If you need a cheap projector for the kids or projecting videos for christmas and halloween onto curtains to create a cheap video show for the neighbours walking outside, this projector might fit the bill. 4.3 starts out of 5, and a 63% with 5 star rating so its probably not too bad, but not exactly high quality either. For the price its probably okay. Might also be good as a gaming projector.

I would agree - that said, I bought a cheap $100 projector last year (used it in my office room projecting a video on my wall) and it was surprisingly good—sure it's not as good as a proper home theatre projector, but sometimes you just need something that's just okay,
I will say, the black level of this cheap projector was actually very good along with lower brightness (and I own a few higher level projectors I can compare it to)
I appreciate your point, but why call out this particular product? This site is chock full of potential landfill and generally induces needless consumption (quality products that will never be used). The amount of "What did I just buy?" "Didn't need, bought one anyway" comments highlights this.
I guess high tech products with a lot of intricate components are potentially more impactful on the environment given their input costs, and if it breaks in a year or two it goes in the bin, but I think you make a really good point, and I don't disagree.
Yeah, definitely agree with you :)
I checked using honey and noticed that the projector normally for the past 120 days has sold for $199 and peaked three times to $269 starting dec (no doubt for holiday season purchasing).
My logic is a projector that sells for $200 or $269 at half price is going to hopefully be better quality than a $150 or $130 projector that sells for $100, so you get better quality for the same price.
I did also look at videos and noticed that the fan noise is less than other cheap projectors and reviews were generally favourable.
It popped up in my amazon out of the blue and with 50% off I thought, ooh this might be worth looking into.
After a few at the craft brewery.
Got a similar with blowup projector. Don't expect wonders. And it has to be really dark. But does the trick few times a year when kids cousins are over to watch a movie in back garden.

I personally bought this projector when it had a coupon making it ~$200. Pretty impressive quality for the price.
The Hookup on youtube recommends the groview
The body and model code is shared between the two projectors though

The rabbit hole goes deeper….
Interesting I might have to get the HOPVISION and do my own test, if it's the same as the GROVIEW for $100 thats some insane value
Ok so after a little more google and youtube'ing
The Hopvision is JQ818A
The Topvision is JQ818B
The Groview is JQ818C
Only The Hook Up on youtube does rigorous testing with measurements and side-by-sides…
Though the linked youtube vid in my previous reply has a guy already show a difference in the UI (groview has the miracast for example) and the coloura (or image quality) he commentates are better on the top unit which is the Groview
There is a youtube comment from someone saying the Groview is superior too
The hopvision does NOT appear to have wifi and bluetooth
I'm kind of interested in a Yaber v9 pro side-by-side comparison with the Groview
https://youtu.be/z9s6o1aw6xw?si=BWPdTwlMdZgaaPUm
This japanese youtuber has done a sidebyside with a wimius p62
Note the unit body similarity
I purchased the HOPVISION at about 94.99, honestly its bang for buck
If the 500 lumens being the sameish as the GROVIEW - just lacking wifi/casting and I'd be using a firestick anyway
If the observable difference was colour temperature in the YT video— thehookup posted a vid showing picture adjustments via remote—- so I ended up just popping batteries into the remote and matching the colour to how vids look like on a tablet (so i could see missing detail in clothing (contrast) etc)
1080P Projector
Good for playing Super Mario Bros or YouTube videos of Minecraft.
I need a outdoor projector and screen for outdoor entertaining area day&night time, can anyone recommend something or specs ill need I have no idea have never used one before.
For daytime use you'll need a high brightness projector which can be expensive and are more noisy as there is more cooling required due to high wattage to drive a bright bulb (with ideally an ALR screen which is designed to reduce ambient light reflection - these can be expensive as well and probably overkill).
Not knowing the content to be shown - movies? music videos, I see Epson sell a refurbished EB-E10 projector (3600 lumens, 1024x768 for $299 - https://www.epson.com.au/shoponline/shop/DisplayProduct.asp?…)
If you need 1080P resolution they have the EB-FH06 for $599 https://www.epson.com.au/shoponline/shop/DisplayProduct.asp?…
New this projector is $897 from officeworks so you're getting a $300 saving but 1 yr vs 2yr warranty so factor that in your decision
https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/epson-eb-f…
Lamp life in ECO on the epson is impressive at 12,000 hours (but lower brightness output)
Replacement bulbs on epsons is relatively cheap compared to other manufacturers.
Woah that's actually insane value! I was looking at all the budget reviews to see which had the highest brightness and contrast and the Groview JQ8 at $250 and measured 500 lumens was the best value. But the refurbished Epson seems like a no-brainer.
Thank you
$99 for me
There's a pretty comprehensive review of many of the popular cheap projectors here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULVcpqC2NU4
The video also includes links to reviews of projectors in other price ranges, if you'd prefer to spend a little extra - just bear in mind that he's talking US dollars.
Can this be aimed at the ceiling? the current toy projector we use has the power and hdmi on the side and found it really useful for the kids.
We really shouldn't be encouraging landfill products like this.
