"L4D2 is a must have game for PC gamers."

That's a pretty big call. Lol I look forward to the others, fanbois(?), chipping you on that. :D

Actually, I'd definitely put it down to a "must have PC game" … campaign is average, co-op is fun, but the versus mode is the best gaming experience … 4 people against 4 zombies, a truely co-operative game (if you go rambo, you're dead, zombies work best as a team, multiple zombie types, etc etc etc)

I could be a little biased though, i have clocked up over 1100 hours on the game

anyone know how to get the uncensored version using this deal?

    • Did the release the uncensored for us after the law passed?

      • Sadly I think not.

      • AFAIK, games that are banned, still are and those that have had changes made to it, still apply.

The same reasoning behind the ban of certain games still apply after this law has passed like heavily use of drugs etc so don't expect those games to be reclassified to an R rating. It's been said that some MA15 games will be reclassified towards an R rating - though that makes no sense to me.

        • You're right, companies have to deliberately re-submit the game for classification and pay the fee for it to get rated again for the game to get updated. Valve have specifically said they will resubmit L4D2 to get it updated, and will do so when they are able to (they aren't yet).

        • It's been said that some MA15 games will be reclassified towards an R rating

          Makes sense to me.
It will be possible for older, rejected games (or versions of games) to be reclassified R18, but there are costs involved in that process and for an older game I'm not sure the developer/distributor would see the point.

      • The something something states have to do something something before the rating comes into effect. Sorry if my technical jargon is confusing - basically stuff that has not happened yet, but I think should happen by early next year, is required before Valve can actually re-release the game. They will do it though :)

I originally found myself a free UK VPN to buy through.. but last sale when I tried to buy for a friend, I was unable to buy even through VPN, I think because they now check if you have a UK credit card.
So basically, you need a friend overseas to buy for you and gift to you.
The good news is, once bought as an overseas version, you can download in Australia (without VPN) and still get the overseas version.

    • just download "left4uncut", it's an exe that you run before loading the main game, works fine on the australian version

      • cool, didn't know about that!

      • Heard it screws up your achievements though?

I'd suggest you find a friend from the US/Canada to gift it to you or go on the steam trading forums and trade something of equal value.
Because once you have the censored version, you're stuck with it.

      • Is this bannable by Steam ?

  • So is Left 4 dead worth getting as well? anyone still play it?

    • My wife and I actually prefer L4D..

      • Oh ok but how's the community? Are there still a lot of people on there or they've ditched it for l4d2.

DO NOT GET THE AUS VERSION!!!!!

Get someone to Gift you the US version of unlock your account, its a waste for the AUS version 100%

    • If you already have the Australian version and someone gifts you from USA, will it override the AU version so that the censor is off ?

      • +1

        no

      • No and why would you do that? Make a new account for the uncensored one theb you have 2copies and a friend can play one when he comes over. No point in nulling out a game when youve already paid for it.
