  • Can you please recommend a blend?

I've tried many flavours and never found a favourite.
It's for exclusively milk based drinks with breville db and niche zero with preference for vanilla/chocolate notes over berry, spice, or citrus notes.

    Thanks.

    • +2

Hey there teacherer - I recommend the Enterprise Blend for you.
Wec used to run this in our coffee van and it's great for all coffee types including milk.

      Cheers
      Dan

      • Thanks Dan

      • Hi Dan, tried the enterprise blend for my milk based coffees - it's a solid cup and nice to get the day started. I was wondering if you guys had something more refined in terms of aromas? Chocolate, nut, caramel perhaps. 🙏

        • +1

Hey there Powlie85 - I would maybe try the Saratoga Blend - similar roast level to the Enterprise but could be what you are looking for.

          I hope that helps.

          Cheers
          Dan

  • Checked the site about an hour ago as I'm getting low. Figured a sale must be near XD

    • -1

Figured a sale must be near XD

Just wait a week, it'll be back

  • I love their decaf. It tastes just as good as normal coffee!

If you have gotten the Breville dual boiler and a eureka specialita from previous deals like I did, this video is quite detailed on how to get your shots just right: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Zs3EjbZ-9g

    • +2

The decaf is excellent. Just goes stale quickly.
James hoffman had a good explanation for that
      https://youtu.be/yYTSdlOdkn0?si=m56PNghRWDLt_qis

    • Thanks so much for the feedback afyd - super pleased youb are enjoying the Decaf - Cheers Dan

    • That's a fantastic video @afayd - very detailed and helpful. Great work!
If it's ok with you, I will refer people to view that now and then.

      Thanks so much.

      Cheers
      Dan

      • Not a problem, Dan. Feel free mate! I’m glad you’ve found it helpful.

  • Hi Dan,

Been buying your Sumatra blend for a while now and love it!

Just a random question, are your coffee bags recyclable? Doesn't say on the packaging so just wanted to make sure I'm disposing of them correctly.thanks!

    • Hey there cantthinkofone - The bags are pretty challenging to get recycled at the moment given they are multi-layered soft plastic. The RedCycle guys used to take them but are offline at the moment. We are trying to find an alternative for sure.

      Cheers
      Dan

    • There is no soft plastic recycler of any type on the continent… Yet everything is in soft plastic.

  • Hi

I'm hoping you sell magical beans which would save me from throwing my brand new Breville Dual Boiler and Smart Grinder Pro out the window.

I drink a plain and simple Latte which makes this all the more frustrating.

What would you recommend to buy for the most easiest (forgiving) to extract balanced expresso shots? .

    • -1

I generally put 4 shots (2 double shots) in each coffee. But I cut off each double shot after a few seconds so I'm only getting the really dark part of the extraction. Makes the coffees taste really robust and tasty. But I'm not an experienced coffee drinker. Just like my coffees really strong. Also recommend Bonsoy instead of dairy milk.

      • gosh.

      • +1

        Lawful but awful

    • What issues are you having with your shots?

      • Tried so many different variations, grind size, puck disk, WDT, pre-infusion time, water temp, grams of coffee in the basket etc

I think my shots are under extracted but I'm not 100% sure.

After pulling a shot, they smell… well awful, I can tell it is going to taste rubbish before even trying it :(

        • +1

What coffee were you using? as the saying goes garbage in garbage out.

          • @ozlurker: I was buying beans from Clean Skin Coffee, there Full Throttle blend. Roast date has always been within a month. What makes is so frustrating is, I buy takeaway cups from them over the weekend, so delicious, smooth and creamy. I've not been able to come close to it :(

            • @SimmoAus05: Are they using the same blend? If so try asking them the recipe, how many grams in and out in how many seconds.

              • @ozlurker: @ozlurker yes that bean is an option when ordering in shop from them. I have tried to match their recipe of 20g in 45g out for 28 - 32 seconds.

                • @SimmoAus05: Feel your pain….after months..got it sorted.

Sounds like your shots are channeling.
Do you have a bottomless portafilter? If so, are little squirts shooting out (that's channeling). My solutions are as follows.

                  1. If it's channeling always on the same side of the puck, put a puck screen (or the plastic internal top filter of a Map pod) on top of your pucks.

                  2. Check your pump pressure. Should be 9 bar. All pumps are 15 bar. So there is an over pressure valve (OPV) in there. Undo that until it gets closer to 9 bar (mine was set at 12). This also meant I no longer needed 1 above.

                  3. Even with the OPV fully open, mine is 10 bar. So putting a dimmer on the pump circuit to reduce the pump output to 9 bar. Could leave it, but it's still a bit rapid.

                  4. I noticed the stock Breville tamp doesn't reach the edges well. So channeling slips under the edges.
                    a) 3D print or buy a better fitting tamp.
                    b) Try tilting the tamp slightly and do a 'around the world' spin around the edges (real lightly due to a high psi from an edge) before doing a final / normal straight down tamp. So the edges are compacted in first. This probably had the biggest effect for me..and haven't seen it recommended anywhere. It also meant I could grind a little less coarse (as the machine would not allow a single drop to come out once the channeling avenues were stopped).

Coffee flavour is night and day different. I can't believe I'm using the same coffee.

As for measuring, it's great for your dose…Ie whack 18g or whatever in. Then use your eyes with a bottomless portafilter. When the tiger stripes are disappearing. Hit stop. Look at your yield for reference. But the 30 out in 30 sec etc is just a ball park. It differs each time. Use your eyes (not a clock), and it will be right each time.

                  • @tunzafun001: Hi @tunzafun001

                    Thanks for the detailed reply.

I don't have a bottomless filter, I have been somewhat put off as I am a bit over spending money trying to make a simple latte.

Before the BDB, I had a Sunbeam machine, thinking it was the problem. Talked myself into the BDB as it was somewhat more configurable, pre-infusion time, pressure, water temp etc. Unfortunately, $1k later, still no enjoyable latte :(

I am using the standard tamp included as well, along with a puck screen.

I'll do some investigation, whats another $200… maybe I should hand in my ozbargain membership card for wasting money though…

                    • @SimmoAus05: I paid $25 for my bottomless portafilter on either eBay or Ali Express…can't remember.

Have you also tried just doing a full shot on just preinfusion pressure for reference?

                      • @tunzafun001: @tunzafun001

I don't think so? How do I do that? Just hold down the manual button until the 40 grams of coffee comes out?

                        • @SimmoAus05: Yes. Also try variations..ie. 5, 10, 15, 20 seconds of pre infusion, and variations of full infusion.
Ie. 15 sec pre inf/ 3 sec full might just be the flavour profile you like.

    • +1

Hey there SimmoAus05 - Don't throw it out the window buddy :)
Your perfect coffee is in there I promise.
Firstly, go with the Enterprise Blend.
Secondly, have a look at our simple dialling in guide for a bit of basic info here: https://airjo.com/pages/dialling-in
Then when you are running your shots, if you want to, shoot me an email so I can hopefully help based on your extraction results.

      Cheers
      Dan

      • Thanks Dan

I'll order a bag and let you know how I go… fingers crossed!!

    • I reckon your grinder is letting you down. I had BES900 for awhile, switching out the stock grinder for a commercial allowed me to dial in some sweet shots, 30s/30ml double basket unpressurised.
Needless to say, chuck away the pressurised basket.
Wasting your money on nice beans if your setup isn't tuned right, better off churning through Aldi beans until you can pull a decent shot with those. It is totally possible to.

      • @karn1911 I have wondered that as well, just trying to avoid spending money to find out it doesn't fix it. Maybe I bite the bullet and either try a $100 hand grinder or $500+ Varia VS3…

        • Yeah the sgp and bdb are hopelessly mismatched. Like others have said your Grinder should take up more of your budget than your machine

      • Yep I spent more money on the grinder first as everyone told me this is what will make/break your coffee!

  • I've been keen to give AIRJO a try. Cheers for the deal!

    • Thanks so much bkt - please let us know how it goes for you.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Do you have any blends that taste similar to Ona Raspberry Candy?

  • hi OP / folks,

which grind should I choose if I'm used to drink instant coffee / 3 in 1 coffee sachet / Nescafe 43?

I do not have coffee machine.
Do I need to buy coffee paper filter?

Looking to buy Sumatran, as it seems popular.

    • +1

Hey there babiguling - you really need some sort of kit/equipment to brew fresh coffee. I would recommend you look at inexpensive items like a French Press/Plunger or a Moka Pot/StoveTop - that way you can get started on your transition from instant to fresh on the best foot.

      I hope that helps

      Cheers
      Dan

      • OK I see, thanks Dan

        • +2

For a cheap way to brew fresh coffee, and you like it strong, look at a 4 cup Moka Pot on Amazon. Then get the stovetop grind from AIRJO and Enterprise Blend. Message me if you want advice with the Moka Pot as there’s a couple of tricks to it.

          Moka pot: https://amzn.asia/d/hKyEaLv

          • @Skramit: @skramit thanks mate,..will look into it for sure. appreciated
anything I can buy from Kmart? plunger, grinder

not sure what kind of coffee result will each tool produce… if anyone could please advise..
            Thanks

            • +1

@babiguling: What sort of coffee do you usually drink? Black? White?

I think the plunger would be OK for a step up from instant. As Skramit said, get preground coffee first to see if you like plunger coffee. I do, it's quite smooth and mellow compared to espresso so I like to go back and forth between them. Put a couple of heaps teaspoons in, add water that's just a bit cooled down after boiling, let brew for some time, plunge, pour.

Plunger will give a stronger coffee than instant and filter. If you'd prefer a bit milder you could get an Aeropress instead of a plunger, they come with paper filters and they give a milder brew than plunger.

If you like it then you could move into moka pot/espresso which is a big step again.

              • @kiitos: kiitos,… usually I drink nescafe/moccona kind of coffee + milk + sugar. Wanting to try fresh coffee,. but prefer something with simpler process.
might try plunger first as OP suggested as well. Thank you for your suggestions/tips

          • @Skramit: @Skramit is spot on. People pay thousands for these espresso machines when a good moka pot does the trick if not better for $70 lol.

Always but a moka that suits the people you brewing for. A 4 cup is perfect for two people. For example, if my wife not here, I leave half the espresso in the fridge for a yummy iced coffee in the afternoon:)

Another option is a moka Britta https://amzn.asia/d/fATfBLO

Makes more of a Crema espresso, similar to a machine. Furthermore, has alot less sentiment on bottom of your cup.

      • OK finally bought! - the Sumatran Blend | Plunger Grind. ORDER #xxx388
I will try to use the coffee plunger from Kmart 1st, hope it will work OK.
        thanks OP

    Sumatra blend is highly recommended!!

    • Thanks so much for the recommendation Martygallin! Really appreciate it.

      Cheers
      Dan

Did you have any recommendations for a blend? I drink my coffee black and like fruitier notes over chocolatey notes.

I would also love some advice on dialing this in for a Breville Barista Express

    • +1

Hey there krayz - I would recommend one of the lighter roasts like the Sumatra or Pegasus.
In terms of dialling in, there is a guide recipe on each blend page. Thwere is also our dialling in guide here: https://airjo.com/pages/dialling-in

Plus, you can always reach out to me directly on email [email protected] or site chat when running shots in case I can help with some tweaks.

      I hope that helps

      Cheers
      Dan

Barista Express seems to have manual extraction mode like the BDB. Definitely check this to see how to get the extraction right for airjo beans www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Zs3EjbZ-9g

  • Hi Dan.

I bought the Enterprise blend last time. I am now looking for something stronger. What would you recommend?

    • +1

Hey there emjay2000 - I would recommend you jump up a notch to the Stargazer Blend.
Super keen to hear your feedback on that compared to the Enterprise.

      Thanks for asking.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • @AIRJO CoffeeRoasters I was about to pull the trigger last time but missed the sale by an hour, so I'm glad to see this haha

Could you please provide a recommendation? I recently rediscovered my aeropress and so I want to try exploring lighter roasts for the first time!

I stayed away from lighter roasts because I was so used to milk coffees but when I switched to black I never thought to change that rule. Thanks in advance!

    • +1

Hey there CityHunter! - I would recommend the Sumatra or the Pegasus as lights roasts for you.
Please do let us know how it goes - always keen to hear what works (and what doesn't) with all brew methods.

      Cheers
      Dan

Any recommendations for an Aeropress setup or are all these blends more for espresso machines

    • Hey there Furorsekka - you could try the Saratoga or even the Pegasus as great options to start with for the Aeropress.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Legend, bean keen to try for awhile. Bag of Campos about to run out, so I'll give the stargazer a bash. Many thanks!

    • Great choice LaTerrible!! - please let us know how they go.

      Cheers
      Dan

Mor Ethan twice the price of aldi, are they twice as good? Interested to try it out.

    • We don't do that here

    • Lol can people give their thoughts instead of just down voting. I said I was interested, and prefer not buying from massive corporations where it's good value, but this is more than double the price, so I just wanted some honest opinions on the product?

If it helps, I've got a pretty entry level machine (delonghi dedica) so not even sure if I can get the best out of premium beans.

      • +2

From my experience, i don't enjoy Aldi coffee beans, have tried them all, and fresh ones within weeks from Roasting. To me they taste one dimensional with no depth of flavour. The price is about the only good thing about them. Airjo actually taste like a coffee i'd expect from a cafe, great flavours and fresh. For this price give it a go. Don't like it go back to your Aldi beans!

  • My Decaf jar has about two days' worth left. Perfect timing.

    • Great to hear ky1975 - jump in quick - not much Decaf left this week.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Dan any advice for brewing your decaf? Anything different needed?

Have been using enterprise. Is it similar?

    • Hey there Skramit - great question - grind a little finer than you would the Enterprise - otherwise follow the same dialling in logic.
If you need any guidance please shoot me a message when you have a shot ot two to review.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Recommendation for a cold brew and recommendations for how to brew for best results grind size, quantity for 1lt of water? I use the Hario 1lt cold brew pot… I like fruity berry notes..currently using the fieldwork more village beans https://fieldworkcoffee.com.au/products/kore-village

    • Hey there Lookingforabargain - if you are looking for a lighter roast and fruitier notes for the cold brew, I would recommend the Pegasus Blend as a great one for you. Grind size I recommend you run with whatever you have used before and tweak based on results. Ratio I recommend 1:8

Thanks so much for asking and I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • What is the best recommendation for filter coffee?

    • +1

Hi missmelb - I would recommend the Enterprise or Saratoga Blend for you.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • I still have some from the previous deal. i wish there is an option to delay the delivery considering you roast the beans quite often?

    • Hey there khey - we don't have a delayed option but the timing might be good for you when the next one comes around.

      Cheers
      Dan

      • I brought two bags for how politely you handled that request. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, I would not have been this cordial haha

        Customer service 5/5.

        • Well thank you very much eagerfisherman :)
Genuinely appreciate your order and your inspiration.

          Cheers
          Dan

  • Have been a long time Sumatra fan. Despite it being a light roast, a good quality grinder and proper puck prep makes a wicked milk based coffee. I ventured out this time and I’m giving Saratoga a go, fingers crossed!

    • Hey there Camel - thaks so much for your order.
Super keen to here how the Saratoga goes for you. Please let us know.

  • Just grabbed 2x Enterprise bags. All crappy & expensive cafes near me, so home cafe it is!

I think you may now have the best cafe in the village Dose Pipe Sutututu :)

      Thanks so much!

  • If I buy two bags of coffee, can I just store one of the bags of beans (in the bag it comes with, provided that I don't open it) in the pantry, or do I need to do something special to preserve them?

    • Hey there kyoumei and thanks for asking. the bags are perfectly fine for storage. Be sure to keep them in a cool dry place and they will stay fresher for longer.
That said, I would always recommend trying to avoid "overstocking". Fresh is always best, and if you can grab enough to last you a few weeks we do have fairly regular sales to jump in on.

      I hope that helps.
      Cheers
      Dan

    • Hey mate, I use vacuum seal and freezer and honestly can't taste the difference between that and fresh, it's great because you can stock up on deals like this one.

  • Hello AIRJO

Been wanting to try your coffee for a little while. Have been a fan on this blend from a competitor: https://inglewoodcoffeeroasters.com.au/collections/blend/pro…

Any recs for a similar blend from AIRJO?

    • Hey there Relocate2835 - thanks so much for giving us a go.
I recommend the Enterprise as a great place to start. You can get a ripper of an extraction out of this and it sits in the middle of our range in terms of roast level.

I hope that helps and I am keen to hear how it goes for you.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • I normally go for Redbrick or Cosmorex but at this price its hard to not give it a go. Ordered some Enterprise for my milk-based coffees.

    • Great to hear. Thanks so much bargainer44 - please let us know how it goes for you.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Can vouch for the Enterprise blend - very nice indeed.

Any recommendations for a stronger tasting one? Always keen to try different blends.

    • +1

Hey there SourGrape1122 - I would recommend you jump up to the Stargazer Blend - super keen to hear how it compares for you.

      Thanks for asking.

  • Hi! Also looking for a recommendation.
I like to drink coffee in a mix of long black or with milk. Filter coffee.
I want it to be smooth and prefer darker roasts.
Caffeine level not too high preferably

  • I bought the decaf from the last deal. It is roasted a little too dark for my liking.

  • +1

Do you expect that the decaf blend will be stocked before the sale finishes?

  • Tell me more about Thunderchild, will it knock my socks off? Like my beans strong

  • +1

Hey Dan, will you folks be restocking the decaf before COB today?

  • '1kg Coffee Bags $35' is supposed to be a bargain ?

yesterday I bought 2x 1kg vacuum packs of Lavazza Gold coffee from Coles for $19 each

as we walked out milady looked at the receipt showing 'Savings $38' - huh !?

I browsed the list of shopping and saw I'd paid $38 for the 2kg coffee and remembered - the coffee shelf said half price, so it said 'savings $38'

P.S. I wait for these regular deals, which is why I buy 2kg at a time - suits me - meh

  • Hey mate, just a heads up, I got 2 bags when I only ordered and paid for 1.
