  • How is the fit? True to size?

    • +8

There are loads of reviews if you click the link, boss

    • Small fit!

Last time they had a deal, I got one size up from my usual runners size and it fit perfectly.

      • they also come in half sizes. I ordered my size, one up and down and returned 2

      • Got 14 and was too small. Had to break them in for 6 months and still barely fits haha

    • Go by CM in comparison to your other shoes. I've got a pair of XT-6's from Salomon that run small.

    • +1

Salomon are super narrow. Their wide sizing is like a standard size for other brands. Best to try in store first.

  • Are these breathable / suitable for summer? I already have winter hikers

    • +2

That depends… do you run hot in your shoes?

I run hot even in meshy sneakers and any Gore Tex shoes are unusable for me above 15°C or when it actually actively rains…

    • +1

My pair don't breathe and always get quite sweaty even on mild days, really only suited for cold weather IMO. Waiting for a similar pair of non-goretex hiking boots to be discounted like this but its always the goretext models

    • As goodwillN1 said, depends on your feet and how long you're in the boots. I use my X ultra's - which according to reviews have more padding than Salomon's cheaper models like these - all year round with zero problems. Imo Salomon mids also give excellent ankle and foot support - assuming yoiu get the correct fit. Reviews generally agree.

  • Would prefer a high top for more ankle support ,
but they do feel ok once broken in .

Can you show ANYTHING at all which suggests the SF is anything like you're trying to imply, or are you simply another racist who attempts to paint all Jews and Israelis with the same hyperbolic and simplistic brush?

    • -5

      Got any proof of that?

Spotlight Group ownership appears to reside with Ruben Fried and Morry Fraid. They may well support Israel's right to exist and the SF, does that make them extreme Zionists? Do you have ANY notion of what Jewish persecution led to last century, and the existential threats to Israelis by extremist c…s in the middle east now? Yes Israel under the corrupt Netanyahu has done a lot to ensure hatred is propagated but that's just one small part of a highly complex problem.

Hopefully your human rights concerns are much wider than this conflict. Boycotting middle east oil and airlines etc? Russian and Chinese goods? Long list of countries and regimes for you to work through. The principle is VERY good, sporadic implementation needs a lot of work.

      • +2

Sounds like a fair argument, but perhaps this "conversation" you lads are having is better had elsewhere..

        • +1

New to Ozbargain? I was responding to what are simplistic, poorly considered (maybe well-meant, maybe not), evidence-free and obviously biased insinuations. The same stuff makes regular appearances on deals. Feel free to ignore them. You'll note that not one of the antagonists has responded with evidence for their claims.

    • How does this affect footwear?

      • +1

        Hear hear

Can you stfu about this. I don't think buying some cheap shoes from Anaconda is going to equate to murdering people on the other side of the world. Unless anaconda is directly funneling profits to a warzone, or the above organisation is actually doing anything aside from being passively complicit, your comments make no difference.

Go out and actually make an active difference if you actually care enough about it rather than just spamming this information here.

        • -2

Bet ya $10 bucks the electrical components in your phone/car/pc have killed far more people than israel.
At least israel has a self defence excuse, not just manipulation of impoverished workers.

        • I'm too busy with all my other problems.

          • @Pusdi: The irony. How is that relevant to this deal?

      • It's simplistic nonsense based mostly on good intention (I hope). The products sold (like these) are often made in 'poorer' countries whose people rely on the economic support of big multinational companies. That doesn't let anyone off the hook (manufacturers, retailers, govts), it simply shows how farking superficial some of the comments here are.

Germany just voted that it's not a genocide and I've heard they are subject matter experts.

Anaconda is part of the The Spotlight Foundation.
      Is it?

      • -1

The answer our simple-minded activists refused to supply is - NO, IT'S NOT. Nor as far as I can see is the SF engaged in anything subversive.

It has escaped some/most of you that, like Baker's Delight ( https://twitter.com/pippercorn/status/1754078373624823815 ), Anaconda stores are run by franchisees, pay taxes and employ plenty of "Australians" - unlike some Ozbargain fav stores for example.

      Cringe Ozbargain activism

    • +2

      thank you.

      • +1

No worries mate. Glad you found it helpful

      • -1

Not that 'his' portrayal of the Spotlight Group or the Spotlight Foundation has any particular credibility (you need to do actual research yourself, not rely on opinions on this website), but if you click the bizzish nick and check out the comments you might begin to build up a picture.

    Shoes look good.

Can mods/admin please start banning the political shills that keep spamming every deal post lately?

