.

It was pretty stupid to go from a first-person arcade shooter to a third-person open-world RPG.

When I first played this, uhh… 15yrs ago? I remember being so salty at the start of the game because it was nothing like what my brain prepared itself for. A great playthrough, definitely the first of its kind on PlayStation.

I tried playing it again approx 3-5 years later and just couldn't bear to deal with those old-school-styled controls again. Lol.
Kind of like on PS1 where the button format to click and/or go forward was occasionally ⭕ and ❌ was to go back.

    • The O and X thing is a hold over from Japan, where O is Confirm/Enter and X is Go Back/Exit. You'll still see it very occasionally pop up on Japanese games that get released here.

  • A great game that's certainly worth the price. Strapping explosives to gas tanks, or vehicles, or both, to blow the hell out of buildings never gets old. The sledgehammer has a lot of weight to it, too, and you can feel the power behind it when you wallop enemies. It's a shame that the sequel was mostly indoors, and virtually ended the franchise.
