[PC] Free 12-Month iRacing Subcription (New Members Only) @ Motorsport Australia

1210

iRacing is a popular online racing simulator. Memberships are usually very pricey (>$100 AUD yearly).
Motorsport Australia is the national FIA ASN, but offers an iRacing code with completely free memberships (unlike other countries where you need to be a paying member - see Motorsports UK)

You must first sign up as a (free) Motorsport Australia member here. I didn't have to go through the Motorsport Australia membership hoop at the time, so can't comment on that step. EDIT: After you have your Motorsport membership number, you can complete the iRacing code request form (the deal link). After completing the iRacing request form, it took about a week for me to receive an email from Motorsports Australia with the iRacing code.

I did this a little while ago, tried it and didn't like sim racing enough to continue. Plus the pricing system is a bit crazy to me, but likely worth it for those who are competitive and love the online racing. Forgot to post it until I saw this Assetto Corsa deal which reminded me of iRacing lol.

The membership also includes the FIA F4 car in iRacing (from my experience, though not listed by Motorsport Australia - makes sense since these yearly codes are an FIA and iRacing partnership).

  • Nice reminder. Thanks.

I signed up Motorsport Australia membership a couple of months back, and never received my iRacing voucher. I have just emailed them to remind them about it.

Once you sign up for a Motorsport Australia membership, do you need to apply for the iRacing Voucher or do anything else, or do you just wait for it?

    • Apply for the voucher separately to the MA Speed or eSports license

      • I tried to apply for the eSports Licence, but they want $30.

Am I needing to go somewhere else?

Same question, how is this 'free' when you seem to need to pay for a licence to qualify?

    • worked fine chrome, desktop..

      • thanks I removed my comment… the form didn't say the issue was my email, but the issue was my email… it didn't like custom domain address I guess.

cant sign up with brave or chrome

    • +3

clicking the sign up button does nothing on chrome and edge

    • +1

      Firefox not working either.

Maybe they're getting DDOS'd by OzB'ers, although 250 click throughs is not a lot.

    • I couldn't at first via Edge but then it worked when i did it InPrivate/Incognito

  • Cannot sign up using Chrome, Edge and Brave

If you’re trying to sign up on a mobile browser it doesn’t seem to be working.. however if you use chrome and request the desktop version of the page the sign up button should work just make sure to click on the text.

      • I tried this and didnt work on iOS. I'll keep trying! Thanks for the workaround!

        • Hmm strange, worked on my iPhone. Good luck :)

  • same here

  • It's crashed. Badoom boom.

This is a great deal and I love iracing, but don't be fooled into thinking you can realistically enjoy the game without spending anything. Once you get out of rookies you'll rack up the spending pretty quickly.

  • how do I get my member ID? I haven't had a cams licence in 2 years

I assume free for new iRacing members and not new Motorsport Australia members, right?

  • Does anyone know if the iRacing code has any expiry date to activate by?

    • Doesn't state any expiry date in the email containing the code. I redeemed mine 2 months later

  • Strange how they want 2x emergency contacts

We are really sorry to tell you that your husband's computer crashed while driving and he won't be with us for much longer.

  • Great initiative, I've been playing this over the last 5 months or so. Coming from Forza Motorsport/casual titles - the game is very enjoyable especially if you like competition and online racing. The free cars (MX-5, GR86, FIA F4, Formula 1600 etc) have full lobbies usually. One downside is most the race servers are hosted in US Boston so your ping is usually over 200ms, but the netcode seems solid and I don't really notice it.

You don't need to buy additional tracks/cars to enjoy it, but once you're hooked you'll want quicker cars (GT4/GT3/F3 etc)

Meh …. ACC all the way.

Well all the way until AC2 is out :P

    • ACC = assassin's creed chronicles? :P

  • How many tracks come with this free subscription?

    • +1

Around 21, but race series rotate tracks on a weekly basis. So you don't drive them all unless you play offline mode

  • Am I supposed to apply for an Esports license or do i just wait for an email with my iracing voucher?

    • Very unclear from the instructions but the form for the iRacing code seems to require a esports licence?

  • It's been couple of weeks and I still haven't received my iRacing Voucher :(

  • just got mine!

  • Yep got mine

OP, not sure why this post from 6 months ago is on the front page, but anyway…

I can't fill out the iRacing form as I don't have an eSports licence, which is not mentioned in your instructions. This seems to cost money - is that right? Is there some other way to get the iRacing code? Doesn't seem to be "completely free" so something might have changed?

    • Guess i'll have to pay $30 for the eSport licence or did you figure this out? Maybe it was free 6 months ago?

    • I have no idea why as well, but yes it does seem to have been changed unfortunately. No longer free, I'll update the post.

      • But seems you can still get the Iracing for free which is normally $100 right? So just need a $30 licence which is still good i suppose?

This deal is extremely misleading. Limited tracks and cars to start and before you know it you've spent 000s, and need to pay the monthly subscription. Way more than any other sim. If you're okay with that, whatever, but it's not like you spend this $30 and you're done.

If you want a great racing Sim with laser scanned cars and all the tracks try Assetto Corsa Competizione and join a league of guys who care about close racing or even better Assetto Corsa which is a similar age but a lot more care and track options and it's supported by the community. Assetto Corsa with all the tracks is like under $10 on sale.
