This game worth copping? Thought I'd share as it seems to be a good price (not the cheapest but close).

Same but not for my son for me hahaha
My 7 year old has this game, and the first one Kingdom Battle. He loves them both, definitely his go to games. He plays independently 95% of the time, just needs help to defeat the bosses sometimes.
Easy enough that kids can beat it but it still has some charm and depth to it.
I would say its definitely worth $20-$30, wouldnt pay full price for it.
Is very similar to the first game, if you liked/hated that style than this is just more of the same.
i got it and finished it, as did my 8 year old. Both of us loved it, great fun and good length
Thanks all, pulled the trigger.
I got this for my 7 yo son and he didn’t like it. He doesn’t play this at all. I then got super mario bros and he loves it.
Kids, so unpredictable/unreliable haha.
My 6yo LOVES Mario Odyssey, he finished it a while back though. Got him Super Mario Wonder for Christmas - he played briefly but has already gone back to Odyssey…
I can kind of understand though as going to 2D side scroller is very different to 3D open world.
I got it for Christmas, I like it nice puzzle game with some silliness to it.
The world maps and exploration between places is a bit of a pain in the arse if you playing it consistently and some of the enemies are random spawns so level difficulty can vary wildly if they spawn certain enemies too close. None are deal breakers but minor annoyances.
Keen to get it for my future son
Fair few reviews on YouTube of course.
But my general rule is if it's a first party Nintendo title on switch under $30 on sale buy it.
You can sell/trade it later quite easily. This isn't first party though is it? Considering it's Ubisoft?
Oops missed that.
I would still class it as First party as it has Mario in the title.
This is developed by ubisoft, not Nintendo. Still worth the price though
I bought it recently for the same price and working my way through it. Awesome game so far.
Hey, I think it’s a great game (first one was good too). There are lots of characters and customisations for them. The story is entertaining and the gameplay is fun. Definitely recommend for $29.
The first game Kingdom Battle was terrific, reviews suggest this is better. If I still owned a Switch I'd buy it.
Terrific game. Better than Kingdom Battle, and that was pretty good aswell.

If you like digital it goes on sale to almost this price every couple months.
Also - I remember from the original (Kingdom Battle) that the base and gold would go on good sales, but the season pass alone didn't for what felt like an eternity. Seems that's not he case with sparks of hope, so could definitely buy the base game physical and grab the season pass on a sale if you want the extra content.
The base game was excellent, haven't got around to this one due to it landing in a super congested launch window last year, but it looks good!
Still waiting for a gold edition lol
Classic Ubisoft with their money milking 'season pass' business model
There already is a gold edition when it launched so you're waiting for something that already is.
This was like $25 before cashbacks a month or two back from eBay eb games ;)
As in digital? Which isn’t the same >.>
It is a different game
For $29 yes
Typical Ubisoft discounting, the game is OK but is really a turn based game with Mario in it. Nothing like any other Mario game, if you can find a $10 perks voucher and get it for $19 that’s about what it’s worth.
This has no team play. Very disappointing.
Yeah that was our big disappointment with it. I had fun playing multiplayer with my younger kid in the original. We just hotseat if we want to, but this one didn't seem as good as the original anyway. Then again we only played a few hours of the first one then put it away and when we came back to it ages later we loved it and played it to the end, so it might grab me in the inevitable round 2.
I bought Kingdom Batttle a while ago and couldn't get into it, maybe you need to like turn based strategy games.
It's a good game. The first game you had to move, then act. This game you can move as many times as you want within a certain perimeter until you shoot. It definitely makes it easier. The only reason to change the mechanic to this way is because the first game didn't have an undo button on movement, and that could be a real screw-over if you clicked the wrong spot or couldn't shoot at the required angle.
Issue 1. I'd play on hardest difficulty to avoid boredom.
Issue 2. You'll need at least one healer or blocker. So you're stuck with either peach/rabbid peach. You don't have full freedom in your choice of 3 team members. Less skilled people (kids) may be stuck with both peach and rabbid peach unless they drop the difficulty.
Issue 3. The DLC is fairly poor. The first DLC they put zero effort into and it's a chore. The second they made a nice world but so much so that it's quite easy to get lost… and the ASMR is totally farked so you will be playing with the sound totally off. However I like DLC 2 overall. The Rayman DLC level is the opposite so far as it's an extremely simple layout. Using Rayman is nice (NB: You're forced to use rayman, rabbid mario and rabbid peach in this one).
It's casual IMHO but good and totally worth this price. Just maybe not the DLC.
Love this game (and the prequel). No brainer at this price, imo.
Really enjoyed the first one. Should be fun to get into. Thanks for the post
Keen to hear reviews from people before I potentially get this for my son.
