Video Editing PC + Monitor < $3000

Hey all,

Looking to get into video editing and podcasting but don't want spend too much to get setup right now so looking bang for buck options.

Looking to spend up to about $3000 including monitor and will be using Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing

From what I've read online Intel is the best for rendering videos as you can use both iGPU and dedicated GPU on the K variants but not the KF variants.

I was hoping to get a bundle from say Nebula PC as they're local to me but all there's seem to be Ryzen packages.

Is anyone able to give me their thoughts on any of the Nebula pre builds?

In terms of monitor I wanted 1x34" (limited room); I was looking at the Prism+ monitors - specifically the XQ340 PRO

Hdr400, 140% sRGB, 165Hz, 400 nits - draw back is its VA but would the other stuff make up for it especially at $600 seems decent

  • You might want to give some thought and leave room in the budget for the audio side of things.

Why don't you start with what you have already.

    Create the content first.

    • Content is created daily at work (building industry) at the moment and posted regulary on social media but it's just short clips and wanted to try the longer form and cut down into short clips too

  • What software will you be using?
Start with that and then you can plan your build. Some editing software makes use of CUDA which is an nvidia thing but it's been a while since I've built a dedicated editing rig so I'm not sure what the currant state of play is in that regard. Don't skimp out on the PSU, when you've got the whole machine rendering out HD content it can draw a lot of power and the bog standard yum-cha PSU's don't really cut it.

  • are you recording in 4K? are you using the microphone in the phone / camera or already using an external mic?
pretty much a $1000 dekstop can easily handle 4K editing, though more memory, more fast SSD storage / work space will make the editing process easier.

one thing with video editing - less is more, don't go overboard on fancy screen transitions, fades, wipes etc. that just makes your work look amateurish and tacky.

as for editors, there are so many choices - so check this out (not my channel or anything to do with me) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWeyGNhF2io
