Please consider something else. Worst mesh system I've ever had to deal with.

My experience with the 3 pack was the opposite. Very easy to set up and use. Only the paywall got annoying with nagging prompts

    • Agreed it’s not the best. I tried the same model in a 3-pack after a glowing recommendation from a friend and had endless little problems the entire time I used it. Setup was not smooth, accessing it was difficult if not using the app (NetGear desparately want you to use their app instead of diving into the GUI to do real administration), and I always had problems getting IoT things to connect & stay connected. After putting up with it for a year I ditched it and went to the Netcomm NF20MESH from Aussie Broadband instead. Seamless setup, easy administration, and IoT stuff Just Plain Works. Would not recommend Orbi at all.

    TP link or gtfo

    • Which tplink model do you recommend in this price range?

    • Depending on the model I wouldn't recommend the cloud managed devices unless you're happy not being able to configure any of the services

    • Which one? Because I got the x20dsl recently and it's been pretty shit, sudden lost of internet connection on devices randomly, one can't do anything and the other can browse perfectly fine. And we have less than 10 devices connected to it.

  • "Dual-core processor ensures smooth 4K UHD streaming"
The rest of the listing says it is a quad core (it is also BS that you need a dual core processor to stream 4K UHD).

It was around this price range for a while. Bought them at the same price before Christmas and I must say quite satisfied with the mesh, with 1 router and 1 satellite covers the whole 4 bed house also the garden and the front yard.

  • I've seen a few mesh system posts on OB but never a modem/router. Mine is old, so a mesh is an afterthought to the initial problem, myself.

  • Just get this beast instead for about the same price https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006057047467.html

    Xiaomi Router 7000

I would bet on a single unit of this providing better wifi than any cheap mesh system.

It will reach around 100 meters away depending on LOS and the antenna on the other end.
I got two and set up a mesh at my brothers hobby farm one in the main house and another set up in a farm house 80 meters away. The farmhouse now has around 70 megabit (300 in the main house)

Even without knowing chinese its very simple to set up, you just need to buy a $1 universal adaptor from Temu.

  • I have the 3 pack and its fine for normal use but for someone with 50+ smart home devices this is extremely painful to manage.

  • I bought one last year for the same price (1 router and 1 satellite). Since then, I’ve enjoyed exceptional coverage throughout my three-bedroom house, extending seamlessly into the garden and backyard. Setting up was a breeze, thanks to the user-friendly app. I’ve connected a variety of devices, including 5-6 IoT devices, multiple TVs, several phones, and laptops, all of which work flawlessly.