    • Hear hear

  • Apparently fit quite narrow.

    • +1

Like many Salomon shoes/boots. Some models have wide fit options (eg X Ultra), worth searching for info online about that if you can't try before you buy.

    • +1

Perfect fit for the narrow minded people posting crap on here

      • -1

Some of them don't seem to think so

  • +5

Popcorn out but I never expected some religious nuts to frequent these shoe posts.

These shoes are great value for this price. RRP is silly though.

I was told that I need to wear BIRKENSTOCK sandals to look cool. Where can I get some good deal on a BIRKENSTOCK ARIZONA SOFT FOOTBED? Sorry for the noob queston. More of a techie than a fashoin dude.

  • Bought these in a previous deal, happy with them so far. Definitely feel a bit lighter and more flimsy than my X-Ultras, but for the price it's a great option especially if you're a casual hiker.

    • Also bought these 12-18 months ago. Great fit and comfy but noticed some significant wear on the front of the sole and some general wear and tear.

I've got a 12 hour round trip hike up Ol Doinyo Lengai in a couple months. Would you say the ultra are with the extra $100?

      • On my second pair of ultras, first pair lasted for many hikes (multiple 1-2 week trips + tons of day hikes) until the soles eventually fell apart. Not the worlds longest lasting boots but very good for the materials and price. If you're wearing out the daintrees probably a worthwhile upgrade. That or something solid in full leather like a Scarpa boot.

    • How do the X ultras go long term?

I plan to get the XA V9 in goretex as an all rounder shoe for backpacking but I found the sole quite rigid and not comfy at first. Hoping that means they last and once broken in are supportive

      • Don't need breaking in imo. One of their strengths is support (and grip), which comes from the overall design rigidity. Quite a few reviews online.

I have two pairs - one 'normal' fit (a little tight) and a later wide fit. Both are a few years old but haven't had constant use so I'm loath to suggest they fit your long term query. They're almost as good as new.

  • +1

Great shoe, but they are narrow and I found I needed to go up a size. After a few hours my feet started to ache due to the narrowness.

    • Thank-you. That info is much appreciated !

  • Can you use these for gardening?

    • +3

Sure. Just can't plant that much in them I guess \S

  • +1

    George Costanza favourite shoes

    • Those were Timberlands

      • +1

        Goretex is his favourite material

  • I wonder if I need size 8.5, but for men's shoes only have size 8 then 9, can I go for size 8.5 of women's shoes? Is there any difference between men and women versions?

  • Good for snowy condition?

  • Bought these last deal, lighter for sure but had to return due how narrow it is even though I went a size up.
They had no other sizes left otherwise would have tried next-next size up so refund it was

  • Got these from the last deal, and have only just test fitted them and don't find them narrow, I guess I don't have wide feet.

Length wise is fine for me, I normally wear mens 8US in nike/adidas, so bought uk7.5/8US in these hiking boots. YMMV.

  • Costanza is that you?

  • got these on the last deal and have used them for work + hiking and camping and have been very happy with them, ive really put the waterproofing to the test and its held up really well. great price for a great shoe imo

  • Thanks, OP. I have been watching the AeroPress Go for a while hoping it would go below $45. In the end, I just added it to my cart with this for the free delivery.

    • +1

I wana be as tight as you one day Sir

      • Something we must all aspire to

      • Haha, thanks! I forgot to add, $20 of the $129 total was paid using a gift card that came free from a previous deal at the end of last year that you got when you purchased a $100 gift card!

  • +1

I previously jumped on this deal. It's great on shorter hikes. I'll be putting it through its pace when I take it the Himalayas in March.

  • Don't hike. Purchased.

  • Went for it, but I read about the narrow comments now. will try it and see if I can refund.

I think Ideally I should fit my size in stores and await a deal.

for Casual blue mountains and kuringai Nat Park hiking.

    • I'm surprised so many people find these narrow, I have fairly wide feet and find Salomon's are the best fitting brand for them. Definitely try them on before you write them off.

  • Past threads on this seem to variously say, sizing is fine / order half size up / order a size up / order multiple pairs of various sizes and return all the wrong ones.
Can recommend a size for someone who fits a US 12 size New Balance?

update: ordered a 13, I will do my ozbargain duty and have a whinge in future threads if this was a bad decision

    • +1

Got the one size up shoes and sides are a snug good fit.
Front to big toe has a bit more space than usual but no problemo, very comfortable.
Overall no ragrets, I'll keep them
