Edit: someone in the comments bought from this store and got scammed. I personally bought it from another store. Please avoid this store.

I realise this might not be for everyone but I've been searching and searching for a robot vac that;

  • Wasn't more than 1.5k AUD
  • Has some sort hair cutting/tangle feature
  • Spinning mops with auto mop empty
  • Camera/light for going under beds/dark rooms
  • The only roboc vac locally that I found could technically meet all these requirements was the Dreamme L20 Ultra with the L30 newly released anti-tangle attachment, which was well over 2k AUD.

I had been eyeing off the Roborock Q Revo, but the new anti-tangle features and the hot water mopping of this one really sold it for me.

Couldn't find anything else on the market that ticked all the boxes aside from getting roboc vacs straight from China.

I ordered this myself from Aliexpress and it's been a treat so far, had it just over a week.

When setting up the vac I just had to select my region as 'Mainland China' and it worked from there, most of the menus are in English.

It's important to note that since this item is above $1000 AUD you may have to pay VAT, but I personally didn't have to so take that as you will.

Original posting got removed because the store wasn't above 95% Positive Feedback so I've found a similar store that meets the criteria. I know it's a bit silly, but I've done a bunch of research, ordered and tested the product myself and just wanted to share in-case anyone else was floating in the same boat.

  • Is it safe for region lock for future?

    • I've been using it for a week and it's been running fine.
Previously, I've just selected China Mainland in the Xiaomi Home app and it's run just fine for other IOT devices

  • Deja vu. Just link the previous cheaper one in the comments ;)

  • I have a Narwal, same tech. Worth every penny!

In fact, it's mopping my floor right now.

  • I reckon its a great find..If I hadnt bought a Q Revo I may have taken a punt since I have never had any issues with any robo vac unit , they are very simple units with a single board and auxiliary hardware.. the base station however is doing a lot in these newer models, still I got a Roborock s5 when it was launched and no one trusted it and that is still going strong with a battery change, a blower change, the brushes obviously but still doing a good job..then I got a Mijia with an auto emptying station two years back for 400 when the auto emptying was just coming into fashion and Roborock became too expensive after it became famous and parted ways with Xiaomi..with the Mijia there were a few software issues which were dealt with OTA updates…doing well since then.. then I got the Q Revo this Black Friday or Christmas I think… zero complaints in terms of hardware or software …but If I had seen this..I would have taken a chance on it

    • Fair shake. Only reason I lasted this long is I missed the Q Revo Christmas sale for $1500!

  • I have only stuck with companies that Xiaomi has promoted though .. software is more important than the hardware which to be honest is pretty basic in all of these units which is a good thing since replacements are easy ..which is why I reckon this is a good find at this price

  • +2

Whatever happened to those simple Xiaomi robot vacuums that were around the $200 mark? I don't need a mop function, just a robot vacuum.

      • Can find this product on Amazon AU?

    • Covid I guess my man.. the simple ones exist but not in Xiaomis portfolio ..Lubleu is what you need to be looking at

    • My folks are still rocking the original Xiaomi one that I bought off, maybe Banggood several years ago. Still running strong without even needing a battery replacement.

  • If region lock ain't a thing according to op, ordering it from 'Taobao' mainland version will cost you $708 +$100ish on shipping (by sea)
I'm still waiting on either yeedi cube or roborock s7 max plus to go on sale for easy returns in case I don't like it.

    • Don't you have to buy through an agent when you do Taobao? I've done it on small items but the shipping prices have been stupid.

      • U meant like a middle person for shipping purposes?

Taobao has a designated 'shipping partner' now which quote me ¥498 for sea (roughly $100) delivered to door and ¥1920 by air. Also 3% surcharge and GST total is another $100

So my total is $934.78, surely if you find a third party shipping you can avoid the GST and surcharge (if you have sufficient CNY)

  • Anyone know how this compares to the Roborock vacuums? There seems to be very little online about this model which I find odd

    • It's mainly because it came out last November in China and doesn't have a global release. Happy to answer and question you have about it that I can do to the best of my ability.

      • Thanks mate. Did you have a robot vacuum robot to compare it with? I’m looking to upgrade an older Viomi model I currently have. Cheers

        • I bought the Viomi Alpha S9 that I was last recently using.

It only had an auto empty station. So the mopping and hair trimming has been a great upgrade. Also the software I've found so far to be better, weirdly, given its the same app. But the software experience has been different.

  • Hell of a lot of features for the price - but personally having been through 2 robot vacuums which were replaced under warranty; I'm uneasy about spending that much money on AliExpesss on a grey import with questionable warranty.

    • What went wrong? Curious

      • First one corrupted its firmware, second one the LiDAR stopped spinning.

    • Many products on AliExpress have slow and slow transportation, but is Amazon shipping faster

  • Thanks for reporting that there is no region lock. I'll be ordering 2 from taobao and sea shipped here.

    • Care to share the link for taobao?

  • Beware everyone. This store is a scam. I just received my item and it was a box full of plastic roses.

    • What…. Really?

      • Yes, the box has the same dimensions as a robot vacuum box, weighs 17 kgs, and they even put a the lithium battery sticker on it. When I opened the box I found plastic roses that are installed on a heavy plastic base. The store is not responding and I am intending to initiate the claim with AliExpress today.

        • Holy shit. Sorry to hear that happened!

          • @busymoddingskyrim: Thanks, will keep you posted on the progress of the dispute.

@zol: After many messages back and forth, this is what happened.
The logistics company has mixed up my package with another package that was intended for the US. It seems something happened and my shipping label was stuck to another person's box.
The seller admitted to the issue but is still refusing to refund and instead wants to send me another box. I am waiting for the Aliexpress dispute team to take over.

The store is legit, however, they don't seem to be using a reliable logistics company and their customer support is not the best.

              • @zol: Thanks for the update - hope it all pans out. I was seriously considering buying an m30 but got put off after seeing your issue. Ended up buying a QRevo from last night's sale from JB for $1222 instead

                • @coby: The jbhifi deals are actually very good. Having local support and warranty are worth the price difference

                  • +1

@zol: Finally got the store to refund the money, it was a bit of an ordeal but they finally wanted to resolve the issue before AliExpress got involved. After admitting fault they insisted to send me the item again but i kept insisting on a refund.

  • The M30 is the way to go but if you already have a a mopping robot from Xiaomi or Dreame you can just get the new anti tangle brush from the L30. One note of caution - the driving end of the roller brush ( the square bit) is slightly smaller than the one in my Xiaomi omni 1s. It worked fine anyway but to avoid future problems I placed a single layer of duct tape on all 4 sides of the square end and it is now a very snug fit . No problems at all. It works perfectly in that there is zero hair or wool on the brush afterwards. Occasionally there might be a bit of loose hair on the ends ( easy to remove) but the brush roll itself is always untangled.

Should also be suitable for Roborock Q7 subject to the issue with the square thingy

this is the unit I bought:
